In Upstate NY, they are predicting 8-12."

I had an interview scheduled for tomorrow and that has already been rescheduled to Wednesday.

Funny, the wife just texted me about bread and bottled water.

I popped into my local market this morning to pick up one more loaf (just to be safe). The shelves were bare, the place picked over already, and that was 9:30am. I have enough food, but with 2 kids, I was thinking another loaf may have been better - we'll manage though.

Check the freezer section for frozen "home bake" bread. It's basically a loaf of frozen raised bread dough you put in a pan and bake.

Smells great baking when you're snowed in. Unless the utilities are out, then it's just a frozen football.

or lump of dough depending ;)

Subaru all-wheel-drive vehicles have been selling like crazy in the Northeast. They are great in the snow.

More sensible to buy a genny and stay off the roads when a nor'easter heads in. But trying to buy a generator in front of a storm is about the same as showing up at noon to buy bread when the first snowflakes fell at dawn. No dice.

Still I'd love to have a Subaru. One of my bros has one so I cop a ride when I think my ol' clunker can't hack the drifts to somewhere.

I have a late-model Outback, made it through 10" of snow last winter. The thing is a BEAST!

AWD helps you start moving. It doesn't help you stop.

I have a Subaru, I still wouldn't take it out in heavy snow. Plus I don't trust all the other morons on the road who are trying to drive a RWD vehicle with summer tires to not crash into me.

True, ran into that (no pun intended) on Sat. Hot-dogged it a bit in 2" of snow, nearly went into a ditch when I couldn't stop for an intersection but was saved by soft snow on the shoulder, no damage to the vehicle.

Years from now, I can tell everyone how much snow we got and how I had to walk uphill to work both ways :D.

Everyone should also stock up their refrigerators with perishable food for when the electricity goes out for a couple days :).

I'm in North Central Ohio, The Weather Channel predicted 2-6 inches. Pretty sure we got more than 6" but more than that was the wind. Roads drifted shut pretty quick where we are. 1.5 more years of school then this guy is packing up his family and moving south, 34 years of Ohio winter is enough :D

Which if left out can deflate and who knows maybe even give you the upper hand in a friendly game between you and the family! (cough)Patriots(cough)

That's a good idea,

Things are closing left and right around here. The subway will be shut down and not operating tomorrow, my kids afterschool care program is closing early, etc etc.

Has the snow even started falling? It hasn't started here yet, so I'd be surprised if anything closes until the storm starts.

His majesty Chris Krispy took time from his busy campaign schedule to declare a state of emergency in NJ......before he flys out again before the airports close.

That's president Chris Krispy to you :D.

In all fairness, many of the northeast states have declared a state of emergency.

The blizzard hasn't even started yet and it took me 2 hours and 50 minutes to get home from work. All 23 miles. Quite proud I didn't piss myself in the car as I had a large coffee as I left the office.

Water, flour, salt, and yeast. That's all it takes to bake a good loaf of bread. Best of all, no chemicals, no dough conditoners, no Yuk.

That's what the outdoors is for: food storage. It's winter! :)

At least you had a large cup to use if you needed it. :p

This storm is about to kick into gear. Heavy snow bands are about to pivot onshore. Boston looks to be the current sweepstakes winner as far are projected totals go.
