I posted a thread about this but I will share here in the "issues" thread as well.

I use two monitors: an Apple Cinema display and a Dell, which is display number 2. I installed SL and it was normal until I rebooted the first time. Now every time I boot up, the only display that is found is the Dell and I have to go into preferences and select "detect displays" to make the main one show up. It loads as if the Dell is the only display, and since it is smaller it messes up my desktop, lumping all my icons on top of each other. When I click "detect displays," it moves everything back to the Apple monitor, making it the main display as it should be, but it is all out of whack.

Snow Leopard should be called VISTA ll

I am so sorry I did this upgrade. Both my computers, macbook unibody and macbook pro, last generation prior to uni body are now very slow, internet connection, the very same one I had yesterday is slow and unresponsive, Safari is now slow in every aspect. Track pad unresponsive....it is seemingly endless.

Very very disappointed with what appears to be a rushed roll out and I am sure they are in for a load of problems. This version will come to be known as the Vista version.

Did Apple learn nothing from Microsoft and their nightmare OS?

Thanks Apple, for nothing!

Did you try an erase-and-install?

Ummm... wow.

Maybe you should look at the poll in which the overwhelming majority of people have reported positive things about the OS.

If things are so bad then re load your Leopard disc and restore off of your last time machine backup.

Geez. You sure you don't work for Microsoft?

I am surprised to see this bug.

In 32-bit mode of System Preferences, the remove PrefPane option is much smaller than in 64-bit mode.

Chalk another one up for annoying 4-finger up/down. And exposé just doesn't seem as snappy anymore...

how com safari still doesn't have 3-finger scroll for top/bottom like firefox??

I used to have that enabled for Safari through MultiClutch, but it seems to be broken in SL :(

Oh and...

3) Every time I try and go into the Connect360, DivX, Flip4Mac WMV, Perian and the Wacom Tablet preference panels System Preferences needs to restart. Not a huge problem, still annoying.

Just do update man. I do not know about Connect360 cos dont use it but all the others apart from Divx work at 64 bit for me

Since upgrading, my iPod refuses to "eject" from iTunes, saying it's in use by another program. Multiple attempts (2-10 so far) are required, but at some point it will finally unmount.

My admittedly-old version of Azureus stopped working; would no longer connect to peers. Transmission still works fine.

Path Finder v4.xx would crash on launch. Version 5.xx seems to work just fine, and there appears to be a new release for SL compatibility (I haven't tried the very latest yet).

Other than those, things seem to be working pretty well. Upgrade went easy. There have been a few cases where I think things are a little slow to respond (unsnappier?), but that's just as likely due to heightened attention being paid to detail.

Will Bento 2 work with SL? PS CS3 and some other applications worry me which is why I've not considered SL just yet.

Don't seem to be compatible. I have Bento 1 and it will not open. When I try to open it I get a dialog box saying "Bento quit unexpectedly". It will not open.
I repaired permissions and rebooted. Still no good. I have a late 2007 24" Al iMac, 2.4 GHz.
Anyone else with Bento trouble?

for some ungodly reason, twitter.com nor any twitter apps like tweetie or twitterific will load for me on my macbook pro since installing snow leopard.

I can login fine on my iphone and windows 7 pc on the same network. firewall is off on my mac. I have tried firefox and safari and clearing the cache. It just 'fails to open page' on safari and firefox. Anybody else running into this issue?

If your mouse hovers over a window mid transition of expose the new blue box, that forms a border around the window, will appear in the final destination of the window before the window has arrived. See attached screenshot.

edit: smaller image.

Time Machine says I have to backup 80GB (everything I have), why? I did upgrade in Friday and it only backed up like 9GB and I did clean install yesterday and now it's 80GB! It would take ages to complete -.-

EDIT: It's also very slow. It just hangs in somewhere for minutes and the continues.

Yeah - this is bugging the heck out of me. I've downloaded replacement graphics for that disgusting blue gradient from MacTHEMES, which eases the pain a little.

Base memory usage doubles

I posted this thought on another thread a couple of days ago but forgot where. I noticed using iStat that after a clean boot, SL used twice the memory of a clean Leopard boot after everything settles down. So all these nice tweaks come at a price. I did get back 5GB of disk space but wonder if I'd rather have the memory. By the way, wasn't one of the benefits supposed to be faster and leaner? Yes, but leaner disk space swapped for more memory. Hope the memory mgt is good when I fire up 15 apps. We'll see.
Example, you can view running video thumbnails. That's where part of the memory went. etc.
I haven't decided it's bad yet. Just an observation. Any feedback?

iphoto 08

dont check for updates to iphoto 08 or it'll open a blank dialog box. Pushing the unselected button opens some portion of network preferences! I just thought that was funny.

My Exchange email account worked at set up but a few hours later stopped working, even when I connect via VPN. Webmail still works though, so our email server isnt down. Maybe it's a work thing, probably...

That poll?

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/775726/

Works perfectly (or nearly so) == 58 % = overwhelming?!

I switched two years ago and never read so many error reports at a OS X update like SL... Just my subjective impression.

The other thing to keep in mind is that it's only been a few days since the majority of people have been able to try out SL. It can take a lot longer than that to uncover problems. Everything found already is probably just low-hanging fruit.

Whenever I go to delete something it automatically deletes them without the files appearing in the trash. Was working fine yesterday..

Anyone having Iphone and Itunes issues?

Since the upgrade it doesn't quite work properly... It syncs most stuff but then just sits and syncs indefinitely and never finishes. I've uninstalled itunes and the mobile device kext and reinstalled but no joy.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Actually comparing Snow Leopard to Vista would be a compliment to Apple. Currently, I use my Mac maybe 60%, Vista 48% and Linux 2% of the time I am working. There is much to appreciate in my Mac but so many applications crash with a complete loss of data (two of the worst offenders are Safari and MacSpeech Dictate). Apps crash on my Vista machine but I don't lose data and the crash rate is far less then I now see on my Apple.

Contrary to Apple propaganda, I find the matured Vista is more stable than Leopard. It will be interesting to see if Apple gets the traditional free ride from the press on Snow Leopard issues. As always will wait 4 - 6 months to take the bait and hope MacSpeech gets its act together and Apple fixes Safari.
