I have gone with white on every single release.

I think I might go Black 64GB this time around if the pictures show it looking hawt.

White looks pretty sick. I've always had black iphones because the the white ones end up looking too girly.

But the 2 tone makes it look more manly ;)

translation = "on the black one, the metal band around the side of the phone will be painted black. On the white one, it will be left metal"

I wonder how well the black one will stand up to scratches. I hope the paint doesn't just come off easily.

Anodizing is not the same as painting. That said though, although my first instinct is that I like the black, I'm still concerned that if the Anodizing gets scratched, the silver will show through and it will look awful.

"Anodized finish" is not the same as painted.

Thank you.

I know this.

The translation was for those who obviously did NOT understand what anodizing was.

as pointed out by the superior gods... anodizing is not the same as painting. It should hold up better than paint.

With that said, I think a decent enough drop and whack against something sharp could lead to some wear.

Why would you tell someone who didn't understand it something completely wrong?

Totally. And now just appears To be digging an even bigger hole for himself.

Anyway......having established that the black phone is not "painted" let's move on.....

Why would you tell someone who didn't understand it something completely wrong?

because I'm not a goddamn dictionary.

If they want a true and accurate definition, look it up. If you want a "dumbed down" layman definition, ask people on the internet.

and if you're so concerned, why don't you add a link to wikipedia or something instead of just sittnig back and being critical?

----------

... also worth noting... I was not attempting to define anodizing... I was attempting to explain what the visual difference will be between the black and white.

I suppose the appropriate answer would have been "yes"

----------

They said the white has raw aluminum and black has anodized finish. What does that mean? Is the black one just processed more since aluminum isn't naturally black?

yes

Somebody answer this

done.

I agree because a dictionary is actually correct. I'm so "concerned" because you're leading people to think that the paint will chip off of the metal when it's completely not the case. Relax man, it's only the internet.

Right. You know the internet is huge. If you're going on a crusade to rectify every piece of incorrect information on the web, you best get started. What are you doing wasting time reading MY post?

Relax man, it's only the internet.

Can I go ahead and point out the irony here?

On one hand, you reprimand for posting something "wrong" on the internet.

A few posts later, you've done a complete 180 and now it's "relax, it's just the internet".

lol.

Except you gave the wrong "dumbed down" layman definition. If you don't know the answer then don't answer it. Otherwise, be a man and stand yourself corrected.

After getting a good look at the back of it on the Apple site, I am going with the black one.

Yup, photos are up on Apple.com now. Both colors look really good this year, tough call.

I was not attempting to define anodizing. ANYONE can do that with 4 words typed into a google search box. I was attempting to explain what the visual difference between the annodized black phone outer band will look like (and I likened it to a painted surface) versus what the white one will look like (bare metal).

I'll admit when I'm wrong, no doubt.

I said this:

translation = "on the black one, the metal band around the side of the phone will be painted black. On the white one, it will be left metal"

I suppose I could have said -- had I been trying to define anodizing:

translation = "on the black one, the metal band around the side of the phone will be processed using electrolytic passivation to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surfaceof the part. This will be black. On the white one, it will be left metal"

I can go back and edit my post if it will make you feel better about it.

How would a crystal clear screen protector look on the back of the iphone 5 black

Clear or not good

I'm guessing with the portion of the back that has a unidirectional satin finish produced by polishing the metal with a 120–180 grit belt or wheel then softening with an 80–120 grit greaseless compound or a medium non woven abrasive belt or pad, it won't look good with a clear piece of plastic film over it.
