@KBeat I’ve always used cases in the past, 6 plus-xs max, and my phones were in mint condition. From the 3GS-5s was used without a case. However, with the 12 PM in silver, it is just to gorgeous to cover up and the flat edges are very welcome. At this point, I‘m using a screen protector only. I tried the clear skins for the back of the phone but didn’t like how they seemed to degrade the phone’s finish. The 12 PM is easy to grip and I cannot see myself using a case with this phone at this point in time or in the future if Apple continues with this design for the next few years.

Seriously considered going caseless to enjoy this undeniably purdy PB colour... But after a few days of use, I found the phone really uncomfortable to hold. The weight of the Pro + squares edges aren’t exactly an ergonomic dream.

So I slapped a leather case on it and haven’t looked back. Infinitely nicer in hand.

Have to go case and screen protector... it’s like trying to never drop the TV converter for me.

it’s just gonna happen

Always use a case and have a gray ESR kickstand case on my 12 Pro. It allows me to position the phone in landscape or portrait position. Had one on my X as well. Best case I have ever used.

What bumper case is that?
I think this was $12 and some change. I tried it for a few days with my 12 PM, and decided that I preferred the phone without the bumper sine I have small hands.

i guess, $100 is quite a bit if you mess up the sides on a drop
I’m not worried about dropping my phone. If it happens it happens. As was pointed out, that is what AC+ is for. I would rather enjoy every feature of my silver 12 PM, and going without a case is part of the enjoyment for me. YMMV.

I’m not a dropper, but I might trash this phone with no case see how it ends up, 12 black 64gb so cheapest 6.1” phone. Get the sides a industrial look and scratch up the back.
Have a screen protector so only the camera lense needs looking after.
Have ac+ as back up.

I have never went naked, but i am leaning that way. Why cover up such good looking device, specially with the insurance programs that will cover you! i have had insurance for years and never used it.
Ok guys I ordered a mini. So I’ll end up not using a case with it. Testi it out compared to my max.

I’ve gone the opposite to what I usually do and put a screen protector on my 12 Pro Max. I may not last long though with it on. I always use a Pitaka MagEZ case as well although due to the iPhone shape, I’m not overly impresses with the Pitaka this year. The case has to wrap the sides to stay on, so with the flatter screen it means the aramid case edges are above the sides, so can feel the case edges sticking up and that’s annoying when swiping. On the Xs Max, the case only had to fit the rounded edges, then the screen sat above this so it felt amazing.
It’s ok with a screen protector on, but am not liking it this year at all. Shame really as those case edges take away the feel of an incredible phone. I will see how long this lasts, as I may well go back to naked or Apple Leather case.

If I should drop my phone, I have a backup phone I can use. I also have AC+ and can make use of Express Replacement as well.
Unfortunately I’d be replacing my iPhone dozens of times over my ownership so even AC+ would be a waste. I like the fact if I drop my phone now, I can pick it up and continue using it. Not to mention these devices feel awful from an ergonomic standpoint with coarse edges I find. It’s rare to see someone going caseless these days though so my hat comes off to you!

I mostly use my phones naked. In the winter, outdoors, I often have to case it up, but only because the phone gets bloody cold, which aggravates my stupid nerve damage. Roll on summer.

The thought of putting a case on any of my phones never even crossed my mind. I can’t even pin point in my mind when the trend started as I’m sure no one ever used to.

Now that Apple went back to flat/square sides I'm going case-less! Personally, iPhones 6-11 were like holding wet soap. I prefer the industrial look of the square sides, and find it way easier to hold and pickup. Although... I'm a big fan of the blackout look the PEEL black slim case provides. So tbh 90% naked iPhone & 10% case just for looks.

It started across the industry when manufacturers started charging £150-£350 for replacement screens and when glass started being used for the backs of devices. I remember the first few iPhones were often used without cases but when the iPhone 4 came out, I saw it become a growing trend. I can't recall the last time I physocally saw someone carrying an iPhone without a case on it? I see a few here admit to doing that however, but in my experience is highly uncommon.

Naked + screen protector + AppleCare for me.

I’ve ordered a bumper case which hasn’t arrived yet. Will see if I end up using it or not in day to day use.

So after never using a case previously, I started out with a case coming from the X > 12 Pro, and with 2 kids under 5yrs old. I had dropped my X a few times over the last 3 years (mostly because of the kids), but nothing major, just small scratches.

I also put a screen protector on it for the first time as I heard stories about easier scratches given the tougher-screen-for-drops.

After a month now, I feel I've gotten used to the 12 Pro, and my kids are pretty good about not picking it up without asking me / us looking at photos or videos together (and I'm more carefully leaving the phone up out of reach).

For a week now, I've removed the case and gone naked again. Loving it again, and put me in the camp where I prefer the straight edge vs the X's rounded edges.
