My 1.8ghz Air has faster animations after the latest EFI. Same when plugged into my Thunderbolt display. Several people I know are seeing the same thing.

I pulled the trigger and installed all updates. 10.7.2, new EFI, etc. After rebooting it was sluggish (I guess I am a glutton for punishment, I knew this would happen).

Just now I ran software update again, and saw there was a new TB update. Installed that and rebooted. Graphics driver is now 7.1.4:

kextstat | grep Intel.*Graph
71 0 0xffffff7f8160c000 0x3a000 0x3a000 com.apple.driver.AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB (7.1.4) <70 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 1>
73 0 0xffffff7f81646000 0xe0000 0xe0000 com.apple.driver.AppleIntelHD3000Graphics (7.1.4) <72 70 9 7 5 4 3 1>

Still not as smooth as the day I bought this though :(

So I have yet to receive a follow-up, and it's been over a week, so I'm assuming I won't be getting another one. I just hope that doesn't mean they have dropped the issue. I want this fixed still; the recent EFI update did nothing to mend the problem.

i called the support an told them my problems including the problem with the sloppy animations (and the problem with Wifi won't connect when Bluetooth is on and the Touchpad-problem.. the pointer sometimes stay clicked the the touchpad isn clicked anymore)

The Apple-Supporter said they are now collecting problems with Lion an iCloud to patch it in a big update.... he said i have to wait at least a month....

so wait and drink a tea ...

i observed that my MacBook Air become supersmooth after a while of using it... every animation, every effect is smooth like it was before the update of the Thunderbolt.Port and the EFI...

... nevertheless after a restart it is sloppy, choppy again :(

I've noticed this too, though my MC animation isn't quite as smooth as it was before the problem began. I'm downloading the new Thunderbolt update, any news on that?

I just installed the 1.1 Thunderbolt Software Update, and my MC animation and scrolling fluidity seem even more deteriorated now. Unbelievable.

I noticed my graphics aren't as smooth also. Another thing I noticed is my Air doesn't get hot anymore and the fans never kick on, but things are slower.

I did a reinstall just to make sure it wasn't something hidden in the background, something.

all the best over there.

Definately also think so, especially noticeable during Skype video. Less fan speed and less warm. Now it gets barely warm at all, housing feels comfortable all time, but I'm also only a light user. 4-5 apps open, 2-3 desktops, few browser windows. Really seems Apple did some adjustment. However, when using 2 finger scroll in Safari it judders or jidders still and seems not smooth scrolling at all. I uninstalled click-to-flash and flash itself, but no improvement, so I put it back on again... Mine did it from the beginning - everything else is absolutely fine. What could I do? Re-install Safari?

I'm going to install Fusion and see how it works with that. If it continues to run slow I'll exchange it for a new one at work.

We're getting ready to distribute over 50 of these to our Executive Vice Presidents. Last thing we need is them complaining about how slow their MBA are vs their corp Windows PC.

As part of my testing I tried encoding a movie with Handbrake. What used to take about an hour now takes 3 hours and no fans turn on.

Any news ?

So I used the Air yesterday, it ran horrible. I installed geekbenchmark on my Air and had a co-worker install it on his. My score was 1600 and my co-workers was 6000. So they took my air to get it replaced.

I also opened up four termainal windows, did a "yes > /dev/null" in each terminal and let it sit for about an hour. No Fans turned on and no heat. Had my co-worker do the samething, his fans kicked on within 5 mins.

So thats where I am at right now.

Ok, mine is going to heat up within 1-2 mins with 6xTerminal (yes > /dev/null)

but my score with geekbench (32bit) is only aprox. 5200-5300.
Nevertheless it is sloppy with nearly every animation.... regardless of whether OSX is freshly installed or already with the files from the backup.
It makes no sense to me because with the stock 10.7.0 it worked like a charm and up from the update of the Thunderbolt-Port the problem with the animations began.....

Any more news on this issue? My computer feels slower than ever.

Actually, no ... my MacBook Air feels every day a little bit slower ...

btw
Page-Out = 4,18 gb and SWAP= 3,23gb .... and i don't know why...
or i am too demanding

Ok, same problems with my system. Will reinstalling Lion help? Or wait until 10.7.3?

Hmmm, I never thought that such a small glitch will make me so frustrated... cause apart from this Lion is working like a charm... Ok, so I WILL WAIT.

still nothing new ... in the past with the third update of an OS-Version (like X.X.3) the most problems and bugs were removed ... let's hope for the best

I am waiting too. I haven't installed EFI update 2.2 since my gfx performance is acceptable as it is. I won't risk getting even worse performance installing 2.2.

Reviving this thread to see if anyone who had the opportunity to run 10.7.3 saw an improvement in this.

It's driving me insane.
