So what do we see ....
Same exact phone like the Iphone 5, 5S, SE and now the SE2 ?
Same bad screen ratio and screen resolution.
We use a new CPU and another Camera Module and here we go again....

Seriously ?

Really? They are forcing you to use Bluetooth headphones? There are no wired Lightning headphones that ship with the phones? Or third-party Lightning headphones? There is no way to use an adaptor that is not shipping with the phone?

And I will repeat, again, that I am not surprised that the back of iPhones in other countries may have more, than it does in America -- again, the point I was making is that the LACK of it does NOT make this video fake, since in SOME COUNTRIES, there is NOT anything else written on the back.

I'm not sure how many more times I have to repeat this! :D

As an aside, that does not mean I think this video proves anything... I actually remain a skeptic. I was just pointing out that the objection one user had to the video, claiming it had to be fake because of the blank back except for "iPhone", didn't have a good argument -- that's all! :)

You are forced to buy a second headset, bluetooth or not (assuming you don't have one already). Or, you can try sticking those lightning earphones to your Mac. Go on. I'll watch.
That’s a big assumption you’ve got there.
[doublepost=1524846020][/doublepost]
That'll get lost or break in 5 mins.
I’ve had my iPhone 7 Plus for more than 15 months now. That’s over 100,000× longer than 5 minutes. I still have the adapter that came in the box, and it still works should I want/need to use my wired headphones.

I'm still using an iPhone SE - does anyone know if based on the A10 chip etc if new one is assumed it will work with Airpods?
AirPods use Bluetooth. You can use them with just about anything that supports Bluetooth audio.

Change for changes sake is pointless and imprudent. There's a reason wheels are still round and not triangular or square. Polishing up a classic, much beloved design, and sprucing it up with a glass back (or whatever, unknown back) is not "lazy", it's a clear sign of wisdom which has been found by knowing your product legacy, knowing what people absolutely LOVE, and refining it enough to sell a new and more useful model without removing what makes it that iconic size, shape and hand feel.

I see you've become indoctrinated into the mass consumer electronics purchasing mind set, which may be why your perception of Apple's legendary design prowess is somewhat skewed.

I see you’ve made a habit of preaching and assuming.

There’s no wisdom to be found in 2018 Apple, so you can stop trying to retrofit one just because you like it. Apple’s legendary design was legendary while Steve was around. Now all they do is iterate existing blueprints and inventory to death or release laughable duds like the Homepod. Really, what are Apple’s values at the moment, that radiate through its designs?

A design can be a classic, that doesn’t mean it’s as relevant as the day it was released. Case in point, the almost 50/50 screen to body ratio and non laminated screen is an eyesore in 2018. The size, shape and hand feel I won’t comment upon because there is indeed a sizable user demographic (myself included) that longs for smaller, smarter smartphones.

PS. Removing the headphone jack out of an otherwise identical device in 2016 could also be considered “change for change’s sake”. I really don’t know what you’re defending here.

Much like a subscription, they have a pretty fixed life-span of around ~2-3years until the battery packs in.
That’s...not how batteries work, but okay.

I’m not sure where you’ve found an iPhone SE with a non-laminated display but I’m sure iFixit would love to hear about it.

Apple has laminated iPhone displays since the iPhone 4. The SE uses the exact same display panel as the 5s.

Sorry, but you’re objectively wrong here.

Maybe it was a faulty unit. Anyway, lamination isn't everything. The SE is using 2012 display tech. iPhone displays since the 6 have a better polarizer, dual domain pixels, and photo-aligned IPS, resulting in better color, contrast and better viewing angles than the iPhone SE's screen.

Also, that abysmal screen to body ratio is unacceptable for a 2018 device (were it to be unchanged).

While they don't have OLED displays in all iphones and while the prices are so high and while screen to body ratio is not something like on S8 or S9, I will not go back from Samsung to iphone... and I did have all iphones from 2g to 7, but they are now too expensive and the differences between android and iphones are not that big.
Apple is going really wrong way.
I sold my macbook pro, apple tv, mac pro, iphone. It just does not worth it anymore.

The source of all this confusion was that your post that I was originally replying to didn't mention the reason why you pointed out that your iPhones don't have any regulatory markings on your back. I didn't know why you pointed that out, I thought you were just relaying some small tidbit of information.

Another lame update. Cook is more interested in milking existing products than developing new ones.

i'd sell my iphone x in a heartbeat for a SE2. faceid is *******.
If you own an iPhone X, I'm sure you could afford an SE2 on the side. Or just buy any other iPhone.
[doublepost=1524933449][/doublepost]I'm an Android user who does web development, and we have an iPhone 5s in the office we use for testing websites. I've been using it the past week, and while I'm a bigger fan of the Android ecosystem, I gotta say, it's really enjoyable to use an old iPhone. The size is right, the touchscreen feels more accurate, and it zips around with no lag, even for a 5-year-old phone. Seriously, I don't know why I'm a more accurate typist on a 4" iPhone vs a 5.5" OnePlus phone. :eek:

I've been looking at iPhone SEs on eBay, but with this rumored device a supposed month away, I think I'm going to hold off. I'd love a small iPhone with wireless charging (if the rumors are true). I'm slowly getting back all the features of my Palm Pixi! :D

yes, money is not an issue here but i definately wouldn't use both at the same time. no point in having the x sit there in a closet.

it will have a jack. apple know they can force expensive disposable AirPods on wealthy populations with large disposable incomes 1st, but people in less prosperous parts of the world won't stand for that **** and will vote with their wallets.

While the se is the 'budget' iPhone, it'll have a jack.
[doublepost=1524760472][/doublepost]
better how?
[doublepost=1524760596][/doublepost]
and they work fine with my Mac do they?

Lightning port is better because less likely to break or become loose than an audio jack. Also, since more data can go through it, I would think you could theoretically get better sound quality. But I don't know if I'm right about that.

Lightning is not a universal standard, it's a proprietary port which makes all accessories a) expensive and b) single-device only.

No-one ever complained about the sound quality of any iPod - the 3.5mm sounds great. I don't care if lightning sounds "better", tell that to every audio engineer using a 6.2mm/3.5mm analog jack

Well let's not re-litigate the headphone jack argument. I've gone wireless for my headsets at this point and so has Apple.

As for universal standard, with hundreds of millions of lightning connected devices out there (and in a few years, maybe a billion) there will be enough economies of scale if folks want wired connections. But likely folks won't want them since bluetooth gets better every year or two. But if a user feels differently, the dongles are cheap (Amazon sells them two for $10) if you want to use one. So buy a few and stick them on your favorite audio device.

But maybe I should say that the lightning port is fully adequate to output audio. The normal jack was great and lasted a long time. There is a minor bit of pain in this transition phase, but just a little bit and only for a couple of years. I bought my last pair of wired headphones in 2016. I'm happy to move on.

Now I've just got to see if I can craigslist/ebay a box of random wired headphones that I've collected over the last decade or so.
