Thank you so much for defending me against Apple fanboys!
Good lord... It's like saying you hate certain TV cause it needs to be turned on with the remote.

Every TV has to be turned on. Poorest analogy I've read. Does help me understand why you don't get it. Try this:Good lord... It's like saying you hate certain TV cause it needs to be turned on with the remote.
You Apple haters do know that the Slide to Unlock thing is Apple's version of the Unlock thing for cellphones? You know, the "To unlock press * then #"?
Stop complaining and get on with your life haters.
Settings –> General –> Auto-Lock –> Never
This is the only solution without jailbreaking.

Apple FeedbackIsn't there a way to contact Apple and make a suggestion?
Because there is no way possible to satisfy EVERYONE. The vast majority of people either do not care about swiping to unlock or prefer it. The people that don't, well, live with it.I sympathize with the OP who wants that feature. Isn't there a way to contact Apple and make a suggestion?
Thank you so much for defending me against Apple fanboys!
Sure, let's expand that mentality. So you're basically saying that people who have difficulty swiping the screen; including disabled people shouldn't be allowed to use a iPod Touch or iPhone?
So you're basically saying that people who have difficulty swiping the screen; including disabled people shouldn't be allowed to use a iPod Touch or iPhone?
You apparently missed my earlier post, so let me repeat. Please, leave disabled people out of this argument. A person who has problems swiping to unlock due to a disability would have difficulty using touch-screen devices in general, and adapting iDevices for their use would be a much more complex endeavor than simply doing away with the swipe to unlock screen. Your repeatedly invoking their plight just shows you have no understanding of the issues involved.
Well said.I think we also agree that it's pretty low to feign concern for accessibility in order to justify a tantrum.
Great. Thank you! This is good to know.
My iPod 3g says youre full of it. The scroll wheel does indeed count as well, are you saying it wasnt touch sensitive? Or would it destroy your fanboy argument if you couldnt make exceptions to logic? The iPod touch is the only iPod to have touch controls*. The scroll wheel doesn't count. WHAT FUNCTION DO YOU WANT? INSTANT ACCESS TO YOUR MUSIC WITHOUT SLIDING? THERE'S SOMETHING CALLED TAPPING THE HOME BUTTON TWICE.
Anything you say is basically invalidated once you throw out the "fanboy" card. Childish insults have no place here. You know its completely typical to see fanboys defend useless Apple features that make no sense and just get in the way, if this was in a competing product it would be thrashed relentlessly
You seem to be forgetting the fact that the scroll wheel also functioned as physical buttons, and your iPod 3G was not a touch screen. You know that this is exactly what the poster meant, and you're simply arguing semantics. My iPod 3g says youre full of it. To OP,
I was browsing Cydia and came across a new package called "NoLockScreen" which does exactly what you're looking for.
It disables the LockScreen and allows you to go back to the same spot you were at.
When the next jailbreak comes out I would recommend jumping on it and then you can install that package as well as many more to make your iPod the way you want it to be.

Not every media player has an extra step between powering on and playing your media. In fact most don't. The other iPods don't. Samsung and Cowon and Creative and Sansa and every other brand but Zune don't. Apple either simply failed to realize this wasn't a phone, or kept the need to swipe in it to train users for eventually upgrading to an iPhone. Consider yourself trained.
