I'm relatively new here.

2018: OG iPhone SE, pink, bought to play around with.
2019: iPhone 11, black, cheaper than the Pixel 4. What was Google thinking?
2020: iPhone 12 Pro, white. Loved flat sides since the Essential Phone, which I unfortunately broke in 2018.
2021: iPhone 13 Pro Max, black. Wanted to try the bigger phone.
2022: 14 Pro, white. Hated the bigger phone.
2023: 15 Pro, white. Titanium and USB-C, thanks tim!

2G (original 2007, 8GB)
3G
3GS
4S (on first week drowned in swim lake, behaved never the same even after disassembly/drying/LED flex replacement - still my work/company phone!)
5S
6
X
13 mini (love it & will keep it until some other small form factor comes along, having iOS of course)

Most of the above bought as 2nd hand, except 4S and 13mini.

Before the 2G (as first failed attempt, I got a Chinese clone fake but seller took it back after serious pressure with attorney)

iPhones I’ve personally owned:

Phone 3G
iPhone 4
iPhone 4s
iPhone 5s
iPhone 6
iPhone 7
iPhone X (returned and went back to 7)
iPhone 8
iPhone SE 2020
iPhone 12 mini
iPhone 13 mini
iPhone 15 Pro (returned and went back to 13 mini)

My favorite was probably the 6. While it was only my personal phone for 2 years, I also had one as work phone for over 6 years. I just always liked the weight/size/screen ratio and even though they offered me different phones for how I used my work phone it was the best (also because it had a headphone jack and I preferred a wired headset). Even when I had the others in that form factor (7, 8, SE 2020) the 6 always felt best when I compared them.

Least favorite is hard, even though I returned both the X and the 15 Pro I actually liked them I was just hoping the next version would be better. Felt the X was bulky (at the time) and wasn't a fan on FaceID (again at the time) nor the notch and felt Apple would trend toward improving those features. Instead they just kept making bigger and heavier versions of the "Pro" until the 15 Pro. To this day I still wish they would take the X screen size and put it into a lighter/smaller form factor. I tried the 15 Pro, but when push came to shove I still like the benefits of my 13 mini over the benefits of the 15 Pro. Again was hoping with the 16 Pro they would slim it down even more, but instead looks like they decided to make it bigger too.

I still might pickup up a 15 Pro again if I can get a great deal on refurbished/new and go with a two phone system. Keep my 13 mini for what it is best for (when I'm active and need to use one-handed) but have the 15 Pro for other uses. Then just forward stuff between the two the best I can.

Favourite is the 15 I reckon. I did love the X when it came out however.

It took me a long time to purchase an iPhone, I was determined to never make the switch from android to iOS but one evening my husband and I found out we wanted to try iPhones because we found a great offer online. It was the same thing with mac's: I swore I never would switch from pc to Mac but now I'm on my third apple laptop.
We have almost everything apple, except my husband and son have pc's and our son would never get anything but android.

I've only owned four iPhones:
-iPhone 7- my first and even though I loved it it took some time to get used to the ecosystem when I was used to android. Not very happy with the touch-id, it worked about half of the time
-iPhone 11 the main reason I upgraded was face-id, never trusted touch-id
-iPhone 14 don't really know why I bought it since I was happy with the 11 but I wanted something new. Not very different from the iPhone 11 but a nice phone.
-iPhone 15 pro. My current phone and first pro. Didn't really need to upgrade, but it was (again) a spur of the moment thing and I had long wanted to try a pro phone.

I'll try to not upgrade for a while, I really don't need to but maybe I get tempted...

iPhone 4
iPhone 4S
iPhone 5S (such a good design!)
iPhone 6
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 7 (7 Plus broke)
iPhone 13 Pro (replaced the battery this year)

Might switch to the iPhone 17 next year

3Gs, 5s, 8-plus and now 15…

5s remains my favourite. perfect size and the camera/iOS were great.

And their plan to limit AI to the 15Pro is really making me ponder my future support of this company - truly annoyed

Still have great memories of the first iPhone launch, and buying it day 1, as had recently graduated from college and was in my first job, where a bunch of us all lined up to buy it.

OG iPhone
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4S
iPhone 5S - My favorite phone of all time. The move to longer shape, Touch ID, flat edges. Absolutely my favorite phone ever.
iPhone 6S
iPhone X
iPhone 12 Pro
iPhone 13 Pro - only reason I got this 1yr later (otherwise was always on a 2yr upgrade cycle) was because I moved and switched carriers, and got a really good deal with T-Mobile as both my wife and I were signing up, essentially getting a free 13 Pros (BOGO)
iPhone 15 Pro Max - my first time with a "plus" sized phone. Absolutely love it, probably never going back to the regular size as long as the weight characteristics stay where they are. First time it's past the subjective threshold of "not too heavy".

The iPhone 4 was the first iPhone release available on Verizon's CDMA network.

