I asked Siri if she was a robot...

That (and the fact that Siri does not support polish) is the reason why my iPhone 12 Pro Max, which I bought for apps developement and certain hardware features, sits on my desk as a work tool and a crappy $100 Nokia 3.1 with a proper assistant I can communicate with in my native language is my daily driver :)

This illustrates perfectly what’s wrong with Siri. Everything needs to be hardcoded.

The only way out of this mess is for Apple to develop a new smarter virtual assistant.

They can keep Siri around as the privacy friendly stupid version. And have a new version that integrates more with user data and does actual useful profiling and machine learning. I’m sure most people would switch in a heart beat.

A potential observation from someone who is politically independent...
A reader above responded with "Money" but I think it's more politically related since Ophrah and Apple have an aligned belief system. Apple may not provide the same benefit to famous people that are not aligned with Apple's politics, such as Elon Musk.
absolutely spot on!

What is this rubbish? This is total grift from Apple and Oprah because you know they ain't doing this for free or out of the kindness of their hearts. "Assistants" are supposed to be helpful, not find ways to extract money from our wallets.

And seriously who would organically ask their "assistant" what Oprah is reading? Nobody. And furthermore they've reduced Siri to more of an "idiot box" because now you'll want to try asking what someone else is "reading" and Siri will be like, "Sorry... Oprah, Oprah, Oprah."

And where is WhatsApp, the third Facebook app? Kinda expectable that the other two, FB and Instagram, where the least respectful with the user’s privacy. But now I’m curious to know where is WhatsApp in that list.

A few moments ago I asked my HomePod Mini to stop.

“One moment”

Music continues for 5 or 6 seconds.

“Still working on it”

3 seconds later

“I’m sorry I can’t do that right now”....and the music has stopped.

Apple need to get a firm grasp of the basics, never mind this inconsequential fluff.

they did, by pulling out of the market ☹️
HomePod is dead, the Mini might follow sooner than later.

What? You're saying curated data like sponsored content isn't enough research? /s
On that point, the future has never looked brighter. Should we ever doubt what we should think, feel, or buy; our great Siri-Oprah beacon will be our guiding light to a higher existence. Should you buy these sweatpants? Oprah says, "Go for it!"

Not an American, but does Oprah have a huge following, even to this date? Reading most of the comments here seems to say otherwise.

Sometimes, it does feel like someone at Apple way up on the hierarchy is obsessed with Oprah and thus we get this.
You were kind because you just said “Obsessed “

Might be a good feature if they can get enough well known authors onboard, I'd love to know what Stephen King's reading right now, but Oprah... I'll pass

I've been getting the same response too.

I wonder if because so many people are asking Siri what Oprah's reading, or like me, asking silly questions, that she's overloaded. 🤔 lol

Hey Siri, What do you think of Google Assistant?

"I offer no resistance to helpful assistants".

Hey Siri, How much do you cost?

"I hope you find me priceless".

I do reccomend asking this though:

Hey Siri; I see a little silhouetto of a man..

'How the Queen responds to biased media reports.'

Would have thought there was so much more to add to Siri to make it 'smarter. The amount of time Siri has no idea that my Homekit lights are off or on. Also blasts out 'On it" or some other response at full blast.

I agree. Siri is beyond fixable. They should start again and build something new that actually works.
