The cause of the delay, is hardware and not software. They are adding cameras,

I hope.

woah, hold on there chief.... I think that guy implied that he hopes it comes preloaded with 4.0... like when the ipad is released. THAT is a no-go. Yeah I agree it will upgrade to 4.0 just nicely in june/july when 4.0 is released.

Just wanted to clear that up
But some people – the French again – think to know that iPhone OS 4.0 will be released next week ;)

Not sure what MS has been doing over the past decade that's really worth sticking up for, though. Apple's been the one redefining entire markets and creating new ones. It's pretty clear where the praise should go. Apple "hate" is mostly a manifestation of the frustration caused by jealousy and envy. It's a hard, hard road for Apple-haters.

LOL
true

The more I study the iPad release, the more i feel that 4.0 is going to be delayed. Here's why:

The iPad won't be "fully" available til May. Sales will rollout starting April 3, and won't be in full swing til the end of April, aka by May. Apple is not going to announce a "major OS update coming soon" until this is underway. When Apple unveils 4.0, it will likely be a major OS update coming to current and next gen iPhones, iPods, and iPads. From here out they will need to differentiate in their keynotes what's new in each model, specifically. At that time, the website will be updated to highlight everything New that's Coming.

This would be bad move prior to imminent launch of a product. It would be very confusing for most people, and would likely affect sales, even though it shouldn't. I'd say the first week of May is the earliest we'll hear anything related to 4.0. That leaves about 2 months for folks to prepare for the launch of the next iPhone hardware. This sounds plausible, since it mirrors the announcement/launch of the iPad. The dev community is much more established now, and wouldn't need more than 2 months to prepare for a launch, if they wish too.

Do you guys not have internet tethering?? im shocked in estonia we can no problem. Its great when i am away some place i just whip out the laptop (all bluetooth) and away i go, skype, mail internet the whole lot over 3g.

What i find frustrating is that when i want to use skype over 3g, i must use the laptop rather then my iphone direct. Such a stupid rule to to block us.

I hate technology blockers, go to hell. They destroy great possibilities.

Why does it take so long for companies to utilise tech?

The music industry did not want mp3, so people do it anyway and they loose.

Same on iphone people just jailbreak, but why why why, people should not have to jailbreak to do something that you should be able to do anyway, just senseless.

Good news

This is good news. I don't mind at all if they are doing last minute bug fixes. A few days or even weeks for that matter are not a big deal. Better to have the product be right. As to 'in the supply' chain issue, not all of the software and hardware is actually in the iPad. The iPad is but one component in the whole experience.

Yes, but if it's for use in Estonia it doesn't really matter what AT&T think.

The iPhone already tethers in much of the world, so there's nothing in the OS that prevents it. It's simply up to the local provider. In the US, AT&T is still blocking it. If you're lucky enough to live in Estonia :D, you should be able to.

That quote from Jobs was simply an acknowledgment that tethering was not allowed by AT&T at the time (if it was even real).

If it was real, the question to Steve Jobs was from a guy in Sweden, Jezper Söderlund, and the email was sent yesterday. Whether the answer had anything at all to do with AT&T, I can't imagine why it would.

I don't know how Apple could prevent tethering if a mobile provider allows it.
