I understand this is MacRumors, but if the report if "the claim is highly unlikely to be true," then why are you posting this as front page news?

1. Page hits

2. They were upfront that it is sketch. Unlike some times when they don't say that and make it seem like it is fact to better point 1

IMO, 4.3" is the perfect smartphone size. I briefly had an HTC Evo and loved the screen size but hated the OS and switched back to the iPhone. I just don't believe this rumor though, haha.

Apple isn't likely to do this until next years iPhone, but it would be a welcome change if they did.

But would it be the same resolution? If not might annoy some people, there are already enough across all the various devices.

I do however think this is a load of twaddle.

iPhone Mini! iPhone Mini! If they can [eventually] make an even bigger iPhone, further alienating customers who, unlike Android users, actually also own a tablet and thus don't need a phoblet, surely they can also make an awesome new 3.5" iPhone? I do hope so. My 4S isn't going to last forever.

Papers, News Channels and the media in general will say anything to get a story....I'm not suggesting that it's a 100% untrue by it's highly unlikely.

I find it sad that the media is so desperate.

Think about it.

If they increase the size of the screen (in width as the iPhone 5 already had a height increase) then there's two options:

1) They will increase the number of pixels displayed to something like 1136 x 700. This would make almost ALL apps incompatible. Way to piss off the devs that are already having to update for iOS 7.

2) They DECREASE the density of the screen to keep the same number of pixels over the larger area. This would result in a less than Retina quality screen. Not happening.

Calling BS on this too.

Actually after using 4.3 and 4.7 for a while ..they do seem like nicer multimedia friendly devices .. I did also use an iPhone 5 and I must admit I Also love the 4 inch in comparison to the 3.5

So am I. What they saw if anything was a prototype either for the 6 series or from the 5 that was rejected.

Apple would not be changing things this late in the game.

I suppose it is possible that Apple might skip a '5S' and yes this new size could be legit. But still not a change. They would have decided this ages ago.
You'd think a site like Bloomberg wouldn't peddle crap from the Far East. This doesn't pass the smell test. They really want people to believe Apple made some last minute change to increase the screen size (if its even possible to do something like that last minute), knowing it would delay the launch of the new phone (when Apple's already gone over half of the year with barely any new products)? We're really supposed to believe that?!?

Apple is probably already working on next years iPhone so its possible *that* model with have a bigger screen. Perhaps its just the timing.

That being said, I'm going to make prediction that Apple is going to pull what they did with the iPad 3--which was to release the iPad 4 just six months later.

Agreed... Apple has kind of painted themselves into a corner with all of the Retina marketing. Now every other smartphone offers bigger displays, but Apple can't easily match the competition without running into one of these two problems. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

That sounds wrong. Why would Apple give consumers a bigger screen? It would be like Henry Ford giving consumer a faster horse!

This just in from AP:

A claim of a new genetically engineered California Gila Monster infestation at Foxconn's super double secret iPhone 5S factory is causing a delay of the yet unannounced phone.

Witnesses outside the Ba Bar in an unnamed location in Eastern China claim the Gila Monsters, which are all black and wear custom New Balance shoes, is attracted to the features, which vary in each phone, and can include all or none of NFC, 4.3" screens, and fingerprint pads depending on which analyst's vision the Monster encounters.

Apple would not comment on the story but random people online too young or smart to attend business school to know anything about the subject insisted Gila Monsters devouring the iPhones, causing shortages, would de facto, make the phone seem more popular because no one could actually like iPhones as much as Apple says people do.

No way they are increasing the screen size but if they hit 4.5" to 5" I would likely switch back from Android. I had an iPhone 5 but got rid of it for a note 2. Somewhere in between would have been better.

I may be in the minority, but I am so tired of reading iPhone rumor articles every day. Don't misunderstand, I like my iPhone and iPad, but I miss the days when MacRumors posted on Mac's. Currently, iPhone's, iPad's, and iOS are the main "rumors" focus (a new camera cable? that's amazing!). It's trifling.

/end rant. Carry on :)

Exactly, Apple is too lazy to create a new design in one year, it takes them two...

Changing aspect ratios and screen sizes often places a huge burden on developers, who have to re-size all of their products for compatibility.

I'm going to guess that apple will introduce a larger screen next year, after giving developers a break to get used to the 4.0"

I'm not buying another 4 inch iPhone, it's just too small for my eyes. Every time I pick up a Galaxy S4 or S3, I love the extra screen space and it's so much easier on my eyes. I will use my 4S till Apple either comes out with a larger screen or I will switch just my phone, I can't strain my eyes any longer -
