Whenever I click on one of the "top sites" icons/preview-windows in Safari the graphics transition when it brings up the page doesn't work anymore... in 10.5 the preview image would simply grow bigger till it filled the window, then the web page would load on top of it... now I get these random vertical lines that pop up. They disappear when the web page loads, but still... seems kinda glitchy...

The other major bug I've noticed is that AVI movies I've taken with my little camera refuse to open from iPhoto. Double clicking does nothing. They open from finder just fine, but not from iPhoto.

Anyone else experiencing the same???

My Safari animations are funky too, just like you describe. Can't believe this made it into the final build :(

You Guys/Gals are lucky!

I received my CD today via the Apple On-line store. My machine refuses to recognize the CD and just ejects it after a few seconds. Looks like Apple is going to make me wait for them to re-ship a replacement because I bought it on-line and the Apple stores aren't "set-up" to deal with replacements for on-line purchases.

At least you people have a Snow Leopard to not work!
:(

Hey! A spot of optimism here... at least I have 2 new Apple Logo decals to play with while I wait my next delivery! Things are looking up already!

Has anyone else noticed that SL runs a lot hotter?

Yeah, I've noticed this right away.
I'm normally sitting on my bed with my macbook when I use it, with it sitting on my lap. Before when I would watch videos on YouTube for example I never had any heat problems.

But man, now with SL after 2 videos my macbook gets so freekin hot!!!! My CPU temp gets up to like 85 degrees C and my fans are screamin. I can't even have the macbook on my lap as I would probably get burnt bad. I noticed it when my leg started burning. Man that hurt. Activity monitor shows the Flash plugin for Safari taking up like 95% of the computing power. I don't know what it was pre-SL as I never had any heat problems. Hell, my macbook would barely get warm.

If this is how SL is going to be I wish I hadn't upgraded. I really like having it on my lap when I use it.:(

1. My home town doesn't work in the weather widget anymore.
2. Disk eject is a bit flakey.
I found that usually just retyping you zip code fixes that. At least that's what I did in 10.5.

This problem happened to me with 10.5 except it was a system command that would take up 96% of both CPUs. I had to wait until 10.5.3 for the issue to be resolved.

This is bad news, I can't have this crap happening again, I lost thousands of dollars to down time when it happened in 10.5.

For those having issues or not... did you do a clean install or an upgrade install?

edit: post how you did your upgrade and if you're having issues with SL or just apps.

Thanks!

FrostWire quit working for me and so did Tor Button in Firefox.

Any one else have problems with tor button?

Welcome in the club!

Maybe it's even better so. Reading here the forums it seems that there are more issues than with Leopard... Probably I'll wait with the install (even if I can get a working DVD).

1. I don't want to miss Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Fireworks graphic application. It's not listed in any SL compatibility list...

2. I've set up a wireless calendar (OS X application/iPhone calendar) sync via Google calendar in the cloud (a bit complicated but it works) and don't want to miss it too.

In another thread, it was mentioned that the Snow Leopard disk doesn't have the most recent version of the Flash plugin. Have you updated to the latest since installing SL?

Just an update. When I use FireFox instead of Safari (viewing videos) my Macbook gets no where near as hot. Seems to work ok. So something is up with Safari. Maybe my flash plugin doesn't play nice now or something. Guess until a fix comes out most my browsing will be done on Firefox which sucks a$$, I really like Safari:(

I haven't tried any other things or apps yet to see if I have any other heat issues

Yes, I tried reinstalling the flash plugin right before my last post about my test using Firefox. Got the link right from the download section on Apple's website. Flash version 10.0.32.18.

Firefox is happy with no heat issues when viewing videos. Safari turns on the computers oven to high, no actually very very very very very high.:p

Wtf?

The biggest problem I'm having is with Apple's own software. Nearly every application except iTunes has crashed. Safari, QT, Mail, Logic ... it's like some sort of bad joke. NeoOffice crashed. Ironically, Fusion has worked perfectly -- and it wasn't supposed to. Did Apple actually test this OS or has it all been a smoke screen? It's not like I've installed SL on an old machine; I've got a brand new MacPro.

Another interesting thing I've discovered: when I would find a site with an interesting piece of Flash animation, I used to simply click "Save As" and save the SWF file. Now Safari won't let me do that.

Thanks, Apple.

Edit: Now I know why they charged only $29.

How did you even get NeoOffice to run so it could crash. I can't even get it to open and I even have Roesetta installed. I had to install that to get my Quicken 2007 to run.

Man am I regretting this upgrade to SL. I figured, hey it's Apple. It just works...

I've started having SLEEP issues with my MB unibody.
Anybody else having this? So far it seems like i'm the only one... :(
Never had these problems on Leopard!

Ignorance is bliss?

I'd advise everyone to not read about bugs! By reading the bugs that people point out, you'll be consciously aware of them and they'll bug you. However, if you do not read about bugs, you'll probably go about your happy business and enjoy Snow Leopard and you *most likely* run into problems.

Terrible advice.

Anyone else having issues when running 'softwareupdate -l' from the command line and receiving a bunch of errors about Office .pkg files missing package receipts? Never had this issue Leopard.

Software Update in SL

I run Software Update from the Apple menu and now it wants an Admin name and p/w to run. If I hit cancel a few times, the box for the Admin info goes away and SU runs. Just the little Update box shows, and when the progress bar is finished, then the larger box with available updates shows up.
This is not how it worked in Leopard. Maybe I'll get used to it.

Toast 10

Disc Cover 2 RE is not working! And i use this App to create my cd layout and print them directly on cds. People pay me to do this for weddings and birthday as favor, I'm stuck. I have 3 jobs to be done soon. I try to open files that I've created before SL upgrade, they open but they are no longer transparent, all have black background. is it possible to use my carbon copy cloned external drive to go back when i didn't have Snow leopard? So that i can finish these jobs and then figure out what to do next? and also is there a software that can do what this software can do or more, and also compatible with SL?
thanks Guys...

I am having issues with quick look. I have a folder with about 7GB of pictures with a mix of jpegs and tiffs. A lot of them show the icon for tiff and if you invoke quick look on one of those files it will take about a minute for it to show up or it will crash finder and I have to relaunch finder. Also on those files if I try to open it in preview it will do the same thing. I did a clean install.
