I'm curious... Does your mini screen feel extremely small now that you've spent a significant amount of time with a larger phone?

The 14 Pro will always be there if you change your mind again. Who knows what the 15 Pro holds? Maybe they'll find a way to make a lighter Pro.

I'm one of those annoying iPhone mini cult members you hear about on this forum, but after two years of use, the size is perfect for me, and can live with the tradeoffs for that form factor. We're glad to have you back. 🤣🤪

It feels somewhat small, but the 14 pro just felt so big to me. I mean the screen was very nice, and I loved it, but the phone itself just seemed so big after having the mini.

I think the non-pro phone is probably a great mix for me of size and weight, but I'm gonna try to hold out til there's no notch.

I'm hearing more and more stories of e-sim issues like yours. For families with lots of lines that tend to have to finagle things a bit when upgrades are done, e-sim is somewhat of a nightmare. I noticed that even when buying an older iPhone direct from Apple now (tied to a carrier), they tell you it's going to come ready to activate on the e-sim.

I'm just not a fan of this push. It takes away a certain ease of flexibility a family can have with multiple devices. It also makes buying/selling gently used devices potentially more problematic. If it worked as easily as a physical sim, that would be one thing. But as of now, it doesn't.

Glad you settled on a decision! Still can't go wrong with the Mini.

Yea eSIM seems like a pain with having a backup, especially if it has a pSIM. Is it even easy with two eSIM phones, and do you have to pay every time you swap?

Hold on to the mini , wait for the next series that will feature usb-c and consider getting the non pro version, it will have the lighter weight and the bigger screen that you appreciated , as for esim, try buying the euro or hong kong version it will have the physical sim tray

I did the exact same thing except with a 12 mini. Moved to the Pro for a couple of days and loved the new features but the weight was just killer.

Honestly, I’m considering just getting my regular 12 back from my son - gives me a larger screen without the weight, and I can upgrade him to a 13 for cheap.

Our phones are all mixed up on our AT&T account, so that would also set us back straight, and then I could just upgrade the 12 whenever.

Even coming from a regular iphone to a pro one the weight difference is very noticeable although both are same sized screens but the stainless steel frame on the pro makes it much heavier, i dont trust my pro with falls as much as i trusted my regular one due to that weight 😂

Well, I returned the pro today, and am back using my mini. I can’t believe I’m actually back to a dang notch after wanting a notch-less phone for so long.

I really loved the 14 pro and have nothing bad to say about it other than the weight of it just is not for me at this point. Handled a regular 14 in store, and I could go that route, except the 13 mini is basically the same phone only smaller, and I like it. At least maybe the regular 15 will lose the notch (here’s hopin).

I will say that moving back to the 13 was NOT as seamless as moving to the 14 pro. The eSim didn’t transfer over - it left the 14 pro but didn’t work on the 13 mini. It took two and a half hours in the AT&T store to fix it, in addition to it killing my daughter’s 13 pro because somehow my mini IMEI was listed under her number - makes ZERO sense.

Anyway, after that I went to Apple and within a couple minutes I was done.

I‘m a little sad, but apparently size really does matter. At least to me. ;-p
No surprise there then. 🤣

I feel like a non-pro full-sized phone would be a perfect compromise between the mini and the pro in terms of weight.

If you're anything like me, you love the size/form factor of the mini, but prefer the ease on your eyes of the larger form factor (and I have good vision as well). The default text size on the Mini is the smallest of their entire lineup right now. It's very crisp due to the higher resolution, but the fact of the matter is it's small. The aspect ratio on the Mini is also somewhat squeezed. I don't like increasing beyond the default text size b/c I already feel the screen space is squeezed.

So ultimately I've settled on a regular 13. It's lighter weight. The size in hand is something you'll get used to after a couple of weeks. And the screen resolution + default text size makes everything much easier to see/read without sacrificing screen space.

All of that to say, if you can get past the larger form factor, I think settling on the 12 might be the best of both worlds for you. My family is also in the mixed-up phone boat as well, and it's nice once we get everything straightened out there.... which is rare lol (and a reason I'll be avoiding the 14 line and its e-sim issues).

I'm super indecisive like that sometimes too lol. Between the 12 Pro and 13 Pro, I think I've tried switching to a bigger phone like 5 times since 2020.

Well, I’m the most ridiculous, indecisive person I know, but I am back on the pro. Ultimately I just really loved the extra screen size, and figure I’ll get used to the weight.

Selling the mini so I can’t torment myself anymore. ;-p
In a couple of weeks the 14 plus is released now thats an even bigger screen but would probably be lighter too …. Think about it 🤣

Lol - not thinking about it! Losing the notch was a biggie for me, so I'm not gonna go to another phone with a notch.

Honestly the pro size is perfect and I can still use it one handed with a Loopy case, but the weight was just getting to me. I'll get used to it - it's just not that much.

Well, you can include me in that indecisive group too, along with a lot of other people here. Yes, I'm returning my 14 pro max because of esim. I still want to easily switch from my Samsung to iPhone. It's easy with a physical Sim card.
I saw your mini for sale. Love that case with the pink color. If I could easily get rid of my 13 pro, I would have bought it.

Loopy case
Is that the ring or pop socket thing ?

The decision for only esim for us iphone versions is not going away , Why dont you get an iphone from canada or europe that has a physical sim, or even the singapore/china/malaysia version that comes with two physical sims , it still comes with international warranty

I still have the mini. With eSIM I have no way to really keep and use both, so I'll have to make up my mind. :)
Incorrect. Just switch online, pretty simple. I’m doing that with my 13 mini. Remember, both use esim so it’s a few more steps but can be done on your own, online.

The Loopy cases have a loop on the back - super easy to maintain a good grip. I've used them for years.

Looks pretty helpful , also prevents having strain on the pinky finger which i use to support the phone weight on

How does one remedy a situation like this?

Loving the 14 pro. I like the DI over the notch, love the screen real estate, and am happy to have macro photography again - it’s one thing I really missed when I moved to the mini.

However, I do not love the weight. I had a 13 pro before my 13 mini, so I know I will get used to it over time. Heck I even went to Apple yesterday and tried a 14 pro max in store considering buying it (not that it really weighed much more than the regular pro), but after a couple days, I am now really missing my lightweight 13 mini.

So how do you choose between features you really enjoy or a size/weight you really love?
This is a case you have no idea what you want. You miss the mini, have a 14 Pro then try out a Pro Max thinking about buying it. What is wrong with you? Just keep both and be done with it. It’s the only way you will be pleased. Since you want your cake and eat it too. Can’t do that with just one.

Exactly what I was doing all weekend. Trying to justify spending that amount of money on a phone I kept having to talk myself into…. And then I got genuinely sad thinking of getting rid of the mini. So returned the 14 pro yesterday and I’m typing this on my mini 🤩
Smart move the mini is a great phone . Yes the 14pro is a gosh but not enough to justify the money to upgrade .

I love them. It really makes using the phone with one hand and still keeping a good grip on it doable. I don’t like pop sockets because I have to put fingers on either side and with the loopy I can just put my middle finger in it and use my others to balance out the weight.

Thanks, but my problem is solved. Having two phones is just not really necessary - just had to come to a decision.
