Someone sent me a 20 minute video that has the occasional skipped frame. When there's not much motion it's tolerable but when things are moving I notice it.

I suppose the skipped frames happened during some conversion procedure…who knows. The video is at 25fps.

I've searched for some sort of miraculous automatic fix but the descriptions of the procedures I see look impossibly tedious…even the ones using new fancy software.

Has anyone here ever successfully fixed this issue…if so, how?

Hrm, what if you play it in a different app? LIke Quicktime, VLC, others. Perhaps one app handles the playback better than another.

Also make sure there's nothing hammering your cpu during playback that might be causing it to skip.

I'm not sure how macs handle 25fps ... could be they match 25fps on the display or some factor of 25 like 50hz, 75hz, 100hz. Or might be doing some sort of funky pull-down math.

Thanks. I should have mentioned I'm using the video in a project in editing software (DaVinci Resolve)…not complaining about a jumpy video I'm trying to watch. There are actual skipped frames in the video…any video playback I try works fine with the file but there's no player in the world that will fill in the missing frames.

I think I'm onto a workable solution and will report back here with the results.

Still…if anyone working with video editing has ever run across this and figured out a nice solution I would love to hear it.
