Snow Leopard issues

Now sometimes when I do the 4 finger forward swipe to get all the windows off my desktop, it looks like they are going of but then at the last second it turns into normal expose.
 
Hi Guys,

Having font problems viewing certain websites eg www.digitalspy.co.uk

The font used on the site's style sheet is 'Verdana' and this is one that I'm having problems with in Fontbook. I tried 'resolving duplicates' but that doesn't work. Tried deleting the duplicated and that didn't work either.

Verdana isn't the only font I have duplicates of. I have duped of Andale, Arial, Arial Narrow, Arial Rounded, Brush Script ST and so on...

Any ideas how to fix the problem?

As mentioned before, some of us got defective install DVDs!

Okay I did it, made the journey to the dealer (three hours, ~€40) once more for a change. They tested my brought-in DVD on a Mac Mini and acknowledged that it's broken. Although it's SOLD OUT (!!) they've found another SL DVD and I've got it. Now the unbelievable part of my story:

It doesn't work as well!​

Trust me, I am rather p***** *ff with that garbage...
 
OK, I've found a fix after about an hour of messing around.

If you go Finder -> Applications -> Fontbook. Select all the font in the list and then click Edit -> Resolve Duplicates, this will then disable all the duplicate fonts.

Afterwards, you'll see that there's no difference, but a quick restart later and it's all fixed. That's what worked for me anyway!

Update: Lightsoft has a fix on their website. Have to dl a driver from Davis
Phone Valet is broken. Cannot open the database. Argh.

yeah!!! My NeoOffice now works. I had version 3.0 but I didn't have patch 7 installed. Now that I have that patch installed my NeoOffice actually starts and runs. :D

Yup, that's exactly what's happening to me too. Kinda disconcerting, actually.
 
Also, the menu shown by clicking and holding an icon in the Dock is now inconsistent with right-clicking.

Either they should implement those additional menu items from right clicking back to clicking and holding or make right-clicking works exactly the same as clicking and holding.

Others have reported that the process that seems to be causing the cpu to spike up (resulting in higher temperatures) is Safari 4.

You’re right, mine’s back after logging in and out.

In other news, it’s the return of the return of logging in to find “Recovered files” in the Trash!

Brand new issue that I haven't seen reported yet. I'm no longer able to change wallpaper. When I click on a thumbnail, the thumbnail is selected, and remembered when I open up the preferences pane again, but my actual desktop background doesn't change. I'm sure it'll be fixed on a restart, but weird.
 
my wimax isn't working yet, but clear takes forever for mac support, so that's not surprising. the checkbox for ignoring the touchpad when a mouse is present is gone. otherwise, i'm happy so far.
 
Should i reinstall sl because when i go to the upload page on youtube int stuck on loading all the time.?
 
Bento and SL

Don't seem to be compatible. I have Bento 1 and it will not open. When I try to open it I get a dialog box saying "Bento quit unexpectedly". It will not open.
I repaired permissions and rebooted. Still no good. I have a late 2007 24" Al iMac, 2.4 GHz.
Anyone else with Bento trouble?
 
Another happy camper here! I just did a simple upgrade on my 9 month old UMB and she's running beautifully (Knock on wood). No problems at all. This is the first time I've NOT done an erase & install, and I was very surprised at how well it went.
 
I copied a couple of movies that I ripped over to my time capsule and it would not let me play them. It said they were being used by Mac OSX. I ejected the time capsule and reconnected and they play but it's still strange
 
Loving SL, but having one problem with it so far. When I open a folder for the first time since installing SL the files in it are all over the place, and I have to right-click and "Arrange By" in everyone to get the files organised again. Is there a way to do this so I don't have to go in to every folder on my computer to arrange the files ?
 
In Yahoo Games forums, the fonts are almost unreadable

i play on-line Hearts in Yahoo and the fonts in Safari now SUCK. Very difficult to read. Almost like it is BOLD COURIER. U-G-L-Y.....this was a big change over 10.5.8. True in both Safari and Firefox.

Your getting Logic crashes, that's no good. The only reason I was going to install 10.6. If I am ask what version on Logic are you using?

Didn't work for me, though I did remember that the windows came up one first run ... and Leopard had font issues also.

Never corrected them then, just turned em off. Which could have been the problem.

Normally when you see a message about trashing fonts, you think I'll turn them off with Font Book later.

What a mistake, though it did end up font book and the OS finally respawning the error windows to correct the problems.
