No app deserves a free ride to use Apple’s servers and APIs to sell their own products while giving Apple 0.0%. Imagine if Best Buy had to stock empty boxes that referred you to buy their products on Amazon? And Amazon didn’t pay a cent for the privilege?
Exactamundo. Epic is having a corporate temper tantrum. I don't think they can survive without the App Store and yet, they expect Apple did allow them to fully benefit without adhering to the terms they agreed to.

This person truly does not know what he’s on about. He’s behaving like a sell-out, wide-eyed fanboy amazed at all the advancements.

It is unreal to read what he’s written. IN LIEU OF software and HARDWARE enhancements? So now iOS and iPhone and iPads are selling at subsidised prices thanks to the 30% ? Beyond bewildering. Never used Snapchat, never will.

As a member said: kiss-ass is all this is. A way to get cozy and comfy and hope to get some prime time on the platform, that’s it.
Basically someone who likes the platform is a kiss-ass? Maybe other software devs should be kiss ass as well.

Right. These trolls are exhausting

Apple doesn’t deserve 30% of every sale in app after the initial purchase. You buy a computer from Best Buy, does BB deserve a cut of everything you purchase using that computer? Nope

If a company doesn't agree with the terms of the App Store, don't sign on the dotted line noting that you agree to abide by all terms therein.

Comparing apples and oranges. They can take their butt over to Google Play Store if they don't like it. Bottom line, Apple created a platform and gathered millions of customer on its own. They now share that platform with everyone so they everyone can make a profit and get recognized. Apple is charging industry standard pricing on top of that. Epic and Microsoft are just greedy and want to manipulate things into their favor. Sorry Epic employee, not gonna win this one.

Then by the same logic, I assume you intend backpaying Microsoft 30% of every Windows app / upgrade you've ever purchased?

After all, the bottom line is, Apple Microsoft created a platform and gathered millions of customer on its own. They now share that platform with everyone so they everyone can make a profit and get recognized.

Epic is winning this one. And next for Apple will be the EU.

Dont worry. It’s ending soon.
I wouldn't get my hopes up on the "ending" part of the "soon" part. My guess, if Apple gets a judgement they don't like it will be appealed. But until the judge rules, there is no verdict to be had...and then the fun starts.

I don't know why there is a belief Apple will be "cut down to size" with the app store. It's been in existence like this for a bit of time and this if the first legal challenge, done in such a slipshod way, it almost ensures Epic will lose.

And this app represents, I guess, one of Apples' happy customers.

It will end. And then the appeals will start. But this is only the beginning of people looking into Apples shady practices.

So it’s ok for Sony PlayStation and valve? You ducking the question epic employee.
Yes it IS ok. :) My point, which I think you missed, is that folks will twist their logic into knots coming up with why things Apple does is wrong ONLY when Apple does it. If it’s wrong, it’s wrong for everyone. If it’s right, it’s right for everyone.

What shady practices? Apple is not a stupid company and they certainly pay their attorneys enough so that they don't do anything illegal or what would piss off the average consumer...as evidenced by the revenue.

The average consumer is stupid.

Microsoft didn't start out by charging and locking down. They only tried to do that with the FLOP Windows Mobile. Oh by the way, XBOX Game store is doing it now. Can you side load games onto your XBOX? Go ahead, I'll wait.

It's clear to all of us that you have to pull out ridiculous scenarios to try to make a compelling case.

You make the same argument in every post, trying to conflate everything as being the initial sale. What would you call best buys protection plans? or geek squad? All after sale. And of course dlc isn't an 'after sale' if you buy from bestbuy to you, but if you buy dlc on apple products it's somehow different.

Who am I kidding, you mention best buy all the time because it's the store mommy always takes you too isn't it? You still haven't explained the difference between paying best buy 30% for v-bucks and paying apple reddy

Next case Apple is going to lose is excessive lockdown forcing them to allow app side-loading so that companies feuding over profit don't impact consumers' use of their own device. If Apple has an issue with Epic then remove it from the app store but allow side-loading so that customers can download the app directly from Epic and continue to play it like you can do on MacOS. Don't punish and interrupt the customer over Apple's greed.

The Xbox isn't a general computing device. It's a gaming console. That's why I compared iOS to Windows and MacOS. Please try to keep up.
