I have a strange issue:

Whenever I boot into windows (boot camp) and then coming back to OSX, the 3 and 4 finger swipes will stop working.

The only way to make it work again is to go to preferences, uncheck the 4 finger swipe, and then reboot (without the reboot it won't work). Then after reboot, check the box again and it will work again...

... until the next time I boot into windows. Then I have to do the whole thing over again.

I booted from the upgrade ($29) DVD and did the default upgrade. The upgrade was done without a hitch and my machine is running nice and smooth. All my applications, including NeoOffice Patch Level 7 and iStat Menus, are working just fine. No crashes and no issues.

Well I have to say, mine is running much slower than Leopard did. I did the upgrade on a mac mini 2009. However with Leopard that machine felt fast and speedy. I am running no strange hacks, just a few programs.

Programs take MUCH longer to load, Finder hardly feels "snappier" and running expose and spaces is a nightmare of 1-2 FPS animation. This whole thing feels quite bad, and I would say this is embarrassing work from Apple. There is no reason for it to have this many BASIC problems. I mean bad animation? Come on...

By the way, the new Expose sizing is terrible. The fact it can turn apps into the same size as chat windows is completely unhelpful and ludicrous. Seeing it in action makes that quite clear.

i cant get it to connect to the internet on snow leopard if I log into windows on bootcamp i can connect to the internet but in snow leopard I cant get it to connect, it worked before I upgraded.

is it possible to use my carbon copy cloned external drive to go back when i didn't have Snow leopard? So that i can finish these jobs and then figure out what to do next?
Sure you can - that's why you made the clone image.

And what the heck were you thinking... upgrading your OS with client obligations on your plate?

I'm loving Snow Leopard for the most part, but it did break one fix that I had which is now broken again ...

I have the late 2008 Unibody Macbook Pro with the 320GB 7200 rpm "clicking" hard drive issue (the constantly parking and unparking issue; the firmware update that came out a couple of months ago was for the 2009 500GB "click-beep" issue only) my fix was using the "/usr/local/bin/hdapm disk0 max" thing but now this doesn't work and the constant clicking is back! Very annoying and a little worrying...

Lightsoft Weather Center does not work. Do not upgrade if you are using this weather software.
Phone Valet must be upgraded to 6.02

anyone run into issues where 'Network Utility' is displaying wrong information for the different interfaces?

my Airport interface information is showing up under fw0, and nothing is showing up on Airport en1 except: link speed: 0Mbit/s, link status: Inactive, Vendor NVIDIA, Model: MCP79-1

I am having mail crash on me mid message i am typing when i attach a document. this on a fresh clean install of sl 6.0 10a432. I get it consistant i think i have found a bug in mail with mulpitple email accounts from gmail. I have a custom domain mail managed through gmail and it locks up when i try to send from that smtp server even though it is just smtp.gmail.com. I have even cleared and re-set the plsit of the app to be sure it was not corrupt. I might want to phone this bug in.

AdBlock for Safari 4 doesn't seem to work in 64-bit mode, works fine in 32-bit though.

Also, I can't use CTRL & Option for copying in the Finder- it acts as thought I've CMD & clicked something.

Also, if I use Spotlight to open Textedit then it works, but Spotlight lists the App in foreign :p

So I have a new macbook pro...

I'm supposed to get my UTD disk either tomorrow or on Monday and after reading this thread I'm kinda apprehensive about updating until 10.6.1 comes out. I really don't want my macbook to overheat like some of you said was happening. What do you guys think I should do?

I found that usually just retyping you zip code fixes that. At least that's what I did in 10.5.

Our post codes here in Aus don't work with the widget but amazingly it's just popped up. Quite violently too, like BANG! and there it was.

I'm with you... It will be really hard, but I am going to try to hold out until 10.6.1. But I'll admit, I'm weak... very weak.

Has anyone else noticed that SL runs a lot hotter?

I've noticed a jump in temperature with SL. My comp is constantly around 60 degress C. with calendar, mail, adium running.

I have the 1st gen unibody mbp and I've noticed the temperature rises with every update for the leopard and now SL

Cant upload to youtube using safari/firefox/itunes or quicktime!
Candybar will not change most icons. i.e safari, quicktime, itunes, idvd, app folders and so on. it did change finder and dashboard.

As far as fonts, seems if you are upgrading, you'll run into some issues especially if you have multiples and old fonts still around.

If you get a warning about fonts interfering due to them having the same name as system fonts ... definitely hit the move to trash button.

Don't worry about it later.

Otherwise, these fonts will crash some windows ... mine crashed the securityagent window which meant I couldn't type in my admin password to do anything requiring a password.

Pain to figure out what went wrong, or simply move the duplicate fonts with like Monaco.dfont to the trash.

So far I'm not too impressed. On my new MacPro, the OS and application speeds seem about the same as 10.5. Safari and QT 10 crashed upon launch. They seem to be working fine after that. The new QT is not QT Pro; there are very few export options. The trim feature is better than the old QT Pro version, though. QT's new black frame currently looks out-of-place since all the other windows frames are grey.

The CanoScan Toolbox for the Canon LIDE scanners no longer works. Neither does X Marks.

I have been able to use my LIDE100 w/o any problems. XMarks is also working for me in both safari and FF.

I did the upgrade option, and well I am having a few applications that will not run right. The one I am concerned about is flip4mac. It says I need to install it but it is already installed. I bought that one and not the free version.

Anyone else having problems with Flip4Mac?
Other programs are 1Password3 is having a bit of trouble too.

Despite being listed as "OK" on the compatibility list at wikidot, InsomniaX is broken. The insomnia feature will load very rarely, if at all, and when it does, it's nearly impossible to unload. I had to delete at the terminal level and reinstall twice before I could get my MBP (early '08) to be able to sleep.

Whenever I click on one of the "top sites" icons/preview-windows in Safari the graphics transition when it brings up the page doesn't work anymore... in 10.5 the preview image would simply grow bigger till it filled the window, then the web page would load on top of it... now I get these random vertical lines that pop up. They disappear when the web page loads, but still... seems kinda glitchy...

The other major bug I've noticed is that AVI movies I've taken with my little camera refuse to open from iPhoto. Double clicking does nothing. They open from finder just fine, but not from iPhoto.

Anyone else experiencing the same???

**I did not do a clean install, just followed the "upgrade" instructions.

Same issue here. I did do a clean install and the problem is still there.

Lock Icon Not Unlocking

In System Preferences and in Sharing & Permissions (under Get Info), when clicking on the little lock icon to make changes, it either does nothing or opens and then closes. It never gets to the point of requesting authentication.

While the OS is blazing fast (most apps bounce once in the dock before being fully functional), I've noticed quirks that makes you wonder how they made it into the final build.

I'm looking forward to 1.6.0.1 which can't be more than a week away at the rate that bugs are being found.

Safari Issue

Having installed Snow Leopard I'm now experiencing a page loading distortion with a regular site I visit. My previous experience with this site was fine with no problems.

Any ideas anyone of what I can do?

just posted this elsewhere. on my 1st gen uMBP when using the 4 finger gesture to show all windows or move windows off screen when trying to use the gesture to bring the windows back, randomly they spring off screen again, the only way then to bring it back is to click on the windows that are off screen. This is random and intermittent.

That's not a bug. I've noticed that if you keep your 4 fingers on the trackpad after using the gesture, that will happen. If you push up with 4 fingers and let go of the trackpad right after and swipe back down with 4 fingers, it won't happen.

It's not a glitch or a bug. It's the way it works has been modified.
