How about this? Shrink the top bezel and eliminate the home button. That would put it around the Moto X size. It'll love to see what to do with the home button in the iPhone 7, though.

That may be true but I'm sure they could think of something innovated to replace it but still keep the core functionality.

So u think that a lot of people bought the 6/6+ just for the features and not the the screen real estate? If so You are sadly mistaken. Because the best selling point of the 6/6+ is the bigger screen. Ask the people who migrated from android. The only thing the iPhone was missing is the bigger screen. Biggest phone for Apple ever and most record breaking sales ever for the iPhone. Really don't know what u guys are going to do, because the 6/6+ is obviously the way forward for Apple now for the iPhone. Wouldnt u go with what is more profitable for u? I am sure most would, I know I would. So why would we bash apple for going for the bigger screen. Since having my iPhone 2g back in the day I have come to realized that technology will never stay the same for to long. and I have prepare my self for this Change as we move forward into the future. Who would have known that phones would be what there are today. We came a long way from the the flip phones to using them to pay at the register, A mean just saying.

In most parts of the world a lot of people use there phones for more than just making or taking calls. There are used for TV's, booking flights, gaming, just about every thing u name it. And a phone with a bigger screen gives u a more delightful experience for doing these these things and more.

There are a lot of people out there who just want the latest and greatest iPhone, and bought the 6 or 6+ because it was new. Yes there were people who bought it for the screen size, but that wasn't everyone, there are other upgrades in them.

And for me at least to use the phone for more than just calls it needs to be small enough that it can go in your pocket, and be used with one hand, otherwise why not just throw a laptop or iPad in your bag?

This would be a bad move by Apple because it will confuse the consumer. Imagine your average guy goes into a store and the sales man would tell him "Do you want a 4-inch display, or only 0.7 larger, or 0.8 larger than that?"

Trust me, there are people out there that got no idea what a GB is. They just want to go on Instagram and YouTube.

The current setup is good enough, you either want an iPhone or the mega sized iphone.

I hope this is true... Apple abandoned a lot of people who appreciated the smaller size of their devices. It would be nice if they continued to give them a solution - one that didn't rely on just saying "buy last year's phone" (or a year from now... buy a 2 year old phone).
If Apple indeed releases a normal sized 4" iPhone I really hope they give us the same internals as the bigger screen models. If not, they'll just be repeating the iPhone 5c.

It wouldn't be that confusing, they can just look at the different screen sizes and see which one they like.

My god... how do people shop for Macbooks then?

11"... 13"... 15"

Air... Pro... Pro with Retina

/mindblown :D

" The supply chain sources suggest the new phone may debut in the second half 2015 with female users as the targeted audience for the smaller phone."

I think this a fake rumor. Most who complain about how big the iPhone 6 is are guys. Ladies for the most part; are using big phones.

But if Apple is making a new 4"; that great! I love the 4" size and have a 5C Yellow 32GB model.

No it is not. I can not securely hold the iPhone 6 with my hand and read the top of the screen and the home button at the same time. Double tapping the touch ID is just annoying, and you can't get notifications centre down. Its even worse when the phone is in a case.

A 4 inch phone would be great for those of us who would like a one handed use phone. Still not sure why people have an objection to this. If there was a 4,4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhone 6S, everyone would be happy. My choice to buy a 4 inch phone would not impact on your enjoyment of the larger phones.

see. this is how i know you haven't used the phone long enough.

double tap on the home button and swipe down anywhere on the top half of the screen and notification centre gets put down.

ok go and buy a 4" galaxy then. i just used my little brothers iPhone 5 to put a movie on his phone and my god the screen is unbearable.

Your absurd arrangement of delectables entices me to garner some
Junior's cheesecake and cigars de Cuba. They refresh the soul and loosen the waste.

Three things ....
#1: The menu isn't "absurd".
I've got hotdogs/a side/dessert/ice cold milk & a fresh, post-meal ciggy.
What's "absurd" about that?!?

#2: Junior's cheescake=vastly overrated, and overpriced, too.
I had French cheesecake by Entenmann's.

#3: Cigar afficionados tell me that Cuba doesn't rotate her tobacco crops.
Dominican Republic farmers do, thus rendering a far superior product.

Perhaps your consumables clichés need updating.

I apologise I meant quick reply for a notification, not notifications centre. I have used large phones for more than enough to know they suck for my purposes. Giving to constantly double tap touch ID to do something I can already do on a 4 inch screen is annoying and a massive waste of time.

I use an iPhone 5 and the screen is glorious. Not too big not to small.

Still not sure why you're opposed to a 4 inch option. You obviously like the bigger phones that I find impartial, so buy one and be happy you can. My preference for a 4 inch screen is not going to stop you doing that.

How? Apple already sells two 4 inch phones. A new one with updated internals wouldn't fragment anything.

Upgrade internals? Sound so easy huh...Apple need to redesign the logic board and internal parts for NFC and new form factor with all resources put in and don't get much margin. Would never happen. Passing down last year design is easier than design a new one for same tier.

Because hopefully the 4 inch phone will be a premium one. They'd offer the 6S in the three screen sizes thus keeping everyone happy.

Wouldn't require that much effort. The 5S and 5C don't cut it for those who want the latest specifications plus a conveniently one handed use phone.

I don't want Apple to abandon bigger sized screens. I want Apple to add a 4 inch iPhone 6 model to their lineup. This is hardly going 'Backwards'.

Macromours yesterday reported that more people are buying the iPhone 5S than the iPhone 6+ so that is a lot of people who are continuing to choose to buy 4 inch screens. 42 percent of buyers are buying the 5S or 5C, which is far higher than the sales makeup of the two older iPhones have been in the past (EG 4S and 5C when the 5S came out, 4 and 4S when the 5 came out).

More people bought iPhone 5S than iPhone 6+lol ..iPhone 5S got dumped by carriers at dirt cheap prices. That's why. Profit margins dictates all. 4" version margins are a lot less than current 6/6+ Unless Apple sell 4" iPhone 6 at 4.7" price which will never happen

So....will we have the following at the next launch:

~iPhone 6S

~iPhone 6S Plus

~iPhone 6S Minus

:D

~iPhone 6S

~iPhone 6S More

~iPhone 6S Less

:rolleyes::D

A 5S size iPhone6 would be great for me, and I wouldn't mind if it needed to be a bit thicker to accommodate updated specs, and maybe prefer it was because it would give me a better grip and feel better in hand.

I realize I won't get EXACTLY what I want, but a 4.3 - 4.5" iPhone would be perfect for me.

4" iPhone 2015

Don’t think the 4” 5C polycarbonate shell was run out as a one-trick-pony. I’m seeing a full-spec new C.

I can definitely see space for a revamped iPhone 6C in the future.

The "news" title is hilarious. Notwithstanding, I'm not sure I believe Apple will continue to produce a phone with a 4" screen. It would make sense though if they did and called it their budget phone.

That won't be budget by any means, but would be priced slightly below iPhone 6 level.

Can you say: "F-R-A-G-M-E-N-T-A-T-I-O-N" ? Sure, I knew ya could.

Someone could call it choice opportunity.
