I doubt it. The process took forever for the 5 and 6. Some apps won't even bother and newer apps will rise to replace them.

There’s a difference between liking the notch and not caring about the notch. For me, I don’t care. Never said I liked it, but also never said I hated it.
All the reviews I’ve seen so far have all said it is no big deal after using the phone for a few minutes.
I honestly think it will just fade into the foreground when using the phone.

I think others need to just let it go in regards to whether other people mind the notch or not. People being ok with it doesn’t affect anyone else. Just drop it lol

They need to face forward and current technology does not permit them to be behind a functioning screen.

Frankly things like microphone and speaker, and camera lenses, I don’t ever see them positioned behind an active screen. Could the entire upper area be blocked, sure. But that too would see objections by a small minority as not being symmetrical. Think of it as the rear view mirror attached to windshield of car. Sure it blocks a bit of the view. But it has a required function which prevents a completely unobstructed view out the windshield.

For those that find the notch so objectionable there are alternatives. I don’t see it as a major issue and like many have already noted, it tends to be ignored in short order. What I mostly see, is the notch being something other phone users are using to disparage the iPhone X. In any case, it’s quickly becoming a nothing point.

Had Apple extended the notch all the way across the top they could have inserted two front facing speakers, that would have been nicer I think. As is I still haven't changed my mind about the notch, or perhaps as some have suggested it's the ears that bother me the most. I'm not upgrading this year but it bothers me to think this will be the future of iPhones.

Anyway I hope you guys enjoy your new phones regardless and realize we just have different taste or ideas in what good design is. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, nor should you.

No never really was. In upright it’s not even noticed after half hour. And in landscape thumb probably over it anyway. Much adoo about nothing. Besides you have to have some front area for all the cameras, sensors, speaker and microphone.

First post I've given a thumb up to all day in amongst all of the haters and whining. Couldn't agree more, and quite honestly, I genuinely like the aesthetic that the functional area brings to the phone. Eventually phones will just become slabs of screen with nothing really to distinguish them.

I dislike the notch immensely with it's ears I much prefer the screen on my s8+ but animoji fun was too tempting for me not to get one.

The side edges on the Galaxy seem to blend into the phone (because of the curve) where as on the X they stop at the obvious bezel.

I read one review that blasted the notch (maybe the WSJ, can't recall). Said when you play a movie full screen, the notch cuts into the picture and that it was terribly distracting overall. Others politely acknowledge the notch but don't blast it, likely out of fear of falling out of favor with Apple. Will come down to personal tolerance, I'm sure.

Apple will come out unscathed for sure. Still amazes me that folks will spend $1k on this phone, which really is an ugly beta IMHO. Zero percent chance Jobs would have let this out the door. I dont like the uneven bezels of the Galaxy and the curve has a weird blue tint thing going on in the picture. On my roomates phone its easy to accidentally launch apps you didnt intend to launch with the curve in the display. The color on the Galaxy in the pic looks over saturated.
