I'll be buying 10.6 soon after it comes out. I did have minor graphics glitches with buying 10.5 on my mid-2007 iMac when it came out.

I was there on Day 1 of Leopard and was mildly disappointed. I will probably wait until 10.6.2 this time.

yeah my disapointment with leopard was the lack of the isight things they took of and the quick bootcamp switching that was talked about in WWDC that year.

Hopefully someone downloaded the videos cause they are no longer available. Host again on Vimeo please

Hmm..."Put Back" is a new feature?

It's been on Windows forever.

I thought Macs were SOO much more advanced.

Awesome, a feature I got in 1995 finally appears on Macs...14 years later.

Don't get me wrong, I know Leopard has some features that Windows doesn't but Windows doesn't claim it's more advanced than any operating system out there.

Does the most advanced operating system have to have all the features of other operating systems?

Obviously you can currently drag stuff out of the trash, otherwise there would be no point to having a trash. "Put Back" simply places it where it was originally deleted from without having to open other windows and drag it back.

A simple upgrade really, but it just makes it that much more convenient.

I have a YouTube channel but I don't want to risk it. I guess I'll do it elsewhere…if I know they won't be pulled.

Are you a .Mac member (or, er, MobileMe)? You could post them on your account (of course, this would possible give others access to your web page and/or MobileMe photo galleries)

Yes, it does. Apple's entire marketing is built around the crash-free, virus-free perfection of Mac OS X. Thus, I would expect that my computer would remain perfect and would never need any kind of updates ever. Thus, the fact that is missing such a simple feature that has been around for more than decade in Windows and Linux is frankly almost inexcusable.

You're making it out to be like its some huge, can't live without it feature. I've been using Windows since 3.11, and I can honestly say that I've never used the "Restore" feature in Recycle Bin.

P.S. Some one correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Mac OS have "put back" back in the OS 9 days? Did they remove it, with a bunch of other things they removed with the introduction of OS X? Or am I just confusing it with the "put away" feature. I just thought I remembered seeing it there, but I haven't used OS 9 since 2000.

Put Back is not a new feature on Mac, neither has it been on Windows first. The first Mac OS up to Mac OS 9 had this feature. Apple is just restoring it or "putting it back" in Snow Leopard.

Looks like Apple legal threw the hammer down. The videos have been pulled.

Sounds like they are making small but useful improvements, i like it :D

I like it too but this isn't going to convince me to spend $129 on a major OS release. I still think they'll have a few big end-user features that will draw us in beyond added contextual menu options and Finder options. The improved Stacks behavior is great but they need to do more to justify a major release.

If Apple thinks Put Back is a cool feature and they put it in their nest OS, this means that they've taken an idea from Windows, which proves that in this case, Windows was more advanced. That's ok. It's just that Apple claim their OS is more advanced, and the Put Back feature they've added proves the opposite. I know there are features that OSX has that Windows doesn't but Windows doesn't claim it's more advanced.

Another Feature

Another cool feature that I noticed in the A286 build was in setup. When I upgraded my 10.5 system, the installer no longer reboots into the standard setup screen. Rather, it opens into the install process in a window and begins the setup routine immediately without the need for a reinstall. After the instal is finished, it reboots once, whereafter you encounter the welcome video and the few remaining questions prior to first boot into the new OS. This shaves a good bit of time off the install process, particularly if you do a clean install to a different disc. Quite nice, actually. I hope it remains in the final version.

As others stated, OS 9 had a put back/restore feature, but was dropped when OS X was released. That feature is not exclusive to Windows.
