I looked at the GS3. Same with the One X. I really thought the 3 was better overall, but did like the X body more [seemed more solid]. But the updates, and the reliability I've had with the 4 [not 4S] made me hesitate on pulling the trigger. We'll see what the 5 brings...

to be fair to samsung, they've been superb with updates for the Galaxy S2 and S3

So Apple should radically change the design of the iPhone just for the sake of change? The 4/4S seems to be the base design that they believe is ideal so they're not going to move much away from it. Sales of the device also indicate consumers are pretty satisfied with it.

YES! This is almost the only reason i'm likely to stay with the iPhone! The shared apps across phone/pad... Mac compatibility... iTunes etc. If i had to deal with an un-jailbroken iOS... I'd never stay Apple. The REALLY need to setp up the UI department. I loved it on my first gen... but seriously. "if it 'aint broke why fix it?" - Apple

I am jailbroken now but thinking about going back to "stock" since that's how I'll be if I upgrade to the next iPhone. For me it's not even so much the apps. I'm not a big Apps guy on the iPhone. The biggest App for me that I can't get on Android is the Remote app for the Apple TV's. It's more that I can't sync my DRM tunes to it (not many really). I've got questions if I can sync my Apple Lossless tracks to it. I know I can't sync my music videos/movies to it. Since music is one of my biggest uses for my phone, that's a big deal to me.

Why would you lose your "unlimited"? We have seen no indication that switching to an LTE device changes your unlimited with AT&T. Sorry your data is not great in Philly. I average 1-5 meg down in Detroit with my 4. I am jealous of my brother in law getting 10+ on his VZW LTE phone. I hope ATT gets LTE here soon!

I am in Chicago and using a HTC One X and I still have unlimited data!

Apple is on an evolutionary strategy, not revolutionary. New product models will have incremental improvements over the previous models. The iPhone 5 will have better this and better that than the 4 series did, but nothing really revolutionary. So, if you've never had an iPhone before, you'll see a whopping difference from whatever you have now. But if you have an iPhone already, then you won't see much of a difference, and might not think moving up is worth it.

I saw this with the iPad. My significant other had an iPad2. I got the iPad3, which was my first Apple product ever. I really liked her iPad2. But, if I already had the iPad2, I couldn't see the justification for moving to the iPad3, even though the Retina display was so stunning. It was nicer, sure. But not $800 nicer.

That said, I now have a Droid X. I will get the iPhone5 the nanosecond ordering is open for it. The X is still a nice phone, and I have no real complaints about the phone itself. But Motorola really ticked me off when they decided to abandon us X users and not fix a really irritating bug with Android 4 (ICS), where the phone would wake up after you turn it off. That lack of support turned me off Moto forever. I think Apple is a heck of a lot more responsive to user problems than Moto is, and to me, that's enough to justify moving to the new iPhone. That, and the integration between the iPhone and the iPad and the rMBP I'm getting, too. I'm going whole hog for Apple, a real Apple oinkitarian.

For those with a 4 saying they aren't going to get the 5, at least get the 4S! The 4S is so much snappier. I got my 4S just last fall and I'm not upgrading. The 4S is fast enough to keep me satisfied until I'm eligible for the 6, or 5S or whatever.

LTE isn't that big of a deal to me. It's like giving me a faster car but only letting me open it up for an eight of a mile. Not all that exciting really.

It's actually worse - network latency is the big killer for mobile, not so much bandwidth. It's like giving you a faster car, but you still have to push start it to get it going.

I'm thrilled LTE is finally here, but I suspect that it won't feel as nice as I'm hoping.

Well in Chicago I can say that it blows away what I had before .. pages load up sooo fast and then you come to expect that. I used my girlfriends iPhone 4S to find something and I was like wow this thing is a snail! Seriously it's that much of a difference.. at least here in Chicago.

I have bought every stinking iPhone on Day one from the fist to the 4S but for some reason I am not a all hyped about the new iPhone 5 and will probably wait this time
I will most definitely wait. I'm not about to buy a half screen update.

That is unless there is some shocking reveal, like a 4.5" display that shares the same aspect ratio as implemented on the various Androids and the new Lumia 920.

To think that all of those phones can have a modern sized display, yet Apple clings to the past is sad, very sad. It shows no imagination on Apple's part whatsoever.

Yeah I went into the Android realm for over a year after using a 3G from day 1. I used Galaxy S, Desire HD, Nexus S, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus, and then ultimately back to a 4S. I still own a Xoom so I use JB enough.

In the end I went back to an iPhone because how it worked with the Apple system. It can't do some things that were nice on an Android (aka being a mini pocket computer) but the things it did it did substantially better than any other phone. I see how people get bored and sometimes long for a change of pace, but in the end I keep coming back to iOS because it works so well.

its true! We have gadget ADD because of gadgets

Just make a quick search in the forums search bar regarding this instead of creating a topic which we have seen 10 times in the last couple weeks.

I CLEARLY still DO NOT understand why apple cannot do multiple phones w/ each running different size.

3.5
4.0
4.8

Why NOT???????????????? I DON't UNDERSTAND why they cannot do what samsung and others are already doing and selling whole boat load. I understand apple sells more(based on one phone) but they are missing out on sales of other size.. What's the catch here????

And NO, if leak is true, F YOU COOK.. and NO iphone 5 for me. That's INSULT for someone who owns iphone 4/4s

Well they "could" if they think it was profitable enough. Maybe they will, I'd like to see a 3 inch option.

Fragmentation over apps / updates etc. I'm assuming.

After a while, I realize fragmentation over apps are bit overrated.. how many apps do we keep using? I only have handful.. so..

OR what's wrong w/ keep things at 3.5 base size for all apps.. and all others who are optimze for other size can stretch out.. why not??

Well the whole fragmentation issue I can understand but couldnt that be solved easily by apple mandating all apps must support X resolution and downscale it for smaller screens and devices??

This way all apps are designed as universal and down-scaling graphics would look much better than up scaling IMHO.

Ya, I hear ya. As much as I like the iPhone and iOS, I'll admit I'm bored. I definitely have that "Oh Shiny!" thing going on at the moment. I think to get my fill, I may opt for a low cost Android tablet I can flash JB onto. Then I can play, and get my fill without messing up my phone. I NEED my phone, so I'm not inclined to tinker too much with it.
