12.9-inch iPad ?? You gotta be jokin' right ?

I don't get Apple people... When the 9.7-inch iPad came out, everyone was excited, then they craved for something smaller, then Apple responded with a 7-inch mini.

And now they actually want a "larger than life" 12.9 ??

Why on earth would you even want one of these ?? At least with the 9.7-inch you can carry it....

Besides, i thought people used their Macs for more stuff, since iOS is limited anyway.... Unless, its all for viewing photos.

... Its all about the photos isn't it

A 10.1 would be better and since when is the mini 7"?

It's like a touchscreen monitor with no stand. Come on! Don't be shy and try the 22" Gigapad!

Serious, i don't quite get the point, but, hey, sure it would make some people very happy... For a while!

I find Apple's reasoning of not moving to, or having different sizes of iphone interesting when they have 2 ipad sizes, and possibly a 3rd size.

instant buy for me if they release a bigger iPad.

+1

I read newspapers and weekly/monthly magazines on the iPad, which would be readable directly ( i.e. without constant magnifying) on a Maxi.
Forthermore, I surf with the iPad, so maxi is also helpful.
And some applications (SimpleMind, Business Model, Inkflow) would be easier to use.

(For books, more than the current iPad is not necessary.)

Yes, I am waiting for an iPad Maxi.

Would be good for comics.

You have a point. That would open a new segment I forgot in my above list, actually.

I'm all for a larger iPad, more storage, capacitive pen input option, Aperture for iOS, Final Cut Pro X for iOS, and a full Photoshop for iOS. Then I won't have to lug around a laptop at all. Now we just need to thunderbolt daisy chain some of those new Mac Pros into a cluster with a large thunderbolt RAID and actual work will go much faster.

Edit: Oh yeah, and if we can have like a Showtime or whatever Apple TV uses mode on iOS, that would be another great addition.

An iPad Pro, perchance?

The 12.9 inch iPad would be great for photographers people that watch a lot of movies and it would be perfect for musicians or someone that does a lot of presentations.

I personally watch a lot of TV & Tv Series on my iPad so a 12'9inch would be perfect for someone like me.
The only thing that could see that it would be horrible to use the 12'9 inch iPad for would be games

I just really hope that apple do bring one out because i would buy one straight away no questions asked.Just purely to watch movies and Tv Series on

As a musician who uses the iPad for production and live performance all the time, I think this is totally awesome.

Heck, I was afraid they were gonna can the full-sized iPad because of how many people love the mini.

I'd buy this and the mini.

Who would need an 13 inch iPad? Dr.? Engineers?

That would be a niche product. I believe that iPad (or any tablet) of such size would make little sense. However, make it a convertible computer (switching between laptop and tablet - like some upcoming Samsung devices do) and it could work. Mostly as a laptop and occasionally as a tablet.

True, might be too heavy to carry it with one hand.

I like this a lot. I'm tired of tiny screens. I hope they improve the VPN compatibility though. That's still the deciding factor for me above screen size. I'm playing it safe and waiting for news on this to com out on http://vpnexpress.net. Hope they share additional specs on the iPhone 5 too.

I think the market for the MaxiPad would be small, but I think it would be there.

It falls very nicely into the whole "second screen" concept which eould be a perfect compliment to a new Apple TV.

I would assert that many people do not take their iPads out of their homes. So size is less of an issue for them.

I could also see Enterprise users combining the MaxiPad with a keyboard to create a Mac ultra book of sorts.

Perhaps Apple would design the MaxiPad to run OS Mavericks and accomplish what Microsoft has so far failed to do with its Surface tablet.

Apple will lead the way

Mobile integration to laptops simply failed to catch on. Portable computers without keyboards (iPhone/iPad & wannabes) are a HUGE success. Continuing this trend and continuing the wild success of portable device architecture however is a huge need.

Apple :apple: is leading the portable computer industry down a road that eventually will be considered seamless. In the future, keyboards and mice (or trackpads) will be optional items for which you use sparingly for any portable device except for those who must have laptops. Touch interfaces will rule the industry and every appliance you have will be operated with touch features.

This integration will occur most likely through a portable device which we all have become accustomed to - the phone/ipad like device. This will also communicate with each and every device in our home, work devices and anything else which requires identification checked prior to activity by biometric (fingerprint?) check prior to authorization to adjust item. Each of the following can be controlled by NFC or like technology.

- Televisions will not have remotes any longer except as an option. Portable devices will know "YOU" and adjust everything from playlist, sound and darkness levels, channel list, show recommendations & ratings, to your preferences. This can be passed on to your children's ratings being restricted, etc.

- Fridge - Make list by simply reading images that go directly to store for delivery or to a list that can be sent for shopping on the go. The store can even pull items prior to arrival and paid items can be simply picked up at agreed upon time.

- Thermostat - Many of us today have network thermostats that can be controlled wirelessly, this will allow app integration.

- Lights - Again controlled by apps on our phone or iPad like device.

- Stoves/Grills - Cooking temperature and actual temperature of cooked item at our finger tips

- Televisions / Stereos - User acknowledgement will dictate settings, sound levels, stereo settings, etc.

- Locks - The combination of your phone and your biometric input (fingerprint?) will unlock doors, computers or anything else requiring security.

The ideas are endless but first we have to become accustomed to getting rid of the keyboard and mouse. Apple :apple: will lead us there. All the nay-sayers get in line, but five years ago you were all laughing at the iPhone and then the iPad like devices... now you are all claiming yours are better. :apple:

I am not sure I would buy one, but I can think of a lot of uses for it. Air Display would be much more useful, Spashtop/Logmein/etc.. would be easier to use, it would be better for photo editing, watching video/movies/TV, etc..

I would need to handle it first. I never had an issue with the weight of the Original iPad, so I am not as worried about weight as I am about how cumbersome it would be to handle while typing on the on screen keyboard.
