The white iPhone is cursed with production issues... poor plastics, poor delivery times... ugh. Give me black and I'll never go back! Plus, it matches my MacBook Pro better.

So, I didn't get white...

I've decided that even though I preferred the white one, to give it until launch day to find out what's really up. I love the white, but I've always thought the black looked good too... so it's only a matter of not psyching myself out about the color. The new iPhone is awesome, and I want it on launch day, period. So I'm gonna wait in line, and if they have white early on GREAT but if not I'm gonna be happy with the black. Put it in a white bumper and call it a day.

We can't hate you for wanting one.
We want white no matter what. You like both colors, it's your advantage to get one on launch day! I like to look at it as a "One more thing..." rather than it being a production issue.
someone here on the board said a few days ago that in the future, when you see someone with a White iPhone, you'll know they were the ones with the will power to wait versus those who own a Black iPhone who just had to have it now.

I see your point, but I'll stick with the black version. Granted, the white version is unique in it's own way, but to me it still looks too much like HTC Hero. I've stuck with black (and never gone back) since iPhone 3GS.

Absolutely. I got a black 3G when I really wanted white and I kicked myself for the duration of the contract. My 3Gs was a damn fine phone a month ago and it still is. I will be waiting patiently...

I was on the fence with B/W, until there was no white. No big deal, I was going to use a case anyway, and I think black works better with more cases, with no distracting white bezel
.I think this may be an issue. On the 3G and GS, only the back was white, the front bezel was black. I would be worried the bright white front bezel would wash out the display... 'course the display may be so baller that it doesn't matter.
i posted on the other thread, but why would you not just use the black and keep it pristine until the white comes out, then sell on eBay for a nice profit and buy the white? this was my plan from the beginning, after i sold my 1 year old mint 3GS for 600 bucks unlocked (and the year before a mint 1 year old 3G unlocked for around the same?) .

How exactly do you figure? Youll have a 2 year contract on that line... If you want to buy another iPhone 4 you're stuck paying the full freight of $699 for the 32GB, or activate a new line and get stick paying for that each month, or finally you could pay an ETF, which I hear AT&T raised to $300+ this time around. So how can profit be made here? Is someone gonna pay hundreds of dollars more for something they can buy new themselves way cheaper?
I'm a pretty avid ebay seller and don't see this likely working out, unless you wanna take some loss somewhere...
Yeah I don't get it either. They must be assuming they will/can unlock the Black one before unloading it and make a profit that way.
So let's say you unlock it. You still need to get over $800 to make a profit after the taxes on your new white iPhone and the eBay fees of selling your black one.
the white one is cute but I REALLY don't like that proximity sensor or the fact that the screen will actually look small because there won't be black around it to make it POP.

This is what I'm doing as well. I'm crossing everything I have that somehow there'll be white ones available at the store I'm going to on Thursday, which is why I'm getting there early even with a reservation. If they don't, though, I'll be able to be happy with the black.
The white does look SICK, though. Argh.

Preordered the black as I sold my 3GS over a week ago and given the stories on people having data plans/upgrades removed from putting their sim in a cheap phone I decided to go cell phone-less for the duration.
DH will likely be upgrading this summer. If I get the black and decide I really want the white more, I'll just order him the white and give him my black.
