Rumour mill on this topic stopped being fun awhile ago.

I get that Apple doesn’t want to announce a product before they are ready (and risk hurting current model sales) but the 16-inch model is either their worst kept secret or a very off season (and very successful) April Fools Day joke / hoax.

Just put us out of our misery Uncle Tim. Please.

I’m sure it’ll be out soon. The iMac Pro was released in Dec. The MBP will be released when it’s ready. October was just a rumor.

Although many launches are in September or October, there have very occasionally been releases later in the same year. Notably the iMac Pro was released December 14th in 2017. These high end pro machines are not products that are affected by the consumer rush of the holidays and ultimately sell in limited quantities compared to their other products. So we could see the Mac Pro, 16 MacBook Super Pro, and a another refresh of the iMac Pro all released in December. Who knows.

Kuo most recently said 2020. No rumour has pointed to a November/December launch

See you are mistaken there - they release products before they are ready **all the time**!!!

No, no, no.

Second Tuesday of November.

If Apple TV+ wasn't being released this week (or at all), I bet it would have been Tuesday (like two days ago).

But, they are having press events and screening for Apple TV starting Friday and continuing next week.

They are tied up with that and I bet that's also why we don't have an October event---Apple TV+ is what they want to focus their media exposure on.

But mid-November? They can release the Mac Pro and XDR, with executives will be freed up to give the journos briefings. It's a great time to release the 16 inch also. Maybe AirTag or whatever as well.

Then thanksgiving two weeks later and they can wind down for the year.

I will come back to this most when it happens and say "I told you so."

I'm glad i got my 15" when i did. 2019 base model the day it arrived at my local store

I bet this is somewhat of a soft launch, probably along with the Mac Pro. Looking at the leaks, it's not a major revision, just a slightly larger body and screen, rearranged Touch Bar, and then new scissor key switches, which I don't think they want to make a big deal out of due to ongoing consumer lawsuits. I think they just want to get it out there and eventually people will acknowledge the keyboard is fixed.

These are rumors, not facts, but you people SHOULD seriously know the RUMORS correctly. Get your RUMORs straight people! Initially, they predicted a 16" MBP in 2Qish 2020 that would still have the butterfly keyboard, followed up by one with a scissors keyboard in 2021. Then REALLY recently, suddenly all these rumors exploded of "OMG, the 16" is here now!" But then we got rumors that this was not due to a release, but an early stockpiling to avoid the December 15th tariff. I'm betting the earlier rumors are more accurate, and I'm braced that the first 16" may not even have a scissors keyboard. Apple might have a Boeing-like issue, which would explain a lot: Anyone at the company that actually knew how to make a scissors keyboard is long gone.

🤣 I now have an imagine in my mind of a bunch of Apple engineers trying to stick keys onto household scissors and not quite figuring out why its not working

I’m also waiting on the 16”. I plan to use a UAD Apollo x6 with it. I have a great deal on the Apollo but it expires in 4 days. I want to go ahead & buy it, but I have this nagging feeling of “ what if they abandon Thunderbolt?? Seems unlikely, but people here would know way before I would.

I'm kind of surprised that they'd do the release now. They usually coincide with processor upgrades and to my knowledge there aren't any processors available that would replace the 6 and 8 core i7 and i9 that the 15" currently uses

It is a bit strange to see this many rumors about a device that doesn't seem to be coming any time soon. I did think it would come in October initially, but now I'm thinking 2020 (March or June) is our best bet. There is a design change this time, albeit a small one, and I think it will need to be mentioned in an event first before being released. But my guess is as good as anyone else's.

It is interesting that most of the Best Buy stores near me have 0 availability or only 1 available in stock of the 15" macbook pros, however plenty of 13" macbook pros in stock. This could be an indication that the new 16" is coming soon.

It's not "a myth".
It will be released.
If not this year, probably early next year.

One thing's for certain:
It AIN'T gonna have a "low spec" version for $1400 !!!! ;)

It's most likely already ready for shipment and everything but...

Apple is probably having to tweak Catalina after the catastrophic launch feedbacks were received. I just recently reverted my 2018 MBP 13" back to Mojave and... let's just say, if the 16" MBP comes with Catalina, even if Apple gifts me the damn thing, I would still throw it into the trash. 10 prompts every single time I boot up? No thanks! And they can't convince me to change my workflow just to fit a new OS. That's never been a thing before. I should own the computer, not the other way around.

Catalina, I think, is the main reason for the holdup.

The 16” has been predicted for 2019.