So:
iPhone 4
iPhone 5
iPhone 5S
iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone XS Max
iPhone 13 Pro Max
iPhone 13 Pro
iPhone 15 Pro Max

Favorite form factor: 5 / 5S
Favorite in terms of novel features: XS Max

iPhone 4 - This was my high school graduation gift in 2011. The 4s came out just a few months later, but I didn't care or even understand the differences at the time. All I knew was I had an iPhone and that was enough.

(Side note - I had a Blackberry Curve 09-11 before my graduation gift. That thing was great for the time. iPhone 4 was next level, though)

iPhone 4S - Shattered my iPhone 4 while hanging with friends at a pool. Picked up a 4S from eBay. Went to a friend's party later that summer and it fell out of my pocket. Woke up the next day without a phone. My friend let me know a few days later that he ran over it while mowing his lawn. As you can guess, the thing was destroyed. I was young & very dumb.

iPhone 5 - Bought this off eBay once I ruined my 4 & 4s. It was a lemon and makes sense why somebody was selling it. Thought I scored a deal before I found out all the issues it had. Haha

iPhone 6 - I bought this up front at the Apple Store in 2014. 2 weeks into owning it I shattered the screen. Thankfully I had Apple Care. I have never been one to use cases. You think I would learn.

I eventually started to treat my phones better.

iPhone 7 - This phone was "free" with a new contract I had with Sprint. I honestly had zero issues with it.

iPhone XS - Traded in my iPhone 7 for an XS on release day. I rocked that thing until the 13 pro came out.

iPhone 13 Pro - I traded in my XS on release day and here I am with a 13 pro. I have zero complaints 3 years later. I still go caseless. My phone is scratched to hell and back, but I don't mind. Holding out until a new iPhone seems worthy of the money. The "slim" or whatever has been catching my attention. We'll see next fall.

3G (stolen!)

4S
5S

8 (stolen but retrieved!)
X
11 Pro Max (stolen not retrieved)
13 Pro (current)

Toss up between 4S or 5S being the favourite. 4 design was superb, 5S very close second.

After the 11 Pro Max was stolen it was a really hard choice between 13 Mini and 13 Pro. Not a fan of the big screened iPhones. Standard pro size just a liiiittle too big for my liking. I’m ideally a small phone, medium iPad (~10”), large desktop screen (27”+) oriented user.

Us small phone hopers can dream for a pro mini / mini pro… (in vain)

3G
4
4S (got stolen after only a few months and I was forced back on to the 4)
6
8 Plus
13 mini
SE 3 (work phone)

You can see that early on I was excited by the upgrades, and as time has gone on I’ve just been less interested in new phones. Helps that my 13 mini is probably my favourite of them all; just had the battery replaced and have no intention of upgrading any time soon.

I don’t regret any, but the 6 is an anomaly in that I barely recall owning it and it might well have been a 6S for all I can remember. It only came to me then because I realised I couldn’t have been on an iPhone 4 basically from 2010 until 2017. So I guess by default that’s my worst.

Pro Mini is the dream. Truly.

3GS, 4, 4S, 5, SE, SE2, 15

Best was the 5. Kept it nearly 4 years until the SE came out, which was my second favourite phone.

Saw the writing on the wall for that small size of phone and jumped to the 15 last year. The 15 is very good and I have no regrets. I wouldn't want to go back to smaller now as I like the larger screen and battery, but I also don't want to go any larger.

to me iPhone is a tool, and I like(d) them all while I had them, the latest I'm using is always my favorite

I was late to the party!

5
6S Plus
X
11 Pro Max
12 Pro
13 Pro Max
15 Pro

I'd say the 6S Plus and X were my favorite of this group. I miss rose gold and 3D touch. I bought it on the cheap a few months after the iPhone 7 was unveiled, and liked the screen size boost. I'm not a fan of glossy frames on iPhones, but the stainless steel actually looked pretty nice on the X. I was working for an AASP at the time I bought mine, and it brings some fond memories. The midnight green on 11 Pro Max may be tied with rose gold for my favorite color to date. Like OP, the 12 Pro was a bust for me, but I blame 5G hemorrhaging my battery life. I knew it would be worse than the 11PM due to physics, but it was especially worse. (I wouldn't have bought it if not for being on the iUP at the time.) I ran with 13 Pro Max for two years and it had the best battery of any iPhone I've used, bar none. 15 Pro has been fine.

I owned more phones early on as I passed it down to family. Original iPhone was interesting. Last three were 4s, 7 plus and 13 PM. The 13 PM is by far the best iPhone I ever owned. Blazing 5G speeds and long battery life. I tend to keep my iPhones 6-7 years, will probably upgrade to iPhone 19-20.

iPhone models that I owned and personally used:

2007 original iPhone
2011 iPhone 4s - favorite design
2013 iPhone 5s
2015 iPhone 6s Plus - hated it
2017 iPhone SE1
2022 iPhone 13 Mini - the last great iPhone
Wow, this is almost my exact iPhone experience. Just minus original iPhone and switch 13 Mini for SE3, but otherwise same exact models and even same reactions. 4S was also my favorite (followed closely by 5S/SE1), and I also hated my 6S Plus (way too big). I would have gotten 13 Mini too, but I opted for SE3 because it has Touch ID. Really frustrating the size of phones these days.
