Don't think I can describe them (male or female), but I'll bet you they get hit on more than average when the gold-diggers see that on their wrist.

I suck at jokes, but I can't suck much more then this thread so I'll give it a go.

An Apple Watch edition walks into a bar, he says to the Sport behind the counter "Do you even sapphire bro?"

lol its better than most of them on here!

kudos.

People are making WAY too much over the cost of the Edition. I helped about 10 clients today as an activity concierge in Kauai. THREE of them had Rolexes worth $9K+. A LOT of people wear expensive watches. I see at least a dozen a week worth the cost of the starter edition watch and I do not even work in the expensive hotels where you would see a lot more of them.

They'll most likely look like someone who doesn't give a **** if they lose it. Why? Well if you can afford to spend that much on a watch, you can afford to buy another one.

For the sake of having any faith in humanity and human nature, I hope no one is inclined to financially stretch themselves to buy the Edition. Who am I kidding!

Are people really that concerned about other people's bank accounts? Maybe it is just from living in a city with the forced proximity to other people but someone else having more then me just doesn't bother me as long as I can live my life the way I want.

For me, I choose to buy the regular apple watch. But really it is just stuff, don't let it bring out your insecurities. There will always be someone with more or less then you.

It will be one of the aftermarket gold plated ounes.

In answer to your original question;

A CHAV wearing burberry all over and rocking a BlackBerry 9220 device.

Ha ha ha , but so true! Let's see if the CHAVs can kill the edition version .

No one notices because, it's covered by the cuff of his sports coat/with a body like that no one's looking at her wrist. Owner of said watch isn't a douche so he/she orders their drink and retires to an area of the bar where his/her friends already have a table.

Give it a rest people.... it's a watch.

Expensive WATCHES, yes. Hell I've bought 9 Rolexes alone in the past 16 months (also 2 Panerais, 2 Tudors, 2 Omegas). But the Edition isn't a watch in the traditional sense. Those Rolexes I've bought still have value years after I bought them, and several appreciate even then. Makes it much easier to buy one when you know you're essentially "parking" your money. Now I know there are people out there that don't factor long term value into their purchases, but the vast majority of buyers of Rolexes and the like DO think about that, even if it's not the number one priority. Just the fact they are buying Rolex, Patek, etc shows that, because the prestige those companies have comes from them being expensive, and holding most of that value (if not appreciating) for years afterward.

On the contrary. It's just a tired argument, and one that reeks of pretentiousness.

Pretentiousness? Lol. In a thread about a solid gold wrist worn mini-iphone? That might be the funniest post in the thread so far! My post was just a counter discussion point to the other post regarding how "common" expensive watches are. It was to illustrate the point of view of one who actually does wear watches that most consider "expensive" (a totally subjective word), and how a buyer from that side thinks. Just because someone who wears watches can buy the Edition, doesn't mean it appeals to them as a watch. That's the point.

I'll explain, but just once.

Expensive WATCHES, yes.
The Apple Watch is a watch. Putting "watches" in all caps in order to imply that it's not is the first thing that is just elitist.

We all care. This statement is irrelevant to your argument, but thanks for letting us know.
But the Edition isn't a watch in the traditional sense.
Yes it is. It's a wrist-worn device that tells time.

This is a tired argument, with no real basis outside of anecdotal support. People will buy the Apple Watch, and people will buy the Edition. Apple has done a lot of market research and hired a ton of people to make sure it sells. If they weren't confident of its selling ability, they would not release it, and they have employees highly knowledgeable of market conditions.

I'm not even going to take the time to shoot down your ill-defended "argument". You're coming from the viewpoint of an Apple supporter on a Apple fan forum, not the real world. Go poll people outside this forum, people who can and do buy watches at the Edition's price point routinely, and see how many are interested. Heck, just look at the "what do your friends think" thread here on MacRumors to get an idea of what MacRumors members are finding out when asking their real life friends and acquaintances regarding who's interested in the Apple watch (hint...very few outside tech forums are interested or see the point). Seems like Apple might need to do a little more market research if a whole thread of APPLE FANS can't find more than a handful of people outside tech geeks who even want the watch. M
And...just curious...if you're so pro Apple watch, why are you even in a thread that is clearly making fun of the solid gold version?

Hyperbole abounds when Edition gets discussed. They'll be everywhere in NYC and So. California. Celebrities, Artists, Athletes, CEO's, Wall Street. Edition will be a hit with the 1%

Sorry to tell you but the top 1% will not buy the Apple Watch Edition because $10,000 - $17,000 is too cheap for them. I see plenty in NYC that's worth more on a daily basis. You must understand that at their level it's a status symbol. Why have a status symbol beneath your level? There will be a crowd for the Apple Watch Edition, but one doesn't have to be super rich to afford it. I would say by Manhattan standards, if you're doing fairly well, that you can definitely afford a $10k watch.

Describe the person wearing it.

Well, he is smartly dressed (as you would expect) and he have a gold rose Apple Watch with midnight blue classic buckle. He patiently waits on a bar to order a glass of JD (his favorite) while the barman is serving another man who just by coincidence have ordered the same drink.

When he have been served, he asks for the price and barman says, your bill is £110! The man says......wait a second.....you just charged the other fella £5.70 for it. The barman with a smile face then explains: Ah, yes sir. You are right. But he is only wearing the sport model. And in case you haven't notice, your drink is on Glencarin Glass and his is just in a cheaper ordinary glass.
