So are you going with a black or white iphone 5 ?

White

I've only ever had black, original iPhone, 3g, and 4 were all black, but I really like the white one this time. But I am waiting for the day, when the iPhone comes in as many colors as the iPod. There is no reason it can't. I would love a RED iPhone! But for now its white for me.

I love the way the black looks and do not like the white at all, but still might go with the white because I'm concerned that the black will look terrible once it's scratched. Yes I know, the anodized finished is supposed to be durable, but a typical hard anodizing treatment only extends to a depth of 2-4 mils, i.e. around .1 mm, which means that if you do scratch the surface to a depth of more than .1 mm, the raw silver color of the aluminum will be visible. I have tons of hard anodized colored aluminum objects, and every single one of them looks prematurely old and worn because of this.

This post pretty much confirmed I'll be going white. The black one is definitely the better looking but I couldn't handle the scratches with the black. I've never had white either though.

I think folks will be surprised at how durable the black back is. The prototype I saw has been in the field for a good while now as part of testing and there were no signs of wear.

Also, in the flesh the black metal is more gunmetal then it looks in pictures. Almost blue. I was surprised by how blue.

Saw a white 4 with green instead of silver egde, that was the right amount of color accent.

Will go with white this time. For those who don't think the design is fresh enough, just go for the other color, it helps.

I can definitely see the appeal of the black - sleek and different from previous generations - However, I don't feel the quality of finish looks as nice as on the white. It looks a bit like an aftermarket modification IMO..

This is exactly what I think too.. I wanted black, but idk now because idk the durability of it.

Me 2, that is the reason why I hate color anodized aluminium products

I do wish there was a black iPhone with silver aluminium or ate least that the white had black on the backside!

The only people i know with white iPhones at the moment are girls so that kind of makes me see them as more girly.

I know they're not, i just can't help associating white ones with girls. :(

Tough for me because I don't know what they'll look like in person.

The black looks very sleek though, and I'm usually a bigger fan of the white phones.

black this time..

I think alot of people do the same as me and get the opposite colour to what they just had.

you want to feel like you got a new phone

Pre-ordered Black 64 but will try and see if I can see a White one in person first. I'm assuming I won't be high enough on the list to get it on Friday.

and this isn't even black anodized aluminum that would make those scratches more obvious!

Maybe those with scratched ipod nanos/shuffles could post a pic or two

White or Balck?

I like the white one cause the sides are aril aluminum, but I kinda like the back of the black....what to do! I am gonna start standing in line at AT&T store at 9pm Thursday night, I have enough apple product to keep me entertained till 8am :)

you do realize there are 3 other threads on this very same topic right? Ill let you look for them though.

With 12 hours in line I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to decide. Also there are tons of threads on here about the two colors.

Personally, I think the two tone back of the white is weird looking. The black is sleek and stylish to me. I'm going with black.
