I'm not blowing a wad, you're the one who seemed to be getting a bit aggressive, telling him to wiki his time zones. I was merely correcting your incorrect and arrogant reply with the same respect you gave to the person you replied to.

I was being sarcastic not aggressive. Didn't realize how sensitive people on forum were :D Oh well.

iOS 4.01 ain´t gonna fix anything, just gonna hide the problem. It´s a HARDWARE FLAW!

Don´t be naive!

Apparently, the problem is the software not being able to efficiently switch between network frequencies when the two antennae are bridged. If this is true, then a software patch will definitely fix it.

I'm using a bumper. It turns the iPhone into an ugly piece of glass. It prevents one from using a case to carry the phone. If I wanted to cover up the beautiful iPhone 4, I could have used an attractive case & not this obscene plastic & rubber "bumper". Once again, & quite unfortunately, one cannot trust Apple. My other active smartphones never sounded better. Thankfully this is not a phone I must rely on.

Nope.

People have 100% working phones with 4.0 so IT IS A HARDWARE ISSUE.

Wrong. It is not anywhere near 5PM on the West Coast. Why don't you wiki your time zones

Wrong!Wrong!Wrong!Wrong!Wrong!Wrong!Wrong!Wrong!Wrong!Wrong!Wrong! I see why you like to say people are wrong. It's fun.

Why don't YOU wiki YOUR time zones. It is in fact very close to 5pm!

5pm pacific is now about 45 minutes away. Assuming an 8 hour work day (9 to 5), the work day is 90% done.

i'm sorry i didn't realize you were an expert on on apple's engineering

there is no hardware flaw, they may be a design flaw (ie they could have picked a better place to put that gap or left the antenna internal) but the hardware is working fine. if there is a hardware flaw then no phones would work

now back on subject, the hardware is only as good as the software that is runs it. they coexist and depend on each other equally. you can have the best design and best hardware but if your software sucks then you're in the same boat.

it has already been shown that all cell phones exhibit this behavior on some level, a tweak in how the software interprets the signal could be enough to alleviate the dropped calls. we will find out soon enough when apple puts out its first patches

there are 3 primary factors at work here

hardware/software/location

so it isn't as simple as people are making it sound and it almost makes some of these types of issues almost impossible to test

I have this problem at my home, but when I am out for work, it does not happen in stronger signal areas. If it was solely a hardware issue, it would happen no matter where you are.

i believe there was also a thread about free ponies for all of us today? I just want to CONFIRM that i got my pony from fedex today. But it was damaged during delivery, how do i get Apple to refund my damn pony now?

I really expected some sort of statement today, if not a software update. With the mainstream media ALL over this story Apple is taking a big hit to its reputation.

Of course, the issue might be a severe one that takes the engineers awhile to sort out. In that case, Apple's rep will continue to take hits. (Maybe they'll spend more time testing the iPhone 5 before releasing it to the broad, scrutinizing public.)

I absolutely love the design of the phone but form > function is a dangerous path for Apple to continue taking.

ok serious question, for those of you who are experience the bars dropping on your display, has anyone attempted to make a call during this time and found it not to connect?
