Went just less than 1 year with a 7 Plus, my first Plus-sized phone, and a week ago today sold it to go to an iPhone SE. It wasn't HORRIBLE, but I guess I'd call it inconvenient for me. Doesn't go easily in any pocket, the little one-handed use I had with my 6S was definitely out the door, and I noticed that I dropped it more than any other phone I've had. A little over a week into SE use and I'm absolutely loving it. Feels like home again.

I want a better camera than the 6S I have. I don’t care if I have to roll the 8+ around in a wagon.

I like the screen size with the Plus, but have a hard time with front shirt pockets, like others. I’m worried that bending over, it might fall out. I don’t use the reachability feature as my hands are larger than most. I have gotten used to the slide of the hand slightly to adjust hand position. Overall, it has been a good thing for the older eyes.

I’m looking at the X very seriously with the screen size and the smaller platform. I need to see it and hold it first to be sure that going from my 7+ is a good move though.

Fair enough! I was going to also say, the camera on the 7 Plus was A+ and easily the reason I kept the phone for so long. But, the 12MP camera on my SE works great too - just without the bells and whistles. I'll miss portrait mode.

Yep...

I'm spoiled by the Plus screen. I've got big hands... I can use it one handed which I guess puts me in the minority user base. The smaller screen is too small... and in the case of the X I don't want long and narrow..

I've had a 6s Plus for two years, got a second last year. Still have a 6 that I will trade in for an 8 Plus.
Battery, Screen Size, wins.. And I don't want to relearn the gestures with X.

The X might even be a one and done.

I guess I just got deep pockets. I never had issues putting it in my pants pockets with a case on either at work or at home. At work I keep both my 7Plus and my 6S in my pocket both in magpul cases. I hardly notice it is there. Of course I am usually in my dress khakis for work.

When the 6 Plus first came out, I tested it by putting it in my shirt pocket and thought it was absurdly large. Fast-forward one year and I bought the 7 Plus because of the cameras. Since then, the size never bothered me. The great camera, the stereo sound, and the 1080p screen for movies are all great to have. I've since adapted to typing on it with two hands.

Stone's throw away in price? .... it's $200 or £200 or some other significant amount in other currencies.
Also, if by "the bigger display", you mean the Plus display, then no you don't. You get a taller 6/6s/7 display.

It worries me the number of people in these forums that firmly believe that the X has the 8 Plus screen size. It's taller, but it's also less wide, and (IMO) a worse aspect ratio

Lol. It's a stone's throw away. You're using the device for at least a year if not two, looking at it day in and day out. I don't think I need to explain the day in-day out usage of a smartphone. I will never understand those who balk super hard at the high end iPhone pricing. These devices are insane. 2017 MacBook Pro performance in your pocket, with a persistent internet connection. If you want a budget phone, there are plenty of them in the lineup.

A 256GB iPhone 8 Plus is $949. The iPhone X tops out at $1149 for the same amount of storage. So yes, $200. If you keep your phone for two years, it's 8 dollars per month or something like 20 cents per day on top of, say, an iPhone 8 Plus 256GB. The X is for those who didn't balk at paying $949 for a larger screen, feature-added, better-battery, big storage iPhone in the past.

You get a more pixel dense, larger display than the standard iPhone display. More real estate. It's pretty damn close to great for those who don't like the 6/6s/7 size, and it increases the low-by-any-standard PPI of the 4.7 phone. There's absolutely no way you can discredit the larger display advantage and call it on par with the 4.7 - but you do you and I'll do me. Like I said, I'm hoping they do a Plus-type model filled with display just like they've done here, but I'll absolutely take a smaller, more premium phone with tons of screen surface area over the chinned iPhones all day, every day.

After only one year carrying a Plus, I decided it's too large. Too large for many pockets, too wide for the cup holder in most vehicles, too large for one-handed use, and the 7 anodizing is slippery without a case to add grip (and that makes it even bigger). So waiting for the X is the logical choice, however, I don't want to be waiting into Q1 18 just to get there when my Apple Upgrade was available in Sep 2017. Apple needs to catch-up to Samsung faster than they have been with regards to hardware (they smoke Samsung in software & ecosystem integration).

Currently using the 6S Plus. Planning on getting the X. Excited to never use a phone this large again.

No issues whatsoever. After the iphone 4 I spent a few years experimenting. Nokia n9, various blackberries, galaxy note 4 and still always thought the plus iPhones were absurdly large.

Last year I returned to the fold with the iPhone SE and absolutely loved it. IF that was my only phone I wouldn’t use anything else and wouldn’t know what I was missing. It got lost I walked in to buy a 7 this spring and did a spur of the moment upgrade to the +. Mainly for the camera but I didn’t want buyers remorse by not getting the best.

Now I can’t even think of going smaller. Heck even the X , which I will get , has me concerned because of the narrower width. It’s essentially a taller 7. The plus cameras , screen real estate, battery and larger keyboards are worth every penny. Size wise you simply get used to it. It’s always with me. Dress jeans , suits, beach, a 2 month backpacking trip you name it. I open my laptop now for work everything else is done on the phone.

The SE and even the normal 7 now looks comically small like a little toy phone. I’d say 80% of my phone usage is either reading or typing and the size makes an absolutely positive difference. Go for it. After an initial adjustment period you’ll be just fine. Somehow the note 4 seemed like a huge slab of toast against my face when making calls. The 7 plus curves and overall sleekness don’t make it an issue. Pair it with an Apple Watch and AirPods and you’re in mobile heaven.

I’m looking forward to the X as a shiny new toy but have serious serious misgivings about giving up my matte black 7 plus. Best phone I’ve owned since the original iPhone.
