I don't know man..the first thing I do when I set a new device is turning off that annoying siri.
never found it (nor other similar equivalents from google,MS) useful.more like annoying gimmicks.

How did you manage to find Siri on your Nokia 3210? I tell ya, don't go getting one of these new fandangled here "smartphones" - colour screens, I tell ye, what a gimmick!

Curious which keyboard button they'll use for invoking Siri.

  • Double-tap fn (like how it is for voice dictation)?
  • Long-press command (Apple button)?
  • Repurposing the caps-lock key just for Siri (Like Chromebook's for search)?

Or better. Add a special function key on the top row.
buy a new mac if you want one-press siri. :D

I generally use it for setting timers and alarms. Also reading and dictating text messages while driving, but that's pretty hit or miss.

Siri on the Apple TV however is a big help if you want to search for something or type something, huge pain with the remote alone.

Otherwise it doesn't get much use, just doesn't understand what I'm saying when using more complex words or phrases so it's easier to type than repeat the question 3 times.

I do think that Apple is late to the game with Siri on the Mac, but it's possible they were concerned more about the user experience than the technical implementation. For example, if 10 million Macs starting querying Siri, the data centres may become overloaded.

I really, really, really, really hope that Apple embeds their own dedicated "V-series" voice-processing chip into both iOS devices and Macs to lessen the dependency of over-the-air processing. Not only would that speed up the processing, it would also lower battery usage for using Siri.
Offline Siri would be great. the fitness chain I exercise at decided to use thick stone hangar type buildings . It pains me to try to use Siri or Apple Music there as I usually don't have signal inside.

There are two things that Mac OS X needs right now-- Siri integration, and a touchscreen for notebooks. Amazingly, Windows has the lead in both of these areas. And that just should not be....
Why do you want to touch your notebook screen? Why do you want to lean over the desk and keep your arm extended? That's uncomfortable and useless. I'd only want that if the notebook were also convertible. But I'd rather have a trackpad with a display and Apple Pencil compatibility, or just the ability to use an iPhone or iPad Pro (with the Pencil) as a drawing input device on the Mac. I think those are specialized uses anyway.
[doublepost=1463621042][/doublepost]I'm curious if they've solved the problem of having multiple devices respond to "Hey, Siri." Sometimes my iPhone has responded along with my Watch (before I turned it off on my iPhone). The devices need to be able to communicate, so I can say "Hey, Siri" to my Watch, for example, without having other devices listen, but to also be able to say something like "play MGMT on my Mac (on my AirPlay speakers)" and have Siri follow that.

I use Siri alot now, and to be fair it has improved amazingly since the first release. Yes, it should have been on Macs a LONG time ago. Also where is the third party support? A couple of new questions each year vs. what the developer community could do doesn't really cut it. I am Australian, I don't really care how tall the captain of the best team in American "Hand egg" is. All I would like is better Siri integration that if I am driving and I ask sirir a question ( or a failed one) it doesn't sit on the Siri interface till the end of time, rather than going back to my previous task.

Also better graphics cars Apple, not 3-4 year old ones in new macs.

I don't get why I can say "Hey Siri, turn on Wifi" (or Bluetooth), but she freaks out when I say "Hey Siri, turn on Hotspot." She even acknowledges that "I can't do that, but you can do it in Settings." (With a button to link you to settings)

Even just now, my screen was awake and I said, "Hey Siri, lock my phone." She replied with "Surprisingly, that is not within my capabilities."

Security maybe?

There's probably 101 more important issues to fix on Mac OS.

How about "Hey, Jony"

Terrible Dock and menubar extra icon designs. What is wrong with Apple designers these days?

The iOS team got it right.... a microphone!

Technically, there's no Siri icon on iOS. A microphone doesn't make sense for siri since it could be used for many applications... the waveform makes much more sense... and, it's gorgeous.

He's the thing I figured out about Siri - it works great straight out of the box, but as soon as your microphone collects any dust Siri turns to the garbled mess that is the stereotype.

Nope, it doesn't need a touchscreen.

Make Siri better that should be higher priority instead of porting it to other OS's .. Instead, let's spread less-than-mediocre across the whole line. PC makers have their bloat ware, Apple has this I guess o_O

Actually, the more Siri is used across platforms- the more likely it is to get the attention it needs.

I'll be very happy to get Siri on OS X, but yikes, that icon is not great. It's simply not 'iconic', it's like they just took a screen capture of the Siri waves and called it a day.
Or, more likely, that someone else did.

Then it's good that you don't put your computer in your pocket... /s

In other related news, it has come to light that cleaning - and generally taking care of - your smartphone and other belongings, has the general benefit of prolonging the items' functional lifetime, as well as keeping it closer to full function for longer, in comparison to treating it like a loaf of bread...

You really think Apple would hold it back because a relatively small user base (Mac users) would gain the ability to use it? You do understand that iOS users (with Siri capability) are in the 100 millions correct? No, that's not their reason for not having introduced it on Macs yet.

Have "maximise window" actually maximise the window. There is no need for this fullscreen nonsense on desktop apps.
Have a PROPER snap feature to work with multiple windows, the current one is a joke.
Have a functional setup for people who want to work on multiple monitors. Seriously, working on multiple screens is horrible on OS X.
Give us the option to turn the dock OFF.
What kind of selfish post is this? Next you will be asking Apple to allow folders on top. /s

I love that Siri icon, it looks beautiful. So it will definitely be changed before the release. I expect something like this:

...only of course with super-saturated colours.

laughed out loud really :D

If Siri will automate such things as Hey, Siri restart the computer, please, reconnect my wifi, open 3rd party app... this will satisfy me :)

"Hey Siri"

*6 devices instantly light up and listen as you slowly back out of the room*
This. It's already a problem for loads of people with multiple devices and those whose partners/friends also have Siri "listening out". We need to be able to give our individual Siris nicknames.
