Hello everyone,

I am having a really hard time deciding between silver and gold for the iPhone 5S, I originally thought I really liked it, but now looking at it in more detail in pictures, im not so sure. It seems to be a little darker than what I originally thought, and almost a brownish gold in some pictures. However, in some other pictures, its ok. I seem to like it or not based on what photo im looking at. The silver on the other hand, looks really nice, i know I like it, because I have it on my 5 right now. I also need to look at it from a resale perspective too, what will grab more interest. At this point, i'm kinda confused, so I am turning to you guys, please don't complain about this thread, i couldn't find one asking exactly the same question.

Look at both, up close and personal in the store, then decide which you like best. I, personally, think all 3 color choices look good but will be choosing gold.

It looks as though the gold model looks light at some angles, and dark at others, I think the light looks good, but the dark does not at all.

Here are two pretty good shots, straight from apple. Still can't decide. Leaning gold just because it's different.

What exactly is a "render" and why would apple not be posting actual pictures of their phone?

It's funny, I prefer the silver back and the gold front =) To me the gold back is just too dark in some lighting.

Looking at an Apple commercial for an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, with the device so completely in focus, you might at first mistake it for a 3D rendering. It turns out it's real photography, however, incredibly painstaking photography.

In order for the product to appear entirely in focus, they shoot a number of focus zones, which are stitched together in post.

This is actually an illusion however. You cannot position an iPhone 5 to get this exact angle in real life. It's been photo stacked to create a slim illusion.

Looks like the iphone on right has some short of back protector. That would affect the color a bit too.

I think the gold version is kind of ugly. It looks like the silver version was left outside too long, and now the metal bits are all corroded and dirty.

In some angles it looks antique or aged. Might be cool for people going for a steampunk look, but it's definately the antithesis of high-tech in my opinion.

Like the champagne color face on. Looks really good. I never look at the back anyway. Nothing back there to see for the user :D
