So does anyone know what will happen, come June 17th when 3.0 is released, to those that upgraded?

I assume that iTunes will just think you've already updated your device, but would restoring once 3.0 is released allow you to download 3.0 from Apple legitimately? (When it uninstalls and reinstalls the software)

I don't think it would be a problem, but I'm a little.... apprehensive about the whole thing now that I'm running 3.0.

My best guess is that if the build number of the version released on the 17th, is the same as 3.0 GM, (7A341) then iTunes will not know the difference and your OS will go untouched.

Worst case you'll have to download the 3.0 Final IPSW file and install it the same way you did with 3.0 GM, then, when 3.0.1 is released on Friday your back in the loop, as it were.

True, Although I am excited it is there now, certain things like forwarding of text messages are things that all phones have had standard for many years. I still do not think there is a way to send a phone number to someone via text message. The 3.0 release added the ability to send number's via email but not sms. This makes giving someone a phone number a matter of memorizing the digits then quick flipping over to the sms app. LAME:confused:

You don't have to do that anymore. You just have to flip over and copy the number! Then paste into SMS!

To send someones number is easy, just a little long. Go to the contact, edit, select the number( as if you were going to change it) touch and swipe. select with copy, then go back to text and paste. just a few more steps than it should be, but hey it works.

I really like 3.0... But for some reason, bluetooth doesn't appear to be working properly.

I can turn it on/off, but no devices are ever discovered.

Other devices can discover and pair with the iphone, but it can never initiate the pairing process.

anyone else see something similar?

thanks,
dt

I am having the exact same problems on 2 iphones.

I also noticed when switching on bluetooth under 3.0, it will temporary disable wifi for a few seconds. Seems to be a glitch in 3.0

Actually, now that I have MMS enabled, I get the option to share via MMS in addition to e-mail.

Until that works, though, you can always copy/paste.

The first encrypted backup takes forever. But the rest are pretty quick. I also noticed that you can sync the phone separatly from backing it up.

Hmm ... 3.0 definitely feels slower to me. Switching from English keyboard to Japanese (QWERTY) keyboard is very slow now (a two or three second hang) where it used to be quick, in 2.X ... Also, opening Settings seems slower, as does actually selecting things in the Settings app. Most apps seems to hang longer on opening, and take so long to close that the phone just dispenses with the closing animation altogether. Not every time, but certainly more frequently than it ever did in the past.

On my iPod touch (2G) it seems to be running just as fast as ever, though.

Needless to say, I can't WAIT to replace this POS iPhone 3G with the twice-as-fast 3GS, as soon as it launches in Japan. June 26th won't come soon enough!!!!!
