So are you going with a black or white iphone 5 ?

Aluminum is naturally silver, but either way there is a finish to it to protect the surface from abrasion and corrosion. This process is called anodizing, and can be done in a variety of colors, one of these being clear. The white iPhone just has a clear anodized finish.

I had a black 3G, and a black 4. I wanted a white 4, but I couldn't get one on launch day, so I opted for black. I skipped out on the 4s, so maybe it's my time to do white? I really do want to look at it first which means I may preorder from Apple, but do in store pickup. If I hated it, I would hope they'd let me change colors. Who knows either way I'm excited. Since I skipped the 4s, I think the 5 is quite a bump for me. I'm happy about it.

Besides, I swear Apple has a magic button they press to make your 2 year old iPhone suddenly work like crap when a new phone is announced. My 3G went crappy the week before the 4 was released, and recently my 4 has started to crap out on me and now the 5 has been announced. It's a conspiracy I tell ya!!

Definately black. I think the White looks pretty tacky and the silver and White combination looks pretty awful compared to the black's combination.
 
Does anyone know if you were to say get the white iPhone version pre-ordered and you found out you absolutely hate it could you possibly exchange it for say a black one or maybe return the white one and then re-purchase a black one. Such a hard choice....

Yes I believe you have 14 days too change your mind, and I will be doing the same thing. Pre ordering black, If I don't like it getting white.

technically yes if you pay the restocking fee.. and assuming that you can find stock of a black one within the 14 day window

Thanks for both of your answers. I'm doing the opposite of you...getting the white and if I don't like it or if I see I like the black one better through seeing it in more videos/at the apple store than I'll switch. Glad to know, though that I have the option of switching within the first 14 days.

Yeah I'll most likely hit the apple store launch day as well after receiving mine to do a side by side comparison. Honestly I have no clue what color I want, i just figure choose a color and then decide.

I didn't think if you order from apple there's a restocking fee?
 
Black, probably 64 GB. I like the aluminum back on the white phone, but any case will cover the back, so it doesn't really matter. Besides, cases tend to go better with black phones.
 
i tried white once and i regretted it. it looks classy but the white bezel bugged me when i was watching a video, and more importantly the dirt entering the side of the home button and it's not possible to clean it.
 
Finally black. It has to be the black bezel that grabbing me. Every device I have is white..this black ip5 is sexy as hell
 
I've been planning on getting a white iPhone for the last year but now, I'm not so sure. The black iPhone 5 looks really slick and I do like how on the black iPhones, the screen sorta disappears when its off. Plus if we have to deal with letter boxing, it should be less noticeable on a black phone.

I'm torn now :p
 
Black!!!!! I have a white 4s and SGS3 and I hate how dirty it looks around the edges of the screen protector.

black

im going with the black 32gb, after looking at some picture the white isnt that bad looking either, but if they dont have a black 32gb but have a white ill settle... im waiting until october so that shoudnt be a problem
 
I've always had black iPhones and was set on getting a white one this time to match my white iPad but now I'm undecided. The black aluminum is really something new and unique for this generation of iPhones, also, I was thinking, with the black glass, apps that are not optimized to use the larger screen will look better since the black borders on the screen will blend in with the rest of the glass, if that makes any sense...
 
I wish there was more comparison pictures of the back and sides of black and white. I usually go for white, but the black looks so sexy this time around, where as the white looks a little awkward with different colored blocks on the back.
I think I'm going black.
