For the life of me, I will never never understand why people don't consider using a belt loop pouch to carry their phone. I realize there is a stigma that's been attached to doing that, considering it very "nerdy" but really to take a great idea and put it down is just nuts. The phone is most secure in the pouch. Some pouches are very slim and don't project out very far. They protect the phone from most impacts. They are very handy under any circumstance. They protect the phone if it's in a case from dust, because dust never accumulates in most pouches, as far as I'm concerned, they look fine and do the job in every way in this whole thread I have not seen one suggestion of that.

Could someone explain to me one negative to this outside of the artificial nerdy stigma that's been attached?
Personally I tried it for a while but with my ADHD navigation skills I was always catching it on things and either breaking the holster (yes, even Otterbox Defenders) or yanking myself around. It's just as easy to put it in my back pocket while standing and front pocket while sitting if there's not a safe spot to place it.

I've sat on my phones for a good ten years without issue, and I don't buy overly thick cases, just thin sleeves to protect from scratches or gouges.

I don't know that it's great for the phone, but it isn't an automatic destruction either.

I never do it. Mine only hits the back pocket if I’m standing. I wear a lot of collared shirts so usually I can put it in the breast pocket when sitting down.

I don’t keep my iPhone in my pocket. However it has been sat on accidentally by myself my kids and husband on many occasions. It was fine lol

I wouldn't keep a phone in my back pocket. The phone itself or outline of the phone in a pocket is an open invitation to thieves. Some are so skilled you won't even feel it leave.

Agree. The only time I’ve ever had a phone stolen was when it was in my coat pocket. I was on a packed tube (subway). Had been using the phone and then decided I wanted to read my kindle. Stupidly put my iPhone 4 this was 2012 into my coat pocket. I was on the train for less than 10 minutes, it was 3 stops. When I got off to change my phone was already gone. Didn’t even feel it.
