We all know they copy each other and personally it doesn't bother me as long as I get an awesome phone out of it.

Yes, good discussion so far.
So help me understand; your sadness level for copying is based on how big the feature is. That's fair. And I would agree that Samsung copies more of the important features than Apple does from Samsung or other competitors (there are exceptions, of course).
What's your sadness level then for:
-Live photos being a copy of Zoe photos from HTC? I mean, they're exactly the same idea. And furthermore, what are your thoughts of Tim Cook claiming something like this has never been done before.
-The larger iPad, stylus, and keyboard.
-iPad Mini
-iPhone 6+
(and as Kdarling, I believe, has pointed out, these are things Apple claims they would never ever do). The live photos, okay, that's small. But the larger iPad, stylus, fold out keyboard, the iPad Mini, the iPhone 6+ (this one is huge in particular). How sad do these make you?
I'm sure others can find more examples of Apple copying "big" features and leading ideas. Are you more sad because Samsung's happens to be more recent?
And honestly, how "big" is copying a color? Especially a color that they've released before in the past? Are they capitalizing on Apple popularizing the new color? Absolutely. But I think -- based on your sadness scale -- there are things that Apple have copied that should make you sadder than the new pink S6.
Maybe I'm just not understanding the way you gauge how sad copying is. Doesn't seem consistent. Seems, dare I say, bias. But again, maybe I'm misunderstanding.

I'm with you. I'd like to hear from those that are bothered by people copying Apple.
My point is, you can't be a leader and praise a company as such for innovating, influencing, and paving the way for the industry, and then get upset that the industry goes that way. That's exactly what a market leader does. That's exactly what a company that is founded on innovation (and again, praised for it) does.
So for those that are upset, I'd love to hear how they reconcile this.
Don't forget the Samsung Galaxy S6 PLUS whats in a name right? Seriously though I would have thought they could come up with their own names.

Samsung has been using Plus pretty routinely since at least 2011, starting with their Galaxy S Plus.
Apple didn't use the Plus suffix for a phone until 2014, over three years later.
The 3D force touch that Apple uses, is generally assumed to be owned by a company called Next Input.

Moving along, you seem like you're in max Apple defend mode. The OP called a company releasing a phone in a certain color as "pathetic". He was mad about something trivial when he made this thread, end of story.

Very fair and fantastic point, let me explain:
1. If Tim Cook said that, then he is a liar. Yes, live photos is a copied feature for sure. On a 1-10 scale, I would rate it a 2 since it's not that big a deal and never was with Zoe (though I'm sure HTC will bring it back soon).
2. Larger iPad a 5 since it's not a productive device (yet), the Apple Pencil a 5 because it lacks an eraser and because of the way it charges (and its cost), and the keyboard also a 5 since they took the idea from literally everyone.
3. iPad mini a 4 since everyone was expecting it and it wasn't that big a deal that they shrunk the iPad. Apple was the first to release a modern tablet, after all.
4. iPhone 6+ a 6 since they capitalized on the big screen trend. They were definitely late to the party but brought much "life" to it when they arrived.
5. Samsung Galaxy S a 9 since they basically ripped-off everything about the iPhone 3GS (hardware and software). They even admit it in the internal documents from the company, something along the lines of "This is what we can take from the iPhone and add into our product."
Overall, I think Samsung's copying is much sadder and pathetic than Apple's because they capitalize on it so quickly after Apple's releases whereas Apple takes their time and improves on the features (in many occasions). I am very biased towards Apple, but that doesn't mean I don't give them a hard time sometimes (and admit that they copy as well). Try getting anybody else in these forums to admit these things.

No, it's pathetic to assume Apple is the only mobile phone manufacture that can make phones in different colours. Despite what Apple may think, they do not own any colours! And everyone else is free to do what they want.
I'm looking forward to when Samsung launch their own 3D Touch to watch the outcry, despite that Apple were not first to market with it.
Oh god, actually just reading a coupe of posts I see the usual misconceptions are being thrown around, Apple invented this and that, were first to market with this and that, and all are totally wrong.
Probably best just to leave..... You lot carry on arguing over shades of pink..

So your sadness meter is admittedly bias. What a fun way to measure things and help people understand and respect your criteria. How understanding you become when apple copies. But fair enough; these are your feelings so no one can tell you how to be sad.
And what of the pink s6? What's that rate in comparison to everything you've said here? You didn't seem to answer that and just grouped the galaxy s (the original one I assume?) into one score. Way to obfuscate the topic and stir up old ghouls. And honestly, if you're still sad about that, I don't know what to tell ya. It's been 5 years and Samsung has had their time in court and have arguably grown well out of that design, and have influenced the industry -- including apple -- in their own way.
So where does Samsung's pink s6 rank in your sadness meter?

Sammy even did pink for their NX line of cameras. they've been doing pink since before smartphones even.

I have no idea because I don't know what your talking about. That said you can sell a patented to multiple parties example BlueRay.
Yeah so they just happen to decide to bring it back in 2015 after apple comes out with it, wake up. I don't care if they copy each other but if you don't think Samsung does stuff when apple does your blind. Try not to be such a big fanboy.

So apple copying the smaller tablet with the iPad mini is a "4" in your scale while samung re-releasing a color they've already had many times before after apple popularizes said color deserves the same score?
A color they've had before versus an entire segment of tablets which -- reminder alert! -- apple proudly proclaimed they would never get involved in. That's all the same? That invokes the same level of sadness? Copying the timing of a color they've had before versus copying an entire tablet segment they claimed they'd never get into. In other words, based on your criteria of measuring sadness, the color pink is as big of a feature as the concept of smaller tablets. And a color that's only being released, as far as I know, in south Korea!

Um no you license and pay royalties to use someone's tech and parent just like apple did for its force touch screen.

And CDMA modem
And about 500 other things that are being used behind the scenes
It's funny how you mention bluray,sony gets money(royalties) from any person that builds a player and uses there tech.
It's not re patented.man do you have a clue of what your talking about?
Apple even pays royalties for the video compression codecs they use.along with everyone else.

I think it's just that Samsung seemingly wants to capitalize off of Apples momentum. I get it, they all borrow from one another. But in the case of Samsung it's ironic because they spend so much money and marketing either bashing or comparing their phones to iPhones directly. It's basically in most of their commercials and advertising. So to then borrow or imitate things from the iPhone it can seem a little tongue in cheek.
