Obnoxious little change

Obnoxious little change:

In 10.5, highlighting more than 10 items (files or folders) in Finder and then right-clicking and selecting "Get info" used to open JUST ONE pop-up properties window, summarizing all the highlighted items. Now in 10.6, it opens one pop-up properties window for each item. This can result in an awful lot of windows.

I find this rather obnoxious, because about once a day I highlight usually 15-30 files and "lock" them all, and now this will require clicking 45-90 times (once to bring each window into focus, once to check "locked", once to close window) instead of clicking 3 times. Clicking 90 times actually takes so much time that it may be faster to write an AppleScript.

Sometimes it only opened one window. Most times for me I always got multiple windows, so I haven't noticed any difference between 10.5 and 10.6.

As The Spaz pointed out you can use cmd-i or you can right click on the selection of files and press Alt and you will see "Get Info" change to "Show Inspector". Clicking on this will show a summary of all files together.

whats up with the text auto correct?

it only seems to work properly in Text Edit. in Mail you have to set it up with a new message window open and in Safari thru the contextual menu not the Edit menu, also the settings dont stick when Safari is closed.

the feature feels unfinished, i hope an update is released to fix this.

It works in Mail for me in every message without having to set it up every time and it also works in Safari for me every time.

Did you do a clean install?

yeah im saying it does work in Mail, but you have to set it up with a new email message open and in Safari you have to set it up in the contextual menu which is inconsistent with TextEdit and Mail and the settings dont stick when Safari is re-opened.

What I'm saying is… I don't have to set it up each time and I don't have to set it up for each message or each Safari window.

It works always for me. No matter what!

k sorry didnt read the last part of you last post. yes ive done a clean install.

i just think the substitution and auto correct settings in the contextual menu are inconsistently set out in Safari and the settings dont stick after i quit.

so if you set enable everything in Spelling and Grammar and Substitutions it doesnt disable all those settings after relaunching Safari? ive tried trashing the plist.

I just enabled it in one field and it's been fine ever since.

so, i dont know if you guys are having this, but i dont seem to be finding the "put back" feature in Trash....
I ctrl-click the file, nothing...
help?

Apparently, right now it looks like it only shows up if a file was put there through Finder. Meaning if another application moved something to the trash, or if you dragged it there from a stack, it won't work. Hopefully that gets fixed with an OS update.

^^ thanks for the quick reply!
yes, I think it'll be fixed (hopefully)

I found out this today, and I was really happy they finally made it happen !! :D

you can now actually Quick Look ''.webarchive'' files!!!!! Finally! it was so frustrating in Leopard that you couldn't do that! :D

Quick Look

When you watch a movie in Quick Look, you can no longer scrub by scrolling, or drag a screen from the window, --p dislike lol.

o wow, thats retarded. just tried it

I don't know if this is a Snow Leopard feature or iTunes 9 feature or both, but you can now drag songs directly from iTunes to iChat to send music to your buddies. Just drag any track or group of tracks to someone's name on your buddy list. Cool!!!

I know this is new because it used to anoy me when I'd try to do it by instinct and I'd forget that it didn't work. Haha. It's always been something that I thought should just work.

That's cool, I always found it annoying having to drag a song first onto the desktop, and then into the chat window.

Power Point Freezes

Running Microsoft 2004 - Power Point freezes on Snow Leopard. Word and Excell - no problem.

Any suggestions

Here are several questions I have:

1. How long does installation take?
2. Are there as many bugs as people are claiming?
3. Is there a noticeable difference in speed and overall performance?
4. Is it possible to do a clean install?
5. Has anyone installed it and just went back to their previous OSX?
