Kinda dissapointed. I do realize they are not going to release an update until it's ready, however I just feel like I can't enjoy my phone until I know I'm going to keep it. Anyone else in the same boat?

No. I am enjoying my phone and can wait until it's ready. I've actually just dropped it and quite frankly haven't had a single problem using my phone.

Agreed. Although as the post above says, it's still early in Cupertino.

I wouldn't expect an update any time soon. If anything, it'll take them a while just to find out how many people are actually having problems.

Yep, apple are going about this all wrong. They should be keeping in touch with their customers, and tell us whether or not they're working on a fix. If they don't fix their phones, they're going to get alot of returns / even worse press.

No update, no recall, no free bumpers. All that BS on the forums over the weekend was a complete waste of time and forum space.

Just reporting what Apple CSR is telling us. I was told there would be a statement by the end of the day Friday. I wasn't lying to get attention. It seems the only goal of Apple right now is to say anything to get people off the phones.

You do realise us iPad owners were promised an update for wifi problems - 2 months ago!!!!!!! Don't expect anything soon

I agree.
The reception issue is certainly present in my phone (and seems to be more/less of a problem depending on my location) but thus far I haven't suffered any dropped calls. Until it really manifests as an issue for me, I'm not expecting to return my phone...

Everything else about this phone is spectacular! The screen, the camera, the speed. I'm so happy with it except for this one issue which just makes it feel 'incomplete' - I didn't want to use a Bumper, really - but if it turns out that's the only fix- I'm still going to be ecstatic about this phone... upgrading from the 3G is like activating warp drive.

I'd love to see a software fix (a real fix) do the trick just so I can officially count my iPhone as the hands-down coolest phone I've ever had.

It's one thing to report what a CSR told you. It's another to create a thread saying "100% CONFIRMED Apple RECALL, free bumpers for everyone, APPLE = BP LOLZ".

I'm not saying you did. But there must have been 3 recall threads, 2 Apple = BP threads, 5 free bumper threads and at least 7 update 4.01 threads in 2 days!

I was also told told there would be a statement by the end of the day Friday.

I'm not having a hard time enjoying my iPhone. Not even a little. :)

I was going to write something... but your reply pretty much sums up my feelings perfectly. Well done.

I agree, I can replicate the reception issue (not everywhere though). I've found though that I get 3G reception in places (like my apartment) where I only used to get edge before.

I am very happy with the phone overall and haven't dropped a call.

I was really hoping for the software update, hardware recall, $170 gift card and the free bumper at the same time...dissapointing :D

It usually is...

I remember one of the threads was titled "ban me if apple doesn't recall iphone 4 on monday" or something like that. I know one poster created a whole bunch of these useless threads, and the mods did nothing about it.

Seems like the mods need to be a bit more active on these boards, especially around critical times like the iphone launch.

They said a statement by the end of the day friday? That is a lot different than a software update.
