The only thing I will say is that the iPhone 12 Pro is still very slippery. The flat edges don't make it any easier to hold imo without a case on it.

Cases, screen protectors and AppleCare never made sense to me. I vastly prefer using the device “naked”, and the two times I broke my screen over a period of ~10 years were much cheaper than AppleCare would have been.

I'll have AppleCare for my Pro Max and a bumper case. I'd like to see what the leather cases look like, otherwise I'm just going to try a bumper style case for hopefully less slipping.

I have good eye and hand coordination from playing PUBG, lol. I do realize the risk of dropping it and Apple not accepting the return if it’s damaged. I think though that Apple draws the line if the screen is cracked or shattered. If theres any scuff on the screen, sides, or micro scratches on the display that won’t be a dealbreaker for an exchange. It would have to be obvious damage like a cracked or shattered display. But with the new ceramic shield there is less worry that the display will get significant damage.
interesting, you would think they would be super strickt with that since you know. They are Apple!

I'm too cheap to buy AppleCare tbh haha. I'll take my chances with a $10 case and screen protector lol
hahaah I actully do ATT plan, its $108 a year, so not bad. ANd how cheap can you be if you're buying over a $1,000 phone :p

i play like 3 sports and my kids do too so we are always going here and there and on dirt and concerete so i have a much higher risk. plus i have big hands that dont always keep things in them. lol

I have a child in the house 2.5 year old, wish I could go caseless but not in the cards.

I already have a Pitaka Air case for the 12 Pro Max. Will see how I like it case-less. I believe I’ll prefer it with the Pitaka.

Well, I have a 12, not 12 pro, but I always use a case. Insurance will cover cracks and stuff, sure, but I wouldn’t like my phone to have scratches, always be covered in fingerprints, etc. It’s always a case and screen protector for me.

In addition, I use a Loopy case, and I just cannot get myself used to using a phone without one.

I ended up putting the silicone case on. Naked caused my fingers to sweat on the new finish. Not sure why.

I have never used an iPhone without a case, but with the iPhone 12 Pro in Pacific Blue I am actually using it at home without the case. The MagSafe case is easy to put on and take off, so when I’m home I use it without the case, and if I go out I will put a case on.

I am home most of the time (work from home), and our floors are soft (no tile or hardwood) so I’m not afraid to use the phone at home in all it’s beautiful naked glory.

However I will not taking this baby out around all the concrete in this world without some sort of protection, I don’t care how hard the front glass is!

AppleCare+ is way too expansive given iPhone price and risk...
At that price you should just pay a new phone outright with the savings when your phone is damaged / stolen and still save money except if you like to kill your phone twice a year each year or you want to contribute to my gains with my AAPL stocks

Don't forget to upgrade yearly and get Apple One Premier with 4TB iCloud, thanks

Ya I only take the case off at home. But it feels so good I really want to try naked! I mean we were born naked!! Lol

This has been an interesting thread. Glad to know we're all the same level of neurotic to a certain extent. I have arranged before me the first ever iPhone (launch day purchase) and many of the iPhones released since. iPhone OG, 3G, 4, 5 Black, 5s White, 6, and 7 Plus. I stopped at the iPhone 7 Plus, not inspired to upgrade since until the 12. I think it was the return to the 4/5 design and the Max's camera system. I just upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro Max in Pacific Blue.

Each of the 7 iPhones in front of me look like they just came out of the box. I've always used a case, usually the official Apple leather case in saddle brown or black, and never a screen protector. I've never broken an iPhone (watched my wife and kids go through them like candy), despite using them non-stop. They are little technical marvels, and I didn't trade them in because the trade value didn't represent their worth. Besides, it's fun to take them out from time to time and look at the design evolution. Plus, they all work, and using the original iPhone OS on the OG is a trip. (If you've not held the original or a 3G/3Gs in a long time you'll be shocked at how tiny they are.)

I have fully intended to rock a baltic blue leather case on the Pro Max, but now I find I hesitate...

Here's the thing, it's just about the most beautiful piece of handheld tech, with the frosted Blue glass back, single piece glass molded raised lens platform, and polished blue stainless steel rails, that I've seen. I don't want to cover it.

I ask for an honest assessment. For those that have rocked 'em naked for years, what do your iPhones look like? Are they full of wear, scratches, and a well loved appearance? There is a difference between breaking and damaging a phone, and the phone simply accumulating the wear of life. The best thing about the saddle brown leather case is how it takes all that punishment and looks better for it. However, I don't think I'd like that "broken in look" on the iPhone's Pacific Blue rails and glass back.

Still torn, thanks for sharing everyone!

And to the OP... Go Blue!
