99% of the time, I can receive and send texts with no problems, but every now and then I see that I don't receive some texts (but they show up in the GV app). I don't know what causes this, does anyone else have this problem?

I have the exact same problem. I'm not sure what that problem is, but it's definitely an issue because sometimes some of these texts can be pretty important.

I think if you dont open the official google voice app for a long time , push notifications stops working

Opening the google voice app fixes this

Just remember to open the official google voice app once in a while

I also had this same issue with text messages sometimes not coming through. I think the google voice app notifications are more flaky than the e-mail notifications. Thus, consider having SMS GV Extension watch for the e-mails instead of the notifications.

I bought this app tonight as it will finally let me switch to my Google Voice # permanently since it will interface with BiteSMS perfectly. My only problem is after paying the license fee I still can't receive GV text to my iPhone SMS app. Any suggestions?

I already did all the set-up listed here... http://smsgvextension.appspot.com/support/support.html

When someone replies and I try to reply through push notification, the send button is faded out and I have go to app and reply how do I fix this

For anyone with this issue: How is your signal strength? Do you use wifi? This does happen to me occasionally but I can't pinpoint it either. I don't think it ever happened when I used to set GV to forward sms to my TextNow app for the 6+ months I used that. I'm guessing it's Google's push server? Because, GV is getting the sms but we are just not getting the notifications which the extension only intercepts.

I've had the same issues. A quick reinstall of google voice app and I'm back in business. Think the push notification quits working (google voice problem, not SMS GV)

I googled my problem and found this thread.. I Would periodically stop receiving SMS. I was also guessing that maybe I just had to run the Google Voice app periodically to keep getting push notifications.

I found this to be the case too. But I'll try to reinstall the app like the previous poster recommended.

I'm trying and trying to get this to work. I have it set up correctly for sending - my texts are going through. But when I recieve texts, they are showing as coming from several (504) 30X-XXXX numbers, and not from my contact. Then the message comes through as "John Doe - <message here>" (obviously with my contacts name instead of John Doe)

What gives?

I have the official app installed, ON checked through receiving settings.

After enjoying this for about 6 months, I finally realized that as awesome as this tweak is, the Google Voice App was an unreliable piece of junk. I missed my texts sometimes, and some of them were important, and it just wasn't working for me. So I decided to get the $10 messaging plan that AT&T was offering. I'm not entirely happy that I'm paying $10 a month to text, but at least it's reliable.

The Google Voice push servers definitely seem to be unreliable at times. When I used email forwarding (to textnow not GV extension) I rarely ever missed a text. Have you tried using the local mail function instead? I may give it a try.

Been using the GV extensions now for many months, never had any trouble. No missing texts, everything works very well. My only wish is that Apple would integrate GV the way Android does but we know that just isn't gonna happen.

Been using the mail forwarding notification method instead of the gv mobile app for the last 3 weeks. Haven't missed a single text. I would definitely give it a try if you are have troubles.

Couple useful additions: go to the FAQ to see how to automatically mark the emails as read. I also have it set to automatically move to a folder I labeled gv SMS. Mail forwarding is definitely more reliable than push notifications from google. I used it for 6+ months to use gv SMS in textnow and didn't have any trouble until I switched to gv sms extension. So far so good.

thanks i got it all set up

i did a few test

removed all apps from the background, did a respring then send myself a text & it worked

another test

removed all apps from background, now this time reboot ,then send myself a text and got the message ok

email is the way to go people for push notifications

doing the same test using the official google app notification system does not work if you reboot or respring you wont get push messages unless you reopen the app

i recommend everybody to dump the google app and use email for push

cause being jailbroken you respring and reboot the phone a lot most of the time , like when installing something from cydia, and you have to remember to reopen the Google app

with push email you dont need to do anything , it just works
