No issues. Screen great. I've run lots of games, benchmarks, compiles. Bootcamp + Parallels. All flawless.

Looking and working great so far. Don't hesitate to buy.

People don't normally start threads asking why their computers are running fine.

For this reason you will find a lot of threads on people with problems, but seldom those without.

And if you post how great your new Mac is, you're called a fanboy.

Hey all,

I see so many people complaining about the late 2013 (haswell) macbook pro's. A lot of people have problems with screen, freeze, etc...

Now I'm making this thread to see if there are people that don't have any problems? And that are really satisfied?

I would like to know, thanks!

Loving 13mbpr (8/256), no probe except twice it locked up I/O wise and had to close lid for a minutes to fix it. Otherwise, fast, pretty, and light. Had it a week.

13'' 2.4GHz 8GB. No issues whatsoever.

If there's ~50 people complaining, that doesn't mean there's a problem...

Zero issues. Some annoying issues with migration assistant moving from my late 2006 MBP (inexplicably hanging), but my 15" 2.3 has been problem free, and very, very fast in comparison to where I was coming from.

13" 256/8GB no problems so far. Really enjoying being able to drive 2 big displays (24", 27") at the same time too. Be wary of trying to make widespread judgements based on forum posts - you'll only hear people having issues. People who aren't are unlikely to be frequenting these forums ;)

Trackpad/keyboard just locked up again. The sleep workaround fixed it though.

This!
I was about to ask the same question. I got my new 13 inch rMBP about a week a ago and it has frozen twice now. My trackpad wouldn't move. If this helps, I was watching a youtube video without any app running in the background. Moreover, it seems to get hot. is this normal?

My 15" (see sig) is flawless. No IR, dead pixels, backlight bleed, creaking, freezing, or anything.

It's been a week, but it's gone very well so far.

I love this thread -- it gives a sense of normalcy compared to other threads showing endless problems with these new computers.

Strange, though, that if Mavericks is causing the hang-ups, that there is also a number of people without that problem. Unless it's just coincidental and not when they've been using the computer... ?

13", no trackpad/keyboard freezes yet after 4 days of use.

Some image retention showed after doing the checkerboard test for 5 minutes, but unless it gets worse over time, it shouldn't be a problem in normal use.

Funny was about to post no issues,
went to another tab to check a couple things,
then the mouse and keyboard locked up ,
requiring a long press of the power button to reboot...

I think this is a Mavericks issue. Since installing Mavericks, this has happened on my 2012 retina 15" MBP, twice. Complete lock-up/freeze, requiring a power button reset.

Thank you for all the comments! Because of all the negative threads I was really doubting to upgrade. But after I see all these positive comments I have no doubts anymore! Like everyone said, only people with problems will post about it. Kinda obvious actually :D

I just bought two 13" MBPr's this week. Mine that I bought myself was a refurb from Apple and is a late 2012 with 8gb ram and 128gb SSD and it seems to be working terrific and is flawless so far, very happy with it. My wife was jealous of mine and tired of using her Asus windows laptop, so we went to Best Buy and I picked her up the new late 2013 with 8gb ram and 256gb ssd.

Her screen looks great and just like the one on my refurb unit, I didn't see any yellow tint to it, but she called me at work about and hour ago and told me that her mouse and keyboard stopped working  I had to tell her to shut the lid for a minute and open it and see if it fixed it. That fixed the problem, but it sure is embarrasing for me since I've been trying to convince her to switch to a Mac for the last year. Now she's saying it's just as buggy as her windows laptop and wonders why I spent so much money on it for her.

I'm wondering if I should just return it and get her a refurb just like mine.

Thats gratitude for ya! I feel your pain as regards the sensation of responsibility when you advocate for something that doesn't work out wonderfully.

remember this?

by all accounts Win7 and win8 rarely crashes. At least a lot less for me and the people I know than OSX. Basically from Leopard and up, things started going wrong. Snow Leopard fixed some stuff, and it became iffy again with Lion. It seems that everytime they introduce a new features update they screw things up.

Of course it's also related to more yields because of their popularity. you had better quality and more product awareness in 2004 because the OSX market was like 6%. now it's almost 3 times as much so its to be expected that the quality of mac has slipped a bit.
I think we can at least be honest about that without drinking from the Apple kool-aid factory.

I still love the OSX ecosystem more than Windows as a whole, but I gotta admit the old saying that macs don't freeze and crash is dead and wrong.

That's why I reckon hand-me-downs are the best bet for wives and girlfriends not fussed on what they use.

As you say, nothing worse than becoming 24/7 tech support because you advocated. I no longer sell my old tech and just give it to friends and family. It absolves me of all responsibility!

Oh and I have a problem with my 2.3 15" - the screen has a yellowish smear in the bottom left, clear in the middle then darker to the right. It's off putting at worst, but it's still a problem and Apple will replace the screen as I don't want a new computer. That way I know they will check the screen and it will be a good one. IF I get a replacement, I could get something worse.
