Well I hope the engineers think this through... It would make more since to integrate Siri into Spotlight. Perhaps even change the name from Spotlight to Siri for less confusion, all the while allowing the user to either speak or type their queries.

Nice Icon but I don't think it is even necessary to have a dock icon. Why not just keep it in the Menu Bar.

Agreed. It's not like Spotlight has its own dock icon either. Also likewise, I find the Launchpad and Mission Control icons utterly useless.

In regards to the icon, what disturbs me the most is the lack of consistency in OS X icons, or more globally the lack of a consistent theme or approach.

Icons like mail, contacts and calendar are realistic, have depth, and dare I use the word are skeuomorphic. Newer icons like iBooks and iTunes are more abstract and flat. I don't know that I really have a personal preference, but I am bothered by the feeling that this gives me that the OS is not a smooth, holistic thing, but patched together pieces.

OS X really needs someone to come in and give the UI a once over to make it consistent, and predicable.

As a side note, while I like Window 10, that is also the feeling that I get when moving between something like the Settings app (new) and the control panel (old). It also makes Windows 10 feel cobbled together.

This new Siri icon will look great on my all NEW Skylake MacBook Pro, which is rumored to debut at WWDC.

Wishful thinking......Sigh.

They better deliver, or this will be what happens after the keynote:

And this will happen at the Apple Campus:

Just another piece of bloat I'll be disabling with Onyx immediately after installation... Siri's continued uselessness only interferes with me using my phone, I cant even begin to imagine how intrusive 2016 Apple will make it on OSX. Let's hope you're not forced into losing all speech services if you disable it like you are on the iPhone.

Are we watching the same thing?

Absolutely embarrassing. They've basically announced nothing except an iMessage clone (that lets you change the text size of your message -- hooray!) and a Facetime clone. It's the most painful 2 hours of any tech keynote I've seen in a long time. Oh and an Amazon Echo clone.

This is so ridiculously late. Siri should've been implemented into OSX on 10.7 or 10.8, 4 years ago. Now they'll brand it as a killer feature.. I really don't understand Apple anymore.
The Mac has supported voice commands for at least 20 years. Granted it wasn't "smart" like Siri, but it is usable. So I am sure they didn't see a reason to rush to put Siri on the Mac.

Screaming consumes more oxygen. Given that he is alive in a grave, I would expect him to use his final few breaths wisely. He may also potentially have a protoype iPhone with him and could scream:

"Hey Siri, Call Tim Cook"

I'm sorry I can't find Team Cook should I search the web?

I think he would say Hey Siri - tell me a joke...WWDC is coming soon and I am the selling point for the Mac.

The mouse cursor getting bigger when you shake it is the only thing Apple did that was really useful in the last ~5 years, I think. The revamped UI was nice, but unnecessary.

I thought the tabbed browsing in Finder was an extremely useful update, and can't stand when I'm working on Windows machines that don't have it.

Are you being sarcastic? There are 1 billion active iOS devices. Even four years ago in 2012 there were 400 million active iOS devices. 10 million laptops/desktops is completely insignificant compared to that.

There are 1 billion active Apple devices, some of them iOS and some of them Macs.

Your point still stands though: Siri on iPhone must be the majority.

That does not look like an icon. That literally looks like a picture that has been just cut in a circle.

Wtf Apple.

Yawn. wish apple would divert their attention to more useful endeavors. Siri has been the first thing I turn off on every iPhone i've had since it was introduced. The only thing i've ever had it be useful for was setting alarms. Lame.
