Found possible solution - MS OFFICE 2011 to blame?

Ok to everybody experiencing sloppy animations. DO YOU HAVE MS WORD 2011 installed. In my case after switching word 2011 to full screen and swiping to other space, ALL my mission control animation came back!
Hope it helps...

Sorry - this happens on a completely fresh install of Lion. It has nothing to do with installed software.

I did a fresh install again. And everything is working as it should.

And I'm beginning to think it might have something to do withe the Thunderbolt update. I haven't updated it this time, and everything seems fine.

I said this because somewhere I read other people complaining about that update.

Aside from that, I didn't installed Magic Prefs (for Magic Mouse) and the app that let's you change from discrete to integrated graphics.

Do you have a MacBook Air 2011 ? If yes, why do you are talking about switching between discrete and integrated graphics ?

btw.... i did not install the Thunderbolt-update and it is sloppy anyway... even when Lion is freshly installed...

I am not sure if EFI update is to blame. Because it cannot explain why all my animations are now silky smooth (all updates applied). No problems at all and I am testing this for a second day now.

Which Version do you have ?

My is "MBA41.0077.B0E" and "1.73f63"

When i wake my macbook air after approx. 1h every animation is smooth....
after a restart every animations are choppy -.-

I have a MacBook Pro 15".

Then please don't participate in this thread - it is ONLY about the Macbook Airs.

Can a moderator please delete HarryPot's posts - they will only confuse new readers.

WOW, chill out.

Just posting my experience, which could help someone out. Since it seems the culprit is not the EFI update.

I am sure that you are only trying to help - and everyone appreciates that. But in this case any talk about non Macbook Air 2011s are only confusing things. Comparison with a Macbook Pro does not help.

Mine is:
Boot ROM Version: MBA41.0077.B0E
SMC Version (system): 1.74f1 ---> different SMC

but in my case crappy animations were only for mission control and they were staying crappy :) even after hours after restart (I restart ONLY to apply updates)

hmm do you have installed all updates including the latest thunderbolt one ?
when yes, that's why you have a newer SMC-Version, because i did not installed the latest thunderbolt update.

i do not understand WHY Apple is doing an update if there are bugs like that crappy animations.... did they test the update ? or what are they doing there at Cupertino...

maybe there is a way to install the 7.0.6 kext of the stock 10.7.0 ? Problem is the EFI.... it can't be downgraded -.-

Installed 10.7.3, too.... still the same annoying problems

UPDATE 1:
by the way..... my TouchPad and MagicMouse clicks doesn't react as i want them to react.... sometimes the click which i have already done will be done when i click anywhere else... -.-

UPDATE 2:
very weird: when i open over 25 Applications and every symbol is in the dock... the dock animation is completely smooth.... can someone try this out, too ?

So should I not update? This is ridiculous, I doubt this issue will ever be formally addressed by Apple.

It seems that lowering the resolution of the screen definitely seems to remedy the problem. Maybe they underclocked or capped the performance to squeeze out some extra battery life? Seems plausible. Maybe Mountain Lion will fix this.

i bet on it, that Apple underclocked it to save some battery... they did it on the MacBook Pro 17 late 2010, too..... can't understand that.... especially Apple should look for sluggish UI...

UPDATE1:
i installed Windows 8 on my MacBook Air i5 and it is smooth like butter.... everything.... the CPU-Clock-Counter in the TaskManager of Windows shows clocks between 0,8 Ghz and 1,7 Ghz .... and it is switching very quick between these clockrates if something is done.... maybe MacOS does not overclock the the CPU and GPU when the dock is magnified ...

So choppy here

I downloaded the new EFI firmware and my computer is SO choppy...the scrolling, the typing, loading of new pages or even pages that are open an d I looked at 3 minutes ago have to "reload" when I click on the tab. You tube videos are horribly choppy.

I just lowered my resolution on the screen, I've done disc permissions, I've ran troubleshooting and reset the SMC (?) power cord unplug and plugging....

HELP! I have a 6 month old iMac 12.1 with OS Lion 10.7.3...
