silly question does the back skin prevent the magnet from working with the smart cover?

thanks

It looks like most of these companies are saying your Smart Cover will work just fine with one of the back protectors. Whether it will stay on as securely is still in question...

thanks! looking forward to finding out. maybe they cut the skin around the magnet so there isnt a skin portion under the magnet?

Just ordered a full body skin from BestSkinEver.com. Will be getting a smart cover and ill be putting it all in a zip-up sleeve. Incase made them last year so I'll probably get the same one this year.

I use this SGP brand one on my 'vintage' iPad. even came with a clear apple (and leaf) skin to put over the apple.
Adds a little textured grip too when naked... Fusion of ideas has 'iPad2' back skins too.

I'll be keeping it in a neoprene sleeve when not using it and just be careful where I set it otherwise.

I wish there was something that covered most of the back..whats the points of only covering up to the camera and leaving like a half inch left around the edges?

The point is that dodoback thing covers the areas that hit whatever surface you set it down on without getting anywhere near the switches and controls.

Nothings's going to please everyone though--Protection options are especially subjective.

I've ordered one bestskinever and one of DODOcase's book backs. Hopefully one of these will do the trick.

From review Potenzo is a much better case than the DODOcase. I love the moleskin look for the iPads. Will wait for Potenzo to release their version on the 15th.

Anyone else having trouble checking out on BestSkinsEver? I keep getting a time out page. I'll try later.

And what's up with the cheapo shipping? $2 for the slowest shipping; 7-20 days? No other options? USPS charges $2.92 for 3-5 day shipping. So the question is, wtf?

Got a smart cover and then an incase zipper sleeve. The two work perfectly together.

Hoping the feather case I'll allow the use of the smart cover. Imordered the bestskin though and I do like the dodo skin. I don't like their case though, who the hell want that logo on the left hand side not to mention there are no viewing angles!

See if you have a PhantomSkinz in your area. Usually at malls.

Just had a black carbon fiber installed on the back. Looks nice. They have different color apples they can insert in the opening on the back as well as clear front covers. I do not have the skill or patience to install these myself.

iPad 2 back protection (no slip) with smart cover

Does anyone know of a cover that can be put on the back of an iPad 2 that will work with the smart cover but is slip resistant in some way? Maybe a skin that is made out of polyurethane like the smart covers?

I've ordered a skin to protect the back from these guys.
Their really good.
www.bestskinsever.com

That's where I ordered mine. Heard someone else mention them in a different topic. I ordered both front and back but I'll probably just put the back one on. I have a 3Gs I got when it came out and has been sliding in and out of my pocket "naked" and I don't see a single scratch on the glass. The plastic back, however, is all scratched up. It's in a speck case to hide the back but the front is still exposed. I may put a front cover on if I find I need a matte screen or they help with the smudging.

(edit)Also getting a brown voyager bag to replace my current laptop bag with a sweet looking laptop/ipad bag. May get a neoprene sleeve for when I just want to carry the ipad around, or just use the bag then as well and put my dSLR in the main area or something

The problem is the dodoback protects it if you set it down flat but when you use the smart cover to prop it up into keyboard tilt mode it doesn't look like it will protect the edge. Although if the dodoback is thick enough it may still work.

These back cover skins from gelaskins, bestskinever etc, are they just a flat cover in the center and leave the side exposed, like the sample below from Lucky Labs? I don't see any actual sample pictures of installed covers from these other sellers. The gelaskins do have some nice art designs though.

I'm really intreated in the Dodoback too. Wth the nice leather smart cover on the front, I'd like something of comparable quality on the back. From their web site, it sounds like the quality of the materials they use is very important. The outer surface of the skin is actually cloth (from Moraco apparently), so it should feel nice to hold. I'd prefer this over the plastic surface of a lot of other skins.

But the poster above made a very good point. Using the smart cover as a typing stand does cause the outer edge of the iPad to rest against your table. So I'm not sure. I've emailed the company a couple of questions, so hopefully I'll hear back on Monday and I can order something soon. Scratches just seem to inevitable without a protective skin.

Here's a photo of the Dodoback so you can see how close to the edge it protects.

Would you mind uploading some pics of your phantom skinz install? I'm interested in the matte option (which it looks like they have) but am wondering about the cut. From their website it looks like it covers more than the others.

Thanks in advance! :)
