This. I configured my 2013 27" iMac with the 3TB Fusion drive and would do it again if I was buying one today.

Just don't get too crazy trying to bus a bus-powered 3TB back up drive. Finally found what appears to be the only brand one in existence:

note: all other 3TB external drives I could find are desktop ones, i.e. not bus-powered.
