My copy finally arrived today, was only posted on the 26th, though they were on strike either just before or after the bank holiday round here.
Royal Mail on Sunday  Yep, I was surprised too!

The sender is responsible for shipping things in a way that will meet the expectations of its customers.

You choose to have free, untracked delivery from RM, who although say 2 business days for delivery via second class, leave it for 14 days before declaring the item lost and beginning proceedings to compensate the sender, who will send it again. When I spoke to Apple, they said delivery could take 1 - 16 days!

Using your logic, Apple could have strapped the discs to carrier pigeons and then be absolved of all responsibility for their delivery.

Yep. Then when the pigeon doesn't turn up, you phone Apple, who send it again, and at the same time will seek compensation from the courier company for using an un-trained pigeon and losing your item. Although Apple will sort it out, they are not ultimately responsible for someone else messing up. If it were a Genius delivering the items, then fair enough, but it's not.

They CHOSE to use a poor method of delivery, so they should expect to suffer the wrath of their customers.

Nope. YOU picked a poor delivery method out of the ones available to you. If you wanted it in a timely guaranteed manner then you should have chosen a courier company that allowed for tracking. However, like most people, you thought "Why would I spend more money on delivery than I am spending on the actual product?" which is fair enouugh, but at times like this I like to think of the saying "You get what you pay for"

Plus there was the RM strikes which wouldn't have helped.

My UTD isn't here either yet ordered June 8th the day I bought my Mac. I was not too fussed when it never arrived launch day as I went to Geneva the day after anyway. I had 40 leftover Francs so bought a French boxed copy from the Apple store there this morning before I left and I am so glad as I couldn't believe it still hasn't arrived when I just got home. I'd get my £6.95 back for this UTD but I don't think you can.

you'll never guess what...........its still NOT here, good work apple/royal mail, shipped on the 27th and STILL not here, its a new record for me in terms of slowness of stuff coming from anywhere ive ordered off the net.

I received my family pack today via UPS - it's the one Apple resent. Installed new drive in the macbook pro, clean installed Snow Leopard and restored my latest TM backup.

No issues to report so far, I love the speed and the new dock/exposé features - very happy! Shame Apple had to send it twice before I got it!

Royal Mail is screwed at the moment. I posted something Special Delivery Next Day last week. That's guaranteed next day delivery. It took them 4 days to deliver it  I'll be claiming compensation...

My God......yet another who won't have a word said against Apple.

I paid £7.95 for UTD. Confirmed by Apple today that the £7.95 was for postage. £7.95 for a jiffy bag and a SECOND CLASS stamp. Give me a break....who screwed who here.

OH MY GOD< HE SAID A BAD THING ABOUT APPLE! BURN HIM!!!!!

No not at all. I would have no problem blaiming Apple if I thought this was their fault, but I don't.

BUT IMO I do think they chose the wrong delivery method, as for £7.95 they could have gone recorded, but they didn't, and I accepted this when I decided to have free delivery.

But as you yourself has stated above, the status is shipped. How can you actually blame Apple for the delay, other than giving you the option of free delivery via a crappy method.

Also, Jiffy bags aren't cheap these days :p

Perhaps you should read up a few posts to drlunanerd's post. 4 days to deliver an item that is guaranteed next day! That is a joke

And burning yourself is a bit extreme, maybe just the naughty step for a few minutes.

Or perhaps instead of coming onto a Internet Forum not affilited with Apple to air you dissatisfaction, you contact Apple and tell them you want another sent out via courier so you can track it and so you can get it in a timely manner...oh wait, you can't as RM wouldn't have declared the package as lost yet!

And the thing that Apple has done wrong for me, was to make it that Mail could only support Exchange integration with Exchange 2007 SP1 Update Rollup 4! This is crap IMO. Exchange 2003 is still widely used and I think they should've provided support for this. Instead I am still having to use Office 2008 (Entourage). Crap Crap Crap

its FINALLY arrive , posted on the 27th, delivered on the 8th, what service. going to install now, wish me luck!

For me this has been the biggest pile of BS in Snow Leopard so far. I don't recall them saying it's only for a specifc version of Exchange; maybe I didn#t look hard enough I don't know. But SP1, roll out 4 is like grrrrrrrrr! We are running 2003 still because it#s been implemented for years, and upgrading isn't a close thought right now. :(:apple:

Honestly, I don't think you'll need it. Leopard to SL was the best OS upgrade I have ever done. Mainly in terms of speed. Just don't do waht I did and move the computer too much when installing. I did and heard the nasty scratching type sound and it failed but still worked. Didn't damage the disk either fortunately

It is on the website, although a little bit buried. I think it's in the docs as well, but lets face it, we don't read those.

We are still on 2003 as well. I was hoping it would just sorta work even if not supported, but it didn't. It's really annoying. I wanted to get rid of Entourage

Ok fair comment, but I did contact Apple. See for yourself.....Complete waste of time.

I wish to register a complaint regarding the online Apple store.

On 6th August I ordered OS X Snow Leopard up to date (order ref
W********) For this you charged me £7.95 for 'post and packing'

Yet today, on launch day of Snow Leopard, you failed to deliver my up
to date disc. Do you think it is reasonable to charge me £7.95 for
postage and packing, and just post the disc in the regular mail?

Would you, as an Apple customer, be happy with this service? I think
not. I'm bitterly disappointed regarding your poor service. I really
did expect better from Apple.

I'm not the only one in this situation, with another member of my
family in the same situation.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable in demanding an explanation for
this exceptionally poor service. Perhaps you could explain the break
down of the £7.95 you charged me for 'post and packing', after all,
you have my money and I don't have anything to show for it.

Regards

That reply is TERRIBLE!

They've practically shot themselves in the foot by saying that the £7.95 is for shipping, given that second class post is WAY cheaper than £7.95.

That reply is crap. I do dispise generic response's. It's obviously out of a book!

Don't think customer services were having a good day!

Although bad days do affect people, if they work in a customer services role they should be used to it and be able to deal with it!

I'd get on the blower if I were you and calmly but forcefully explain the situation to no-one less then a manger....

Shocking, yet unfortunately not entirely unexpected
