Actually, I'm selling the Mustang and buying a Diesel tow vehicle. I just finished building the race car, I'm halfway through my provisional licensing races, and I'm working on becoming a BMWCCA instructor, so it's not going anywhere any time soon.

As for a new M6 -- considering I've invested less than $30,000 in all of my cars, I don't think I'm going to be buying a car that costs half as much as my house.

Ahh the Mustang is such a nice car, particularly the '65-'68. Congrats on your racing, that's impressive. I race Autocross in the M6 and go to the track and do friendly racing/lapping on weekends. I've taken those BMW Driver courses too with my car. I figured if I'm buying such a car I might as well spend $1000Cdn on a racing/driving school.

Yeah the M6 is pricy, but each day I get into it, it's such a treat. Just like your race car, it brings a lot of fun to me and I have it paid off 100%. I figure I might as well buy a nice car before I get married & have kids, let alone a girlfriend haha. I just find driving so relaxing, it's just you and the car. Whenever I have a bad day I go for a drive and there is no one to bother me. As an Engineer I guess I just appreciate how much engineering goes into ANY car, it's amazing and how all of the parts work together.

Then when I go to Autocross events it's such a community spirit, everyone is out there helping each other. Then the track days is when you can unleash all your anger pent up all on to your right foot:D

Poppe, are you an Engineer, I work for Honeywell/Raytheon, unfortunately that means my work and research is being used in Guidance Systems for War:( Sometimes I get very depressed because of this, but then I go for a drive!:p

Nice cars! You should sell your race car and buy a new M6, I absolutely love mine, nothing like a 500hp V-10 w/ 7spd tranny:eek:

I just hope I don't have any mechanicals....the M6 is like a computer, I can see pars being $. So far I only have 12,000km.
    Great car, and great choice, it's the second best after the M5!:p

Oh no I suppose I'm no engineer... I think there is a Raytheon by where I live. Thats crazy.

And thats too bad about the war thing. A good way to think about it while war is very crappy, alot of the technology that comes out of it is eventually put in to the commons man hand and changes the world.

Just be greatful you don't live in the UK. 1 liter Super = 99.9 pence.
or $1.86 per liter, give a rather crushing $7.04 per US gallon

(1 liter = 3.785 US gallons, and not 4.546 liters per imperial gallon)

Here in mainland Europe one U.S Gallon is equal to 3.7 liters...but then again we drive on the other side too... :p

Really? I've been thinking of getting one. Have you been enjoying it?

It's excellent, and way more fun to drive than I thought it would be.

Gas is really pretty cheap in the US. Even in Canada, I was paying 1.31/litre in Vancouver by the end of spring, or just shy of $5/gallon. That works out to US$1.15 more per gallon than I pay in California (at 3.785 litres per gallon, not gallons per litre ;)).

You'd think I'd switch to a hybrid or at least something that didn't require premium fuel, but I just picked up a second Audi a couple weeks ago. Go figure.

I have decided to name her, the black pearl. I hope I get this car when I get my licence, but I think it will be gone by then. Its had so much money recently put into it, it doesn't seem like its worth selling.

My parents said they would happily buy my neighbors 1996 Discovery I SE-7 because the lady said she would sell it to me. Its a rare but nice blueish green color with tan leather. I don't find it particularly attractive the way it is now, to make the Discovery I's look good they have to have a 2" lift and bigger tires (not HUGE, tires, just bigger). The thing is in great condition, it has 120k on it and it has been dealer serviced forever. It looks a bit like this one. (needs better looking wheels too)

I just love the commanding feel rovers have. They are up high and have outstanding visibility.

I think the Land Rover needs some air in the back tire.

I know, thats what everyone says when they see that picture. I think the pic was taken a couple days after we bought it.

To Ed

I am surprised Land Rover can even stay in business, ford must be holding onto them as a novelty. I guess when you buy one you either get a good one or a bad one, but I think most are bad.

The Land Rover discovery was originally made in 1989, and much of it was based upon the Range Rover. In 2003 they still didn't manage to get all the electrical glitches out of it- windows, sunroofs, door locks, my god, what is there problem. Although Air Suspension is fun and cool, it is so unreliable why do they either bother with it- it should be an option. Very few people need to take their rover offroad, and if they did, what would they do if their Air Sus. died? Even if someone took their 50,000+ rover off road, they would have to be pretty stupid- it will break in the most inopportune place. Our 2003 Disco has had many little problems plus a couple big ones, but my neighbor with her 1996 Disco has only had a couple problems- Brake Failure, Locked up door handle (due to dried up grease), and the antenna base broke and now the antenna is in the engine bay.

As much as my mom loves the LR3, she says that she does not want to pay to have it serviced. When we take our Disco in its a huge bill.

My neighbor apparently just bought a used Burgundy 2005 Range Rover HSE. He doesn't know what he's in for :)

Land Rovers are beautiful, capable cars, but there reliability needs to improve and their repair prices need to go down.

My parents bought it for me a few weeks ago, I can start driving it in January when I get my permit.
OMG, you got that nice shiny read Firebird and you can't drive it until next year? Wow, that's gotta hurt but it'll be worth it come January.

Me, I never pass up a chance to post a picture of my baby. :D

Sonofab!tch! Nice car, I've been beaten many-a-time at Autocross events. It's such a well-balanced chassis/car that my power wasn't enough to change the scales in my favour on these short, twisty tracks!

My car is a 2001 Hyundai Accent. Bit dumpy but does its job :D I'm glad I didn't get an expensive car as my first car. Has a few dings from me learning and gaining experience in driving. Reckon I could handle something nice now :D

I got a 2000 Honda Civic EX. It only has 34,000 miles on it so I can't complain and its good on gas mileage

Just replaced my 2000 Honda Civic. I know it is fugly, but it is roomy, cheap, reliable, and gets good gas mileage. (30+) I almost bought the Honda Fit, but I could not find one in stock in 5 spd.

Heh, I would have never considered AutoX for an M6, it's just too big, but at least you're using the car for performance and not letting it stagnate. My favorite thing is twisty/mountain roads, which is kind of stupid on my part since I live in Florida. I've been able to take extended road trips the last couple years in the NSX though and have driven the whole Blue Ridge Parkway (over 500 miles) twice now.

But my favorite place is the Tail of the Dragon. I was there a couple months ago and my wife and I are going back at the end of this month.

11 miles, 318 curves. Speaks for itself. :)

My neighbor used to have a Qx4, the later version, in silver, with xenons, it was a sweet car. I love them so much. I think they look a lot better than Infiniti's newest SUV concoctions.

Just out of curiosity, how did you have a newer car than your mom?
