I don't think it will be released until a while after, I'm pretty sure it's aspyr making the port again( Correct me if im wrong). Aspyr is pretty slow.

What if they release it on the same disc like Spore?

Given EA's current attitudes towards DRM I'm hoping they don't destroy this game too.

Not that I'll play it. But I'm not being called over by friends and relatives to fix their installs

EA will be making sims 3 for Macs i got this from the sims3 website " We’re really excited to bring you the game for the PC and Mac starting June 2 [June 5th for UK!"

If they've changed it so you don't have to spend all your time just keeping the Sims alive (Eat, damn you, eat! Quick find someone to talk to... oh, you wet yourself. Damn, schoolbus, go go go) then I'll be very happy.

That's what I'm thinking. It's like "Your Sim is dying" and I'm like "It REFUSES to eat!"

I want to be able to make it do whatever I want it to... it's a freakin' SIM for crying out loud...

Looking forward to it!

I can't wait for this, its coming in June! Yay us!

Mac Recommended requirements: (SOURCE)
  • Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or Higher
  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
  • 2 GB Memory
  • 6.1 GB of hard disk space, with at least 1 GB additional space for saved games and custom content.
  • ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of RAM or Intel Integrated GMA X3100

  • Supported Graphics Cards:
ATI Radeon ™ X1600, X1900, 2400, 2600, 3870, 4850, 4870, NVIDIA GeForce 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800, 9400M, 9600M GT, GT 120, GT 130, Intel ® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) GMA 3-Series . This game will not run on Mac systems with processor PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) or video cards with integrated GMA 950 series.

Seems like generous specs for me, I'm good to go!
Also its coming out for iPod Touch & iPhone too also, a preview video of that here.

EA Has confirmed this to only have Copy Protection, and a Serial Key, no DRM, SecuROM etc. Which is a big move for them, who knows, i may even buy this, even though the Sims are terrible.

Oh yeah, why do people get so mad about SecuROM? What's so bad about it?

Because on windows at least it installs a low-level kernel driver which can and has been shown to interfere with certain other software and won't run if you have certain other apps installed (copy software)

Worst of all its a nightmare to remove and doesn't uninstall from the system if you uninstall the game ...

Should be banned

Ahh ok, thanks for clearing that up :)

Well, for games such as Spore, once the game was installed the 3rd time, the Serial Key became inactive, and securom would force you to purchase the game again, as you could no longer activate it.

But in general, it messes with the system processes, is an unneeded pain, is installed with no warning, and only limits genuine purchasers.

I hope ASPYR releases a real mac port of this game; I'm still against all these CIDER ports. I'd pay twice as much to support a mac game developer.

I dont think this is going to happen. EA owns the Sims and why would they allow Aspyr to port it when a Mac version already exists (on the same DVD no less).

Like it or not, Cider allows game publishers to quickly port things to other platforms. Im with you, Id rather see Mac native versions but cider is becoming the trend in Mac gaming.:apple:

I may actually buy this...

Ya, you're right. ASPYR will probably never get a chance to port it :-(

Anyway, I'm finding some pretty good prices for TS3

EDIT: just bought a copy on ebay from 99.5% positive rated seller. $35 USD Shipped + $2.50 insurance; I paid more for TS2. Hope it works!
