Obviously they haven't. Apple's lost their hold on me. OSX is the only thing I want to do with Apple anymore. As soon as there's a worthy competitor, or Apple outright f's it up, I'm out for good.

Talk about cluttering up an already cluttered product lineup.

Keep.
It.
Simple.

Have Apple learnt anything from Steve circa 1997?
[doublepost=1483899836][/doublepost]Sure, maybe they could add a new "iPad Mini Pro" to the lineup. I mean, why not? What's one more?
Please make ipad Mini with same specs as the pros

bezel free at 10.5 could basically mean it will be like the 9.7 version...if it's 10.5 i would buy that for sure

And I'm headed the other way ... I'm going to let my MBP and iMac wither to dust ... go with iOS phone and pad ... but move away from the ecosystem that is iTunes. Somewhere on the horizon I will be off the Apple fetish.

I predict the next iPad Pro will come in green-gold and blue-gold in addition to the already trendy gold and rose-gold.
Judging by the type of tattoos I see trendy young people getting, there will be an owl-gold too.

Pro is a marketing term I think . It has no definition for computer hardware. Just like light stuff doesn't necessarily make you slim and smart stuff doesn't mean the purchase itself is smart.

For sure. Still, amazed by how many people, even when advised of that, continue on actually believing it represents some kind of threshold based on real life usage of one being a professional. Or the romanticized notion of being a "creative." So adorable.

There's even a PlayStation 4 Pro. I guess its supposed to be for professionals like attorneys, gardeners, CPAs, real estate brokers, dentists, stone masons, engineers, doctors, teachers, graphic artists, construction contractors, pro football players, who like to play video games.

Most of us are moving away from Apple in one way or another. We even purchased a Windows 10 PC machine for Christmas to evaluate a move. I does look promising. It is a shame that Apple has gone so far off course. I never thought after all these years with Apple products that I would switch.

Apple is obviously being milked for short term profits.

Apple have never released upgradeable laptops, Apple are well known for being a closed system and not wanting users to open up their devices. I wouldn't exactly call their laptops crap, they still have a decent design and a great OS. Are they expensive? Yes but I think you pay the premium at the start, but the devices last a long time and require far less maintenance than any other computers on the market.
My 2012 cMBP that has had its RAM upgraded to 16Gigs of RAM, and an SSD says otherwise. I've also upgraded an older model MacBook, and two other cMBPs as well. The family LOVED their Macs, because of the ability to do this. The same for iMacs, and Mac minis. Those same family members are disappointed when I tell them that they have to,spend BIG $$$ now to get something that will last anywhere as long as their current Macs.

But keep dreaming, and apologizing.

I absolutely love my 128 GB iPad Pro 9.7 (with brydge air keyboard), if I don't need my work apps i carry this during the day instead and it's a perfect companion. That said, it's become SO useful that there have been times I've wished for a slightly bigger screen (although not the size of the 12 as i find that too large for a tablet (for my needs). My problem will be not selling my 9.7 to upgrade as I feel the resell value of iPad's isn't all that great and I've only had this for just over a year and some change. And since day one of the first iPad I hoped for a reduced bezel design. Oh first world problems...

I'm not moving. I have a 5K iMac with the latest 4 GHz i7 Skylake CPU with 24 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and a 5K wide color gamut screen. It's a fast machine with a superb display that works great for my photography.

It also plays well synergistically with my iPad Air 2, iPhone 6+, my Apple Watch, and 2012 MBA, effortlessly keeping information (calendars, notes, apps, reminders, contacts, browser bookmarks, music, photos, etc) sync'd across all devices with zero effort on my part - it literally just works. No complaints.

Support is great. Earlier this week I brought my 4 year old MBA in to the Apple Store for a battery replacement. The Apple website said it would take 3-5 days, my advisor at the Apple store said one day, and it was actually completed the evening I brought it in. $129, easy peasy, terrific service that exceeded my expectations, and am now back up to 8-9 hours of use.

Why would I even consider switching?

Apple has made a conscious decision to keep the iPad as an entertainment and content device rather than moving forward and adding the capability to make it into a productivity device. They seem terrified to add the necessary features, fearing that doing so will hurt Macbook sales. By the same token, they’ve decided that moving forward on the Macbook would hurt iPad sales!
Perfectly stated. Apple is paralyzed by their desire to not impact other product sales. So because of this, the entire lineup sells fewer and fewer YoY, the usability stagnates, and Apple refuses to sell compelling, accessible(updated and affordable) MacOS products.

It's disappointing.

Ok that's enough shenanigans there... What he attempted to say (in a very poor manner) is what a lot of us have been thinking all along: If the iPad is to replace the laptop for the masses, it needs to have the same functionality as one. Not "slap MacOS onto an iPad" all Surface style, rather a far more robust version of iOS is needed. Touch interface combined with the feature set you'd find in MacOS. Simple.

As for the product lineup, this "low-priced" model stuff needs to stop. There's nothing low priced about it, it's just a clever way for Apple to raise product prices on its newest models while claiming the cost to enter the product line is the same. We've seen it now on the iPad, iPhone and MacBook Pro product lines. Stop it Apple, you're not fooling anyone here.

No, that is not what he was saying. He clearly said he wanted macOS on the device, as do MANY others.

For the detractors, there are these cool new things out called "monitors".

Using an iPad as my desktop would be pretty cool, imo.

the macbook line when steve jobs was alive had

13/15/17 inch pro lines
13" macbook line
and macbook air line

the ipad will literally just look like that

3 sizes and probably continue with the air line. I think theyre killing the 7.9" size

so many angry apple fans and yet apple bucks every industry trend as every other manufacturer suffers even more. i'll believe it when i see in the data.

the only way people would be happy would be to add osx features to the ipad. the keyboard and best stylus support isn't enough. i think you guys should move on from apple. be happy.

There's some real cry babies out there huh? Not fair. Not fair? Like Apple are providing a state run service? Jesus wept. Talk about entitlement culture.

Not everyone wants to or has the knowledge to upgrade their computers, that's why some people max them out when purchasing. Some people do upgrade them and that's fine, but I don't buy a computer to upgrade, I want it to work straight out of the box until I need to buy another one. So far that hasn't let me down, I've never upgraded my 2011 MacBook Pro or my 2012 iMac. And as I've mentioned it is my opinion that Mac's are better value in the long run, as they don't require as much maintenance and tend to last longer!

Oh and I did say in previous posts that I made a mistake about the upgrading. No need to be an arsehole about it!!

Tell us where else to get MacOS on compelling hardware.

I'll not hold my breath.

Exactly my point as well!! Surely if you don't like something you return it or don't buy it in the first place.

I didn't read through all 8 pages first. I didn't know that was the posting requirement here on MacRumors. But Thanks for cursing.

No one else in my family knows how to upgrade their machines. That's why I've done the upgrading to all those machines. Now that it's not an option anymore, these same family members are much less likely to spend 3+ times more on a Mac, than a comparable, upgradeable windows machine.

I get it that people don't like some of these rumours but why on earth do some people reply as if these analyst expectations come directly out of the brain of Tim Cook?
