Standards thankfully a concern ?

Yeah, but there are standards and there are standards. I worked with a fellow many years ago who's "standard" for implementation was "run to fin, put it in." I get that same feeling about Apple software these days. Oddly enough, that fellow's name was also Steve.

The Menu Bar icon in particular looks like it could be a placeholder icon, with a finalized design, perhaps depicting a microphone or waveform, to come in the future.
Oh no, that's the new Jony Ive design, till release all icons will be replaced by text in a round box.

You want to add ANOTHER icon to my menu bar? This one is a monster sized one so where does it end? Why isn't Siri included in the magnifying glass functionality?

Rumors have indicated Siri integration will be one of the key features coming in OS X 10.12, and new screenshots of a Siri menu bar and Siri app icon suggest Apple is indeed working on bringing Siri to the Mac in its 2016 operating system update. The screenshots were shared with MacRumors by a source who has provided us with reliable information about Apple's software plans in the past.

In the menu bar, there's a simple Siri black and white icon that features the word "Siri" surrounded by a box, while the full dock icon is more colorful and features a colorful Siri waveform in the style of other built-in app icons. Clicking on either of the icons brings up a Siri waveform to give users a visual cue that the virtual assistant is listening for commands, much like on iOS devices when the Home button is held down.

In addition to accessing Siri through these two buttons, a hands-free "Hey Siri" activation command is also supported. "Hey Siri" is an option that's disabled by default at the current time, but it can be turned on in the Preferences menu.

Siri integration in the Mac is still in the early stages of development, but the assistant will presumably be able to answer many of the same queries and perform many of the same tasks it can on iOS devices - opening apps, conducting web searches, controlling HomeKit, sending text messages, reading emails, setting calendar events, and more.

Because work on Siri is far from complete, there's a chance these icons could be tweaked between now and when the feature is introduced as part of OS X 10.12 at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. The Menu Bar icon in particular looks like it could be a placeholder icon, with a finalized design, perhaps depicting a microphone or waveform, to come in the future. WWDC is set to take place from June 13 to June 17, with a keynote event scheduled for Monday, June 13, which is where we'll see our first glimpse of OS X 10.12 and iOS 10.

I ask when Siri will be in Polish? Is Apple treats us seriously?

I feel bad for you. I don't know if it's the number of english-is-not-my-first-language people or the number of people that are somewhere on the spectrum, but it's sad when a good piece of humor flies right over so many people's heads.
Actually surprised at the amount of people that didn't get the joke.

For no reason in particular, you may enjoy this today...

:D I was going to post that, but wanted to see exactly how many people wouldn't get it.

Please don't let this be the main feature of the new OS X. Voice assistants are boring and don't understand more than half of the times what I'm saying. I don't think the technology is right there yet.

If that is the best they can do it is time to take a look at Windows again (however I would miss Apple wallpapers). Instead of adding half-baked UI features and spending time explaining the history about the next OS name, better focus on back-end engineering. PC manufacters are getting close to design hardware that is more attractive than Mac and Windows is doing innovating faster, soon there will be more reason to switch back to Windows, Mac still has the advantage of a better OS architecture based on Unix, better UI, better window managment and superior support for high resolution screens (Windows scaling is just terrible in laptops with hight resolution screens).

The mouse cursor getting bigger when you shake it is the only thing Apple did that was really useful in the last ~5 years, I think. The revamped UI was nice, but unnecessary.

I've been using 10.8.5 on my main machine (still am) and haven't used the newer OSes since I used Mavvicks for about 20 minutes, or when I'm using someone else's computer.

I worked a contract recently where they provided a 2015 15" rMBP and used El Cap a bunch and finally got to use a lot of features I've read about but not had till that point.

Unit conversion in Spotlight is the other thing, other than shake to find the cursor that I find are the only things I miss.

At last!!
This should've been around for a long time, but i'm glad it's finally arriving! I do hope they don't just simply port it and keep it at iOS usability, but rather improve it to do much more advanced things, such as:
"Hey Siri
..open my pictures folder"
..copy these files to 'folderName' "
..play itunes playlist 'playlistName' "
..write an email to 'contactName' with 'mailContent' "
..sync my iPod/iPhone music"
..type 'textInput' "
..play/ pause/ next/ previous" (for iTunes, Quicktime,...)
..set volume to 'volumeLevel %' "

i could go on for aaaaages, but you get the point.
I really don't care so much about search querries on the internet, but rather about integration with the system! Apple, please do this the right way and don't rush it! :)

You do realize this is just a rumor correct like every other mockup out there of the latest iPhones. Since the new OS X hasn't even been announced or released in beta, why in the world would they focus on designing icons until they get to that stage? And if then the icons typically change greatly until eventually released to the public. Take a breathe =)

The article says they are screenshots of 10.12, it's not a mockup.

I don't think you understand Apple's dev cycle if you think they haven't designed the final icon yet. WWDC is next month; all Apple teams are mostly in lockdown at this point, just tweaking and fixing bugs.

That's innovation guys, adding dead beat siri to OSX.

Hopefully Apple shows us they are still a tech company and update siri soon.. OR else they really have become a fashion firm.

It's going to be hilarious when the Mac OS section at WWDC concludes with him hamming up this feature, something that probably should of been implemented a year or so after iPhones got this.
