Your screenshot again doesn't show anything about what is holding it up.

Can you take a screenshot of Safari's Activity window during the delay? Specifically for elements that are taking a while to load.

That's gonna be a problem. I don't use Safari. Is there something akin to that on Chrome?

I hate to say it but this has been happening for months to me. It'll load perfectly fine (and quickly) for most of the time but all of a sudden for a few minutes it'll hang and not load anything. Then it works fine again.

My experience, too.

I assumed it was caused by heavy traffic - but maybe not.

I usually log onto MR in the mornings on my work's PC and it seems to load slower than other sites that I go on at the same time. This could possibly be the works internet connection, but it also has been happening to me for the past few days. I have been using the Firefox browser for all these sessions at work.

Ironically, when I come home and use my MacBook Pro with Firefox, the site seems to load fine.

Can someone ping me on AIM if this is happening to you.

Like I said, just saying there's a problem doesn't help me track it down.

my aim is "chaosmint"

I'd be more than happy to help you. I just can't run Chrome's Developer Tools thing continuously for that one time it happens.

Now, if it happens once, sure I'll run the add-on for a bit to see if it happens again, but I can't be pressed to run it 24/7. Especially since it didn't happen at all today, or yesterday.

I understand that just knowing about a problem being existent is not enough to solve it. If you need help, I'll be more than happy to oblige.

A little slow this morning. Not terrible, but stills hangs for a couple of seconds changing pages.

Checked ISP speeds, they're OK - 21+mps down, 17.75 mps up.

:confused::confused:

Got the error this am again... Unable to load.

I will keep my inspection element open on this, as I have no idea if this is what you want arn.

anyway to help. BTW this resulted in safari- cannot find page, when clicking on forums. Regular site always loads fine.

anyone else constantly waiting on cdn.macrumors.com?

A CDN is a content delivery network. They are designed to increase loading speeds and reduce server load. The loading issues are not with MacRumors, but with the 3rd party ad hosting sites.

all of macrumors javascript, css, and gif files are hosted at cdn.macrumors.com. what does that have to do with ads?

I don't know. I'm just repeating what arn has said before about the slow downs. The CDN is a bit new, it may be unoptimized at this current time as well.

^^^^^^

I keep getting the same response. It hangs for 30-45 seconds and then that appears. I'm on my work computer so I can't do screenshots, but it's the exact same.

I actually tried to reply to this thread a few times and I was getting that response instantly.

Here are two screenshots of a particularly slow refresh:

Hmm. That second one probably just happened. we were having some unrelated issues.

If you could post similar screenshots again when it happens again, it would be very helpful.

thanks
