...at the Sherman Oaks, CA store, for the 3rd time in a row, and noticed that the first 10 ppl in line has been the same 10 ppl in line for the past 3 days. The guy beside me who's been coming since Wednesday said that it's always been the same group everyday in front and taking all the stock. Needless to say, they're all Chinese.

P.S. I'm Asian Filipino so dont call me racist. This is just really frustrating that people who actually want/need an iPad can't get one because of these guys....

Is there any other Apple store close to you? If yes, maybe you can consider trying that store the next time.

Technically, those items will end up in someone's hands who actually wants/needs one. Why don't you offer to buy one from one of those ten folks? Or wake up earlier than them?

They are not in the market to sell to random people. They are slave to the big brother. Unless the price is right of course.

I'm #20 in line at the South Coast Plaza store and now I'm looking at all the Chinese people funny.

About 50% Asian and many old men too. No girls at all :(. I'm Vietnamese by the way. This thread has turned me into a racist person.

Come out to Thousand Oaks

Only 25 minutes from Sherman Oaks. I was there Saturday (a week ago), Tuesday (830A), Wednesday (815A) and then finally scored one by arriving at 7A this past Thursday.

I was 8th in line and got exactly what I wanted, a 16 wifi black.

There didn't appear to be any "organized" purchasing effort at any time. Maybe Thousand Oaks is too far from LAX or otherwise off the radar of "group buyers." Who knows.

The guy who was #1 in line on Thursday said he got there at 430A and waited outside for the mall to open. I was there at 7 and did fine. I think the Apple Store maybe had about another 5-10 tickets passed out behind me. Good luck!
 
I got here at 5:30am and was 9th in line till more of our Asian friends came so now I'm down to 12th...

And no thanks, I'm never gonna support that grey market.. I'm paying apple 499 for my 16 gig iPad and not 800 from those scumbags
 
Has anyone actually spoken to them and asked if they got iPads all those days and what they do with them etc?? I'd be curious of what happens to them eventually then congratulate them on waking up so early!
 
I feel for you, I'd hate that, ESP guys cutting in line.
This is these guy's job, they probably spent the night there, how can you beat em in line and have a real life and a regular job..

why did you let 3 people cut in line? Why did the Apple employees lets them cut in line?
 
Theres no apple people there that early, and whatdaya gonna do, you're outnumbered and these guys are probably pretty serious, this is paying their bills..
 
Just get in line earlier... And dont let people butt in. If you're too weak to confront them don't complain.
 
O the look on their faces when the apple employee said "no iPads today" made up for the loss.. Suckas!!

There would be hell to pay if someone cut me in line, that's just ****ed up I don't care who you are. I'm really not the confrontational type, I actually HATE fighting, but there's a few things that really piss me off and that would be one of them.

This is actually what we need. A few good brawls, a couple of arrests and apple would change this useless lottery system they are now using.
 
I remember with the iPad 1, there was a limit to how many a customer could buy. At the Apple store they did not take cash, you had to pay with a credit or debit card. So, they were able to determine how many iPads were previously purchased based on your ID. What happened to that idea?
